1. Very enjoyable [Rating: 8/10]
Uchino Masaaki was perfect for the role. A well acted and interesting story. Although it is not clear how accurate any of the story was because so little is known about Yamamoto Kansuke in real life the story is still very enjoyable. I can't put my finger on exactly what it was but something was missing so I can't rank it as high as some of my other favorite Taiga's (Mushashi, Komyo Ga Tsuji, and Toshii to Matsu).

2. A Winner! [Rating: 10/10]
I don't give the top rating too often - it's the fascinating story of an unemployed, one-eyed samurai who aims to become an expert on the art of strategy. The plots have extremely clever twists, and the characters fairly appealing - not unlike the somewhat similar Musashi.

3. Taiga drama worth checking out [Rating: 8/10]
This drama was better than I expected. Though not much is really known about the real life man the story is based on they do a convincing job of making him seem larger than life. Well acted and as always beautifully shot as you expect with an NHK Taiga.

4. Just Great [Rating: 9/10]
With great characters, stories, and strategies this is my favorite taiga so far. Kansuke is a great character who you could hate if you didn't already love him.

VERY underrated Taiga! Possibly because they cast a real actor, Masaaki Uchino as Kensuke instead of a "star". If you are into tactics and philosophy this is a must-see. Great stories, plots and sub-plots and some great characters in Yamamoto Kansuke, Nagao Kagetora, Sanada Yukitaka and Sessai. Some people don't like Gackt, but I think he did a good job his first time out and the old school are well represented by Sonny Chiba and Nakadai Tatsuya

I'm still going to watch it! Meaning I want to because of Gackt (mostly) but the length and plot just scare me every time I'm deciding to see it).
Five pints in advance (why? - Gackt - is the the answer))

Interesting account of the rivalry between Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin as seen from the point of view of Yamamoto Kansuke, military strategist to the Takeda Clan.

Gackt is amazingly a very good actor. He seems to fit his role perfectly and comes off as being a "villain" even though he isn't really. Lol.

My first taiga. My main reason for liking this as much as I did was Uchino Masaaki. His portrayal of Yamamoto Kansuke really stuck with me.

Muy bueno! Realmente es largo, pero no quería que terminara. Aprendí mucho sobre la era Sengoku.

I like how the hero could be taken for a villain. Also how a guy with a bad limp can bet up healthy youngsters.
