1. Morale of the story plays a part [Rating: 10/10]
I often wonder what is the prefect drama for everyone. Each are entitled to their own view, but is the any factors that make a drama which can win the hearts of everybody. This drama does and i believe it will do to the others if they can truly understand this drama. This story consists of many thing.
1. It is showing about the ugly sight of humans.
2. It is showing something you cannot encounter in normal life but is frightening.
3. It is showing how a girl who is laugh by everyone becomes a angel in the end

And i can concluded that people watching this drama need to take good note of the morale of the story, and not linking it to other subject. This is purely about 2 subject.
1. The way of psychological
2. How selfless people change the life of others.

And take note of the 2nd factor, that is the main morale of the story.
To create a fair world, people should not lie and cheat each other.
It create hurt, emotional stress, and creates "evil" people in their mind and converting more. Frightening that any virus, conflict as this is the factor that cause almost all the factors, not naming natural disaster.
Only when these are void, shall the world become a real "beautiful world", bringing happiness to all.
That is the morale i found out when i finish this series.
It can be a sort of education drama for people, to let them know how a people can affect the masses, or maybe to limited love one.
That's it.
Hope to see another story with strong morale setting like this.
And Erika Toda 1st drama as the main actress.
A perfect job, and a perfect drama in my heart.

P.S. I am a free thinker, so i said these not bases on religion belief so the review i haven given is not in any way biased to religion belief.

2. Original...but clumsy! [Rating: 6/10]
I am very doubtful about this dorama and I can't really say wether I liked it or not as it contains as many positive and negative events in it.

Let's first point out the good parts : the intrigue. It is of course absolutely not plausible, but it doesn't matter it's not necessarily supposed to be! The atmosphere was great and the music very well chosen. I really enjoyed watching them solving the issues. On my opinion Matsuda Shota played his part nicely as well as most of the "organization" characters.
Unfortunately the rest of the cast was grotesque, with the exasperating Toda Erika as the "naive" girl (I'd call her an idiot, as she keeps on falling for the same tricks and can't seem to be able to see when she is clearly duped), or most of the other players who were really poor actors. Sometimes the story is also very corny, and some happenings are ridiculous (c'mon, nobody's explaining his evil plot just before the end :p).

I'm also disappointed with the last episode, as they could have made it twice shorter, I didn't wish to see a long summary of the previous events...

Anyway I didn't hate it and will probably watch the second season as this dorama has excellent potential!

3. Almost like a drama for the mathematical mindset [Rating: 7/10]
This drama starts off as a mystery as Kanzaki Nao receives a huge sum of money and is entered into something called a Liar Game, in which you have to lie, cheat, and steal other players' money. So how does the innocent and naive Kanzaki attempt to do this? Enter Akiyama Shinichi, a ex-convict and expert swindler, who agrees to help her.

While the intial first episodes seemed simple enough, the latter games include outsmarting other contestants using mathematical methods to explain how to win, which can get confusing at times.

Towards the end, we find out why this Liar Game came to take place and why certain contestants were chosen. While it was intriguing to find out the reasons, it kind of lost the element of wonder (kind of like how you find out that Santa Clause isn't real), which didn't sit well with me.

Regardless, I found it to be a great drama. However, I don't think it would appeal to everyone, especially those who prefer simple plots.

4. A different dorama [Rating: 8/10]
Some will like it, some won't. It is an unusual dorama, built around a series of games in which the main characters (Erika Toda and Shota Matsuda) take part. It is not 10 games though, it is only 4, and they are all very different, so don't expect something repetitive.

I think what makes the dorama interesting is the good acting, the chemistry between the main characters, the suspense as you never really know how the situation will change in favor of Erika. And there is an overall plot that goes from the first to the last episode.

I understand that some may not like the "game" setup of the dorama, and maybe the exagerated acting of some of the supportive cast, but I would say it is worth to try Liar Game, it is difficult to know if you'll like it or not unless you try at least episode 1, then you'll figure it out on your own. For me, it worked, I liked it till the end.

5. Keeps You Guessing [Rating: 8/10]
This is one of a kind drama. After watching the first 2 episodes I wondered how else are they going to prolong the story? Somehow they did and made it even more interesting.
I understand how they fooled Toda Erika's character the first time and even the second time but the third time? That was kind kinda poorly written. I guess after the third time, it explains how she eventually willingly volunteered to enter the 4th game.
Also they could've expanded more on the story behind the game's creator. Matsuda Shota's main purpose in participating in the games is to find oout who is behind all this and finally he meets the guy and then what? Lame...
I still enjoyed the drama more because of all the games they played with all the twist and turns.

6. As Ridiculous as it is Fun [Rating: 7/10]
Firstly, everything about Liar game is over the top, and perhaps appropriately so as the dialogue/acting is so miniscule you barely think that they're playing for ridiculous amounts of money. While I think Erika Toda did an OK job, I still merely see her as something pretty to look at and I believe she would progress better as an actress in a more serious role or a uni-type drama like orange days/honey clover where she can utilize her beauty, so to speak. Matsuda Shota mildly impressed me and I appreciate the fact that he's looking for different sorts of roles post-Hana Yori Dango (Oguri Shun, take note of this!) Overall though, a good drama that has entertaining moments that keep you guessing and confused.

7. Quite good, but it could've been better... [Rating: 7/10]
Being quite a sucker for logic and riddles I pretty much liked it...I was gonna give it 8/10 but then I think they kinda screwed it a bit towards the end... I mean, I liked a lot the way it ended and the morale of the story, but I found the last episode uselessly long (2 1/2 hours, half of it being just a recap of what had happened that far >__<) and with too many betrayals/schemes/twists&turns - besides, I'm not an advocate for violence, but I don't get it why nobody ever felt like kicking Fukunaga or Yokoya in the balls, dammit! ^_^;;;

Anyway, I liked Toda & Matsuda, while the supporting cast was imho so and so...

8. Nice change of pace [Rating: 8/10]
This is a very unrealistic drama that clearly shows its manga roots.
The situation doesn't really make much sense but if you go with it, it can be a lot of fun. It's basically a dramatic game show and it was nice to see a show that requires some thinking. You might have to hit the pause button when some of the schemes are explained to mull them over.

It's far from perfect: It should have been shorter and there were too many scenes of guys with strange haircuts laughing manically.

But, still, the mind games that were being played and the moral of honesty and fairness to those around you was nice.

9. Very annoying female lead [Rating: 5/10]
I kind of liked this drama in the beginning. Not the best, but certainly not the worst. However, the female lead ruined the whole show for me. Especially in the end. Since I don't want to ruin the show for those of you who plan to watch it by writing any spoilers, I can't really explain why. I will say this much, though, even though it is sort of a spoiler: In the final episode I wished I could slap the hell out of her. She actually gets away with her stupidity and her annoying behavior without consequences. To me, she is probably one of the most disgusting charcters I've seen in a Jdrama.

I don't know why some people compare this drama to death note... i mean it's nothing like that at all...it's far more better than death note and kurosagi depending on the games they play...their acting was superb as well that's why many of them are hating erika's character, matsuda shota was too damn hot and one thing that shocked me was the chemistry between akiyama and nao was perfect even though there was no love story about them in the drama... also i have watched few ep's of liar game 2 and i was shocked that nao has become smarter now even swindling others ha ha...

Content that 98% consists out of logical riddles is OK for a "Math can be fun" schoolbook, not for a drama.
The characters just have no character; incredibly shallow. The guy who wrote the dialogues had no work to do whatsoever.
The plot premises are simply preposterous.
No endearing little details.

The only redeeming factor is the luminous presence of Shota Matsuda, incl. shirtless. Just fast-forward the rest of it. 8-)

After watching tons of idol drama with tons of cheesy romance, I needed something else. Psychological thriller fits right to the bill and I couldn't stop watching. The premise seems predictable enough, a gullible girl in a cruel world and a hero who saves the day, albeit in an unusual way and that goodness wins. Yes there wasn't much character development but I liked the drama for simple reasons: the world is cruel. As annoyed as I was by how stupid Nao can be, but there is a heartwarming message that maybe, somewhere, no matter how small, there is still hope if you can just believe and be true to yourself. I have always liked Toda Erika's acting and she fits her innocent character. And what can I say about Matsuda Shota. This guy never fail to amaze me with his performance...it's probably the acting gene in him. I never think he was particularly good looking, and judging from his appearance in variety shows, he's not very interesting either, unlike Johnny idols whose presence always entertain. But when it comes to his acting, there is no doubt that he is a natural. He just seems to exude confidence and charisma in his acting and that's hot. Now, the setting of this drama doesn't particularly stand out, but I have to say that I totally love the opening credit. I normally fast forward those kinda parts, but the concept of opposing red and black sofas...and red dress, black suits, damn...it's sexy, for lack of better word. I didn't give it a 10 because i thought the ending with all the recaps was unnecessary and fukunaga's annoying laugh is overplayed
2. Comments by donna8157 [Rating: 6/10]
I really had no expectations when coming in to watch this drama series. At first I thought it was some odd knock-off of the Hollywood movie "Saw". The antagonist in the series is dressed in a mask reminding me of Jigsaw and is on a tape that gives instructions to each player. The whole concept is overdone especially because it's a blatant rip off of the movie.

The acting and characters in this series are average at best. Toda Erika's character, Kanzaki Nao, is naive and innocent to the point of absurdity. The whole point of the game is lying and using the other person in order for your own gains, but she no matter what still ends up falling for their tricks. Luckily through the help of Akiya Shinichi (Matsuda Shota) a brilliant trickster, she's able to go through the tests and not acquire a 50 million debt.

The only redeeming part of the show that made it worthwhile was the actual logic puzzles. It was interesting how Akiyama Shinichi was able to solve all of them and play upon the other players' weaknesses. This leads to the other part of the show which touches upon the human complex - greed, trust, etc. That part is interesting, but it's nothing new.

Overall, it's an average drama in my opinion. The very last episode seemed like a waste to me though even though it was a 3 hour special. Most of it was flashbacks.

The whole series is really good, the way it presents the problems all they characters have to go thru and the solutions that they come to for solving those problems is very amusing. It also has a message about not doing bad to others regardless of how much they have put you thru, there is always forgiveness. By taking revenge you will not have peace but only more suffering.
The final episode is just a little bit too long and slow for me in terms that it pretty much summarizes all the episodes and the viewers attention gets lost. Also, the few new pieces of the story that this episode presents are just too few for the view to keep an interest in the whole episode without fast forwarding it. That is why it gets an 8.

First of all, this drama was the one that got me addicted to asian dramas. After I finished watching first episode, I thought "WOW!". Liar Game is my all time favourite TV show and I don't think that there will be any better for me. I love detective, psychological related movies (I'm detective's daughter afterall xP) so this one was a piece of cake for me =^o^= Talking about actors, I really liked Toda in this. She was naive but also so kind and honest. I prefer this kind of people. But also I like those like Akiyama. Well, what I mean is, not swindlers but smart and mentally strong people. I think that everyone should watch Liar Game because there are many things that you can learn of this.

This is DEFINATELY one of the worst dramas i've ever watched... .You won't believe how many time the camera actually focused on each and everyone of the cast just to film them with the shocked expression. SOOOO many times! And their expressions were......blek.....horrible and disgusting(i know i sound really mean but that is what i really feel...).. .The main girl.......i think her acting was so fake... .If it wasn't for matsuda shota,i would have stopped watching ages ago (but i finished it in the end =.=). THe interesting thing about this drama is the strategies and the mental games. Other than that,i think it's not worthwhile to watch this drama.

i really like the actor especially matsuda shota
in his role shinichi akiyama..

some people don't like this drama maybe because they don't like thinking...
the character of nao kanzaki is really annoying because she's too honest and easily trust people.. that's why she deceived several times..

for me, this drama show that even though how evil you are.. you have a good side... and there's hope to come ^_^

Very entertaining dorama with really interesting mind games. I liked 2nd round the most. Full of twists and turns, although a bit predictable sometimes. Remember it is manga-based. I loved Kichise Michiko's performance. Matsuda Shota surprised me for good; I don't usually like idol-type actors. Too exagerated and moralist sometimes, but it was really fun to watch. Last ep. shouldn't have been so long; you will certainly fastforward the flashback parts (saving about 45min.). For those who say it has bad acting and writing... Sincerely... This series really shud have got a higher rating,! Sucha great, compliacted, funny dorama consisting of both serious and humourous parts. Toda erika plays an innocent girl involved in a game called LIAR GAME which involves decieving people to gain huge sums of money. Matsuda Shota is a genius swindler and ends up helping Erika`s character NAO to progress through the LIAR GAME. Suzuki Kousuke is my favourite actor in this as he is soo funny and provides most of the comedic scenes. ANYWAYS, a dorama worth watching!

At first, I thought it was a very interesting drama. I liked the whole concept behind the Liar Game but as the story progressed, I got pissed at the lead role's stupidity and the corniness of her leading man's strategies. Although I give props to the very creative solutions to problems (I tried solving them myself but couldn't), 90% of the time, I was praying this drama would end already. Being a jdrama enthusiast means having to watch the drama through till the end. Didn't get any better though.:(

WOOTS just finished this a few minutes ago!! It's WOWing. A little like kurosagi in the sense that the players had to go around "lying" and tricking other people. Basically a game with 4 rounds, and different game rules each round where people are supposed to cheat each other.. Though similar to kurosagi, it's much more intellectually satisfying. U have to think together with the plot in order not to get left behind going "huh? i don't get it" Nice ending too! i like it!

I was really bored with this drama and I can't blame it on Erika Toda who always manages to rub me the wrong way, because her 1 dimensional character wasn't even the worst part. The storyline is ridiculous, the acting poor at best and if you are as smart as say a fifth grader than you would solve the "riddles" half an hour befor your smart main guy does. Three stars only for Shotas hair.

This starts off with poor acting and a weird atmosphere given by the BGMfs but getting past episode 1 & 2 is the key to really get interested in the entire series. Episode 3 until 11 was really as suspense as ever. Added thrills from characters such as Fukunaga Yuji & Yokoya. This is really Death Note-like. It's basically game theory in drama. If you're interested in that kind of stuff, then you'll surely enjoy this series. The male lead was pretty convincing. I actually liked Erika Toda in this one. The message behind the story is really touching, yet it has a lot more potential than what was brought out here.

The only reason I'm holding back on giving this drama a 10 is because of Toda Erika. She was starting to get on my nerves and her whole acting dumb and I don't know. This is an exciting series based on the manga of the same name; fans of the manga will find noticeable changes though. The acting, I should point out, is overdramatic.

The character Nao really influenced me. I rooted for her, got mad at her, sympathized with her, worried about her... The male lead is far better than Yamashita at being a swindler. And the games are all very interesting. The cinematography, the mood, the music are all great. I just wish that there are more adept swindler in the game.

Hmmm. I like Toda Erika. But this dorama left a cheap impression on me. Not only that it had a low-budget, but it was produced without the will to create something good. Very ugly scene surroundings and decoration. It's only a cheap manga remake. Though there was some suspense in some episodes, Toda Erica acted well too.

Pretty different from most dramas. The story involves a gullible girl who is trapped in debt dealing with a game. She gains help from a swindler to get through these mind games. LOL but the ending..., all I can say that the premise for the guy starting Liar Game was kind of stupid. Basically the ending sorta killed it.

Uuuuh... this one's hard to grade and even hard to comment on. I watched it, because I like Matsuda Shota and I liked it and this might also be because I like Matsuda Shota. I'm not sure, whether it'd be as good without him, since he really puts an interesting role to life. Not really your average drama, but enjoyable.

The very special of this dorama is the fact that You can't stop watching for some days xD
And always when I found something strange in the end it would be explained as necessary. That and the really cool character Akiyama (Matsuda Shota) - even he doesn't show much expression - makes this dorama absolutely brilliant!!

I enjoyed the drama, even though I got the message of the drama from episode one. They just had to exaggerate everything and used extreme cases, which sometimes in very unbearable to watch. Other than that, it was really entertaining to watch. I am definitely more of a Nao-chan. BUT I'm just stupid, not pure. lol

Dropped after 2 episodes. Acting was terrible. The videos sent to the Liar Game participants is downright silly. (Saw rip-off? Parody? What the hell were they trying to do there?)

I thought the premise was interesting though, so I checked out the manga it was based on. And I'm glad I did. It's pretty good.

That's a interesting dorama! You will never get bored watching it. Every minute of this dorama catchs your attention. The Matsuda Shota character is so smart and cool, every time he have a plan that changes everything. Toda Erika is very beautiful and plays a innocent girl that is help by akiyama-san. Its a fun and cool dorama!

You would get bored if you couldn't undertand the game, well for me this drama needed more concentration to watched and then made me get addicted. it was funny to saw erika's stupid face here and i didn't believe that the genius akiyama and kanzaki nao could be an excellent partner.

A very interesting drama, in which each episode left me wanting more. This is definitely a must see. And Matsuda Shota's portrayal of Akiyama Shinichi was perfect. :)

Pretty good. My only problem with it is the nativity of some characters.
