I liked this dorama. It's pretty interesting, and the little "stories" made up by the siblings trio in between may seem a little pointless and filler-ish to the main plot, but they ARE hilarious and somewhat related to the larger story at hand.
I think the acting for this dorama was pretty good. I loved all the hilarious bits of the eldest brother being a dork or just too weird for his siblings. They are hilarious lmao.
Despite all the laughs, there's always a darker looming plot lurking in the background of course, and I think the contrast is pretty nicely done. i didn't have much expectations when i went into this but surprisingly, i had a really good time. i'm glad that it had more funny moments than not. i give mostly all the credits to nino! he did an amazing job. he pulled off both the fun & serious side of his character. i thought the three siblings had really great chemistry, they were believable. jun did a great job as well. the theme songs both by arashi and mika were top notch. i was a little bit surprised of the ending. it was really well done. my only beef is i hoped mika's role was more substantial. i do love her! | | Reviewed by weetzie_bat on 20 April 2009 | | 3. | I really didn't like the last episode...>__< [Rating: 7/10]
Halfway through it I thought I was gonna give it an 8/10 or even a 9/10, depending on how it went on...but then I didn't like that much the 2nd half and, most of all, I almost completely disliked the final episode (except the very last minutes, that is)...imho it's a big disappointment since it was well written (with witty dialogues and very funny moments, despite the main plot) and also well acted, both by the leads and by the supporting cast.
Such a shame to screw it with the ending, really...T__T

Just finished watching it today, and all i could say is well done!!
well done to the actors (especially nino and erika) in potrayin their characters.
The scene between kouichi, tai and shi can bring you to tears and laughter as well.
Even though the ending is quite unacceptable (for me =p) but this story is really enjoyable.
It teaches you to value your life more and don't get worked up on your anger and revenge.

8.5 to 8.75. I was expecting something as heavy as Last Friends but it turned out to be more lighthearted esp the first few episodes. The metadrama is particularly clever, however, and the back and forth between the adult and young ariake siblings were very artistic, showing how their childhood became something that imprison them in the present. Great chemistry between nino, ryo and toda erika. I dont know why ppl say Matsujun is the best actor bc clearly Nino is the better actor. He was ariake kouichi all the way through and not Ninomiya. Ryo is really adding to his resume with all these different roles he plays this year and I love this idiotic Tai Ni figure. Toda Erika is great like always. I am not quite sure the function of Mika in here aside from comic relief and I wish that the drama had incorporated her more. The ending wasn't surprising and I found the whole swindling thing was rather far-fetched but as a whole it was a nice drama, a heartwarming relationship between 3 siblings and a reminder to cherish what one has in life | | 2. | Comments by Jeanxi [Rating: 7/10]
A drama that started great, lost its appeal about halfway through due to a lack of interesting developments, then picked up again around ep. 7/8, and finally ended on an extremely lame note. It really caught my attention at first because of its mix of drama and comedy. So naturally, when it became more predictable and a lot less funny, the story went downhill IMO. However, the intensified drama in some later episodes gave me hope that the drama will turn out good after all, but the ending, though a little surprising, was somewhat of a letdown. The killer's reason for killing the siblings' parents is just too lame no matter how I look at it. Nonetheless, points to siblings, but Ninomiya in particular, for their good acting; I feel like there are scenes when I can really see their inner struggle, which brought me to the verge of tears (but it wasn't quite there yet). I love the background music and the Nakashima Mika song they used in the drama, though her role in the drama was kind of pointless, confusing, and weird. | | 3. | Comments by Amber [Rating: 9/10]
I finally watched the last episode!
RnK belongs to one of my favorite doramas, it is unbelievable how hilarious it is at some parts (and everyone from the cast did their best in contributing to the funnyness especially Kiritani Kenta, he was great [why isnt he mentioned in as cast member?!]).
The dorama could really manage to balance the funny moments and the really touching, serious moments (esp. in the last episode).
Everyone gave a great performance. And this dorama is really a great piece of work.
Why not 10 !? I am not sure, maybe because the doramas i gave 10 points to really kept me watching it one after the other episode and ryuusei not).
But it is still a very outstanding dorama also with regard to its narrative aspects. I really recommend it and even though i know the end, i would watch it again! Definitely. | | 4. | Comments by aiscess [Rating: 8/10]
Honestly, I thought that this would be a dark drama just like Byakuyako, since both has the same writer, but then, why they asked Kudo Kankuro to do the screenplay? It really made no sense, so when their swindling adventures began, that�fs when I realized, that is Kudo�fs specialty.
At first, I was pretty much interested on their swindling adventures rather than the main plot but it shifted halfway through. But still, it was their swindling escapade that made me really hooked on this series.
As for the culprit, he was the first person I suspected, so it really came as a surprise when I learned that I was right all along. But what a lame excuse for committing such a crime, 2 lives were lost because of that. | | 5. | Comments by Shachihoko [Rating: 7/10]

Jun, both of them did a wonderful job on acting their roles. The ending was shocking and I was not expecting that! I won't spoil it.. When I saw the final "evidence" I was stunned, "Omg! No Way!!" Even hoping it wasn't true..
I am in love with the opening theme song called "Beautiful Days" by Arashi, I find their song fits perfectly for the show and it is really catchy! I have been singing along when the intros come up.
Also, Mika Nakashima's (she was pretty random in the show...) "Orion," but it is very repeatable on every episodes. It like you know that you are already in the middle of the show or closing. A bit too predicting... =/ | | 6. | Comments by tachan [Rating: 10/10]
There are so many good things about this drama. The lead actors are all very good (especially Ninomiya). It's a mystery about three siblings who are trying to solve the case of who murdered their parents without the help of the police so that they can avenge their parents on their own terms. The chemistry between them is very good, they look like they could be siblings (Ryo has reminded me of Nino at times in the past), and they seem very close. The story is original (and based on a popular novel). It can be dark and scary, but at the same time, it made me laugh often, which is hard to pull off. I was about to write a review but I skimmed through the reviews/comments and Jeanxi's comment pretty much sums up how I felt about the show.
I had my doubts at first when I saw Erika Toda on the cast list, but her acting wasn't too bad in this show. Better than anything I've seen her in, at least.
The reveal of the murderer at the end was rather disappointing. It felt like they forced in a twist for the sake of having a twist. I'd have preferred if they stuck to a simpler, more predictable answer to the mystery behind their father's death. | | 8. | Comments by g_hunter1 [Rating: 8/10]
During the start of the drama, you probably would have thought that this was some family type drama. Then in the middle your like "what's up with all these little scenarios." I think they were just trying do use different forumulas for this drama, which didn't seem to fully set the tone of the drama to me. It was pretty interesting but it just detracted from the main storyline. I guess they did it to show how these characters were but didn't work much for me. Overall, this was more of a mystery drama. This one is brilliant! It has everything that I like: interesting plot, great mystery stories, funny scenes and awesome cast. Higanisho Keigo did an awesome job writing this. I'm fond of movies and dramas that were created by his novels. Talking about actors, I think that Toda deserved those 3 awards that got back then. She did great job acting here. I really liked her character. Ninomiya was better then Nishikido. Somehow, I felt that Nino and Toda were both main and Ryo was left on supporting. Quite a nice dorama... Intriguing and at the same time funny (a different concept that i've never seen in any other dorama) but they kind of lost it in the last episodes. Btw... the ending is a big letdown... The reason for the murders is just ridiculous. The casting is pretty nice (not the best though) honestly i dindt expect the chemistry that Ninno, Nishikido and Toda showed. Nice one! I like it when characters are not "pure" as I believe real people are never all good and pure. Kudo Kankuro responsible for for the script of this drama is someone who (I believe) thinks like that as well. We get a great trio of far from perfect siblings who try to revenge their parents�L murder. Only minus for me was the lacking chemistry between Toda Erika and Kaname Jun, essential to the story and the reasons of the killings. Everybody came to love Nino's performance in this but I've seen him acted way better in his earlier works. RnK is a bit overrated but it deserves all the accolades just because.. it got soul. Ariake 3 chemistry is quite amazing. I have my doubts on Ryo but he impressed me as the middle child (however I personally think it would be much more interesting if Toma was casted instead like what they had planned originally). Great drama! All-star cast, SUPER acting (especially by NINO!) and a great story. I thoroughly enjoyed this drama for its entire run. I can't believe it's already over! This drama deserved 1 or 2 more episodes than it was given. There was some disappointment that a couple of the side-characters were not as fleshed out as they could have been. The plot has a very nice combination of touching moments and comedy. Just when you're starting to feel stressed by all the suspense and mystery, the actors act a bit cute and funny to lighten the mood.

I thought this drama was going to be serious all throughout after i read what it was about. Well it was serious, but it had a lot of funny moments in each episodes. a lot of flashbacks going back to the serious storyline, and going back to the present storyline which provided a bit more comedy. i've never seen a drama like this before, completely different as far as the flow of the story, but really enjoyed it. | | 17. | Comments by nienna [Rating: ?/10]
I love it. Nino was so good in his acting till I can never tell what are his next actions. Seriously, I did not expect the ending to be like that. A really big surprise!! Although I don't like Nishikido, I have to admit that he was really good in his role as the younger brother. I didn't know what to make of this dorama when I first started watching. By the end of the 4th episode I really got into it. It became somewhat apparent to me by the end of episode 8 who killed the parents, but I couldn't figure out the motive. Once I realized the motive...it just seemed so senseless. I really loved this drama, although it was based on a sad story, it was very entertaining, thrilling/exciting and amusing. They made a great mix out of sad and touching scenes and amusing happenings like the swindling. Toda, Ninomiya and Nishikido made an awesome trio as the siblings and all of them have improved their acting! Contrary to many of the viewers I prefer the begining to the end of this dorama. I think that ninomiya played well, even though I'm not one of his fan. Toda Erika is cute. Really interesting dorama, i watch the whole series in just one night. I like watching Nino in this series, he seems more mature and more handsome.
i like how they make a serious dorama with a bit comedy without ruined the story. |
