Production and acting are as good as JIN 1, although the plot is a bit more melodramatic. But the cast is really what makes this drama click, offering an appealing set of multi-dimensional characters from historic Edo. Kudos to Osawa Takao as Jin; he has the kind of quiet authority born from a wide-ranging acting resume. The colorful views of old Japan are captivating, and the surgery scenes grab you every time.

Instead of writing a review on the characters and plot again, since little aspired since the first season, I will say that I found the explanation of the time travel a good one. They used the globally accepted theory seen in western culture as well in the science fiction world, and even though it was explained in a rushed and unsatisfactory manner in the end of the drama, the logic itself was sound.
The part about Ryoma and Jin being "one", however, didn't make any sense and there was little in the drama in clarify this situation.

well writing story..great lining cast.
but for one who root for jin-saki love..prepared to feel dissapointed.
it not gonna happen..poor saki~

This dorama was just awesome. The most beautiful relationship is the one between Sakamoto-dono and Minakata-sensei, without doubt; it made me cry several times. I felt so sorry for Saki too. This second season was more focused on historical events so I learned quite a few things, but it was hard for me to follow conversations sometimes (maybe because of the English used for the subtitles, specially for Sakamoto-dono and Nokaze-san). Again, Nakatani Miki was superb and really, really beautiful. And Uchino Masaaki was impressive too; I love his version of Sakamoto Ryôma. I loved seeing some well-known actors in there too, and acting of the main characters was great: I could almost feel the pain they were feeling sometimes, with few exceptions. About the plot, I've always thought it's dangerous to play with time travel, but JIN was OK with that; dialogs between Saki and Jin are just all the questions the public may have while watching the series. The dorama became quite cheesy at some points, but production and acting was so good I just kept watching the episodes, without thinking very much about the unlikeliness of some medical details, because everything helped to expain the story. They also played well with the role of a doctor in the middle of great battles, facing many problems that, unfortunately, we still have in our present time. Last episode is 1.5 hours long, and although it felt really short, I felt everything was going too fast; maybe one more episode could have been better. The only dorama that I tried to follow every episode when it was aired on TBS. However, due to all the ppl who want to watch the show live, the KeyHoleTV's server was collpased and didn't work properly, being impossible to watch and listen it well.
This second season of this popular dorama arrive to its conclusion, having the opportunity to watch how the circle that began in the 1st one will be closed. In this second season the plot moves around Jin (Takao Osawa), Ryoma (Masaaki Uchino), Saki (Haruka Ayase) and Nokaze (Miki Nakatani) again. In spite of having passed two years from the 1st season, there aren't any difference from the initial one, it's like nothing changed, if you like the 1st one you will end up liking this new one. The cast is the same, and their performances are impressive like always. However, unlike the 1st season this 2nd focus more on the historical events of the Meiji Restoration, from the point of view of Jin and Ryoma. It's true that it's interesting for looking forward to know more about this Era of the history of Japan, however they are so politically correct that even facts and events explianed in the past of Rurouni Kenshin are more accurate to the reality than the explained in this tv show. But the main difference between the two seasons is in the final episodes, in there at last is where they explain what happened to Jin and his close friends. | | 3. | Comments by occultangle [Rating: 9/10]
Compared to the first series this series suffers in a few areas. First of all, it drags in a few points, particularly in the beginning. The first episode was good, but for several episodes after that they start going off on trivial tangents, like Jin in prison, things which would have been OK in the first series, but are quite annoying later on when I am expecting them to get on with things. I was actually quite worried that it would all go to ruin, but they do eventually get on with it, but that's where the second problem comes in; this series is noticeably cheesier than the first, but considering that the plot is about a modern day doctor in the Edo era, it's nearly impossible to not be cheesy. So I can mostly forgive that problem. Also the ending was upsetting to me, I'm not saying it's the wrong ending, and you can see it coming considering some of the earlier dialog, but it certainly didn't make me feel any better. But regardless of what I, or anyone else might say, both seasons put together make for one of the most epic, amazing drama series ever made. JIN had to have been one of the greatest drama series of the past decade. It touched my heart in a way that no other drama has come even close, with its admirable characters and absorbing stories. Its sequel was no exception. Despite some faltering in the initial half, where it tried just a bit too hard to do the same amazing things that the first series did, JIN just as much touched my heart and brought a tear to my eye at the end. Though Osawa Takao was the star, Ayase Haruka, Nakatani Miki and Uchino Masaaki shone even more brightly in season 2, as they became some of the most interesting and well-played characters I have ever seen. I don't know what else to say about this series! It was so wonderful to watch! The fusion of fantasy and history was spot on and the conclusion brought a broad smile to my face as well as tears. I enjoyed the first season, but like many sequels, the second season didn't live up to my expectations. The acting by most of the male cast was overly dramatic, which made the plot seem cheap and cheesy. The female cast, including Ayase Haruka, Aso Yumi, and Nakatani Miki, were excellent in comparison. Didn't enjoy this as much as the first season. It lacked the medical discoveries and technological breakthroughs, offering instead a confusing political/historical plot line.
