Took me awhile to decide to review this but it was because I was a little sour about the ending of the series last week.
To start: Excellent drama, had hilarious, stupid, unpredictable, touching moments all over it. The characters are very endearing not to mention the style fitting the story very well.
The story may sound very ridiculous to start with but does convey a good message within it. It is however a comedy so keep that in mind.
Nagase Tomoya proves that he is a very versatile actor yet again (and damn is it me or is he getting hotter and hotter when he doesn`t have the Rambo hairstyle (which he just got back again)) along with a fresh cast of young actors that, well, made it interesting. XD
The ending left me sour, but that is me, I just wished the series would have never ended is more like it. ^^ Maybe next year we will get to witness a Special drama? ^^ |

A good mix of laughter and tears (both from laughing too much and being touched:'( ) The story centres around how Maki, the to-be head of a gang, is sent back to high school and the way he copes with high-school life, love, friendship and being torn when he has to choose between his high school life and his real life. Definitely a must watch! If there's only one drama you wish to watch for this year (2006), watch MBMH! You won't regret it:) |

I can not begin to explain why I love this series so much. All o fthe characters are amazing, and Tomoya really pulled off Makio. This series made me laugh with the hilarious storylines... I mean, come on, the first episode alone was about Makio finding out how to get the school's famous pudding, which there is only a limited amount of. Obviously goes without saying that the audience shouldn't expect any of the storyline to make any sense but given that, the selection for the cast could've been improved on. Nagase Tomoya was decent as the lead but Yuya was really too much of a wimp whereas Koki overcompensates on this point.... Yu was decent as the homeroom teacher and the rest of the cast was passable. A nice light drama to pass your time as long as your expectations aren't too high. |

I have to admit, I was not all that impressed with the show when I saw the first episode. The storyline was somewhat attention grabbing because it dealt with a yakuza leader who has to go back to high school to get his diploma. However, as I continued the series I thought it was quite enjoyable and fun to watch off and on. The episodes move in a progressive manner and happen to focus on different aspects of high school life from exams to sports days and even matters of love.
Nagase Tomoya is able to pull off the part of a commanding and fearsome leader in a yakuza group by night and still look like a fumbling and somewhat timid high school student in the daytime. I found this factor to be one of the highlights of the series. In school, Makio (Nagase) makes friends with another boy who he saves from being bullied and a girl named Hikari. Through their help and the teacher's confidence in him, he's able to overcome many of the obstacles he has to face day to day. This was an entertaining drama although some parts seemed to drag on a little too long. The weakest point in this drama for me was the romance. I thought it was odd for a 27 year old yakuza guy to fall head over heels for a high school student. That's just me I think. I'd recommend this drama to fans of Nagase Tomoya. |

This drama drew me in from the first episode, and that alone is why it was one of the more successful dramas this season - the fact that it made me want to continue watching. The plot may be silly, the chaarcters and situations over the top, but this drama is charming in the fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously and doesn't hide the fact that it knows it is meant to be silly. Nagase is a good comic actor, and Koki from KAT-TUN as his underling is a rough gem - funny guy in the making. The school kids are not as irritating as say, those from Gachibaka or DanDori, and I had always like Aragaki Yu. At the end of the day, looking back, I can say that this is one of the few handful of dramas that gave a level of satisfaction to me at the end of the summer season. |

I wasn't going to watch this, but after it got decent ratings at the start i thought there must be something about it so i started to watch and began to love it! I think it's secret relies in it's character's warm-hartedness and freshness of the script. Nagase Tomoya perfectly combines his "konoyarou" yakusa character with his stumbling high schooler, and ive fallen for yui after when she said "issho ni kaerou?" Must watch for instant laughs... |

The drama gives one the feeling of what one charishes in their teen lives.. its very cute and sentimental. you cant help but root for 27yr old makky and uuume..? girl lol and the pudding thing LOL we all had that time when we would do anything to get that one little thing that is just so satisfying. |

Nagase was absolutely hillarious!!! And he was also cute, cool and hard as nails all at the same time!
There was not one character that I did not like in this drama.
A lot of people did not like Sakurakouji but I thought he was sweet and unselfish and I just wanna give him a hug.
Nagase's relationship with Hikari was adorable! I LOVED his stutter... and the lumber jack! ... Bless him XD
I definitely recommend this dorama to anyone who likes light-hearted, fun, comedies.
I really really enjoyed it, after having such high hopes for this series I am so glad that I was not left disappointed, not even for a second. |

Such a heartwarming Dorama. I'm in my graduation time now and this was like the "ultimate dorama" now. Not only that I reflected my own high school life, but I actually felt the spirit of it in the Dorama. I felt joy while seeing Makio getting the puddings, I fell in love with U-u-umemurasan, I felt the sadness he did. Every episode was terrifically hilarious beacuse well over-acted. The end couldn't be better in my opinion. Great show and a must watch for teens! |

This dorama has become one of my favourite one. It's got everything you wish for. It's really funny, heart-warming, sad, happy, romance involving... You name it.
I really like the ending song too, which is sung by the mainperson in this series, Nagase Tomoya from TOKIO. It was a good choice for the series..
However, I strongly recommend this dorama to everyone. The ending was totally unexpected and that made it so good and awesome. First you get shocked and then afterwards, you notice yourself sitting in front of the screen with a big smile and singing along the song. This dorama is... handsome ^_^! |

This drama was good. Nagase Tomoya who plays Makky was a little too over the top sometimes, and made it hard to take some parts seriously. I liked Tanaka Koki, who plays Kazu, character... he was funny and i felt sorry for him sometimes. Tegoshi Yuya, played Makky's first friend Sakura, was a good actor - but he was kinda weird to me... The teacher Minami and female classmate Hikari didn't have good characters; in both love scenarios, it would have been all wrong for Makky.
My favorite character would be Mikky, Makky's younger brother, played by Kikawada Masaya. He was smart, and basically had what Makky was missing. He played a good "nice" but in a way "sinister" character. I would like to see more of his stuff.
I like the drama because it was fun.

I just finished watching this two days ago and it was great! The leading character played by Nagase Tomoya was great (though slightly unrealistic) and he had the most hilarious facial expressions throughout the series. The supporting male character played by Tegoshi Yuya was absolutely adorable. The slight romantic aspect of the drama didn't make me feel nauseous so I applaud that and I admit a big bonus was how it involved a fictional crime organisation - and I know how much I love those. It's pretty action packed and with lots of humor so it's rather well-balanced. I love the series and though I watched it from a boxed set that my sister's friend let us borrow, I wish I could have my own so I could watch it at will. :) |

Initially, i was quite bored with it. But after 3rd epi, i am addicted.. Nagase is really King of Humor !! seeing tegoshi and koki in it, i mus say that they add alot of flavour to the dorama..
the last 2 epi are really very touching ~ but Nagase lighten all tense atmosphere.
overall, is a dorama worth watching ! |

This drama deals with Yakuza in a very funny manner. Makio's character is played extremely well by the actor, this expressions are not annoying but they are very funny and practical for this role. In contrast for example with Yakuko to Kenji were they are supposed to be Yakuza bu all the do is twist their necks and throw CG rays from their eyes to each other.
Aragaki san again is so damn cute in her role, I actually wanted them to kiss Sakaki and her (perv thought :P), although it IS a little too odd for a Yakuza guy to fall for a high school girl, even if she is as cute as Yui. The theme song by TOKIO is enjoyable and all in all, I laughed and had a great time watching this drama!
It gets a 9 because it leaves some loose ends such as, sakurakoji confessing to Arakagi based on the history's dialogs. |

Okay. There is, what three Johnnys? One from Tokio, NewS Tegoshi<3 and Kat-tun koki<3 I love this comedy. haha you can't help but laugh and scream kawaii!! All the time :P It's just sooo cute! my number 1. favorite dorama of all time - It just has everything!! first of all it has Nagase Tomoya in the lead role (my favorite actor) and then it has Aragaki Yui as umemura-san and Tegoshi Yuya as sakura-something:).. i recently bought it on dvd because i liked it so much! watched it 2 times now:D |

I have got to say that this is the epitome of comedies. It is so entertaining and funny that I give it a 10. (and I don't give out 10's very often.) It is definitely light hearted and a bit over the top but I found myself laughing at every opportunity. Usually more deeply plotted dramas deserve my 10 but since this drama is just unbelievably well written I give it a 10! MUST SEE |

Really Funny! And nice acting by all the JE members... Nagase, Tegoshi and specially Koki. (i never imagined him playing those kind of "stupid" char.). Good plot, this series is one of the best comedians doramas i've seen so far. Honestly it does look a lil' american"ish" like that Adam Sandler movie (wich the name completely slliped ou of my mind) but i dun see why it should be a problem... Higly recommended if u r looking for some laughs! |

This is by far the most funny dorama i watched, like i say all the time Nagase Tomoya was born to play funny Yakuza parts, he just do it better than anyone else(watch Tiger&Dragon as well).
But if you like the Yakuza kind of comedy(which i like), you will love this dorama. All the cast was good but Tomoya´s antics and facial expressions overshadow all their performances lol. The Sorafune song is awesome, i never get tired of listening to it. |
