There are only a few dramas that leave me wanting more and this was one of them. I was completely enthralled in this series and was honestly surprised when I came to the end of the last episode. The unfortunate thing is that we never know how long he lasts on the island, or if he continues to raise the kids himself, or if he marries his sweetheart. But what we got were fabulous performances, by Sakaguchi Kenji especially, and a great drama overall. With its colourful characters and beautiful scenery, Narumi is the kind of place that can only exist in fiction, though its problems are based on those of a real place. |

Not a terrible drama but nothing terribly good about it either. I've seen this small island and it's people tale before and with much more interesting characters. This show also lays on the sentimentality and moralizing pretty thick. |
