One of the best drama of the decade! How can I not love this one?? But, for me...there are some things missing. It's a great story, alright! Reeaaally love the opening credits(matched very well with the COOL themesong! Which is one of my favorite DORAMA themesong), love the cheerful & bright atmosphere, and the relationship between the characters are just great. It's just Takuya and Tomoko lack on chemistry...their love story is just blur(i dunno how to describe), but it just don't hit you, y'know! Oh, well...still like it, anyway!^_^

I think most of you must have watched Long Vacation. This dorama is rated number two (after Tokyo Love Story) of Most Favourite Dorama .I think what makes me interested on watching (and buying) this series was I want to know the progress of relationships between Minami and Sena. Eventhough it turns out as everyone has predicted, the fight, laugh and tears on reaching it is the most important. Oh yeah, the piano sounds is very nice too. |

One of my all time favorites. A lot of fun and very refreshing, with loveable and funny characters. No self-pity around here, just positive attitude and a loud message 'Live your life !' A very good thing with J-dorama is once again: the amazingly cool soundtrack. The ending was no surprise! Typical Kimura type character and Yamaguchi's character could drive people crazy!! Her character will stay with you for a while. The sound track is simply great and I have the 3 CDs version in my collection. Good romantic plot, amazing cast and good music, just can't beat this combination. |

WAS ranked no.1 here in the TOP 50, and I read some comments about this drama, so I thougt this was going to surpass my expectation built by LOVE GENERATION, sorry but I was disappointed. Tomoko was great, but I thought this drama was an average. Boring at times. If you are reading this, this is an unbiased comments, I am a big fan of Kimura Takuya, Matsu Takako, Yutaka, Tomoko, and Izumi, so I would never say anything bad about their acting, but the story was kinda slow and it really disappoint me, BIG TIME. Thought it would be more SUPERB because of the casting. The writer of this story did a poor job. Watch it or buy it, it's all up to you. You have been warned. Good collection though for Kimura Takuya and Matsu Takako fans. |

A classic drama that shouldn't be missed. Kimura Takuya again shines in "Long Vacation" where he plays the memorable character, Sena who falls in love with an older woman, an ex-model who happens to show up at his door one fine morning. The chemistry between the two characters was great and I loved how it portrayed the struggles that each of them had to go through in their respective careers. Ie. Sena having trouble "making it" in the piano world while Minami was having trouble finding modeling jobs since she was getting old. However, the two of them somehow make it through together. Highly recommended. |

You can see why this drama is so popular. Yamaguchi Tomoko lights up the screen, and Kimura as the geeky piano teacher is adorable. Love the long conversations between Yamaguchi and Kimura. The writing of this drama is excellent. Matsu Takako and Takenouchi Yutaka also play good roles in this drama, a more refined Matsu and Yutaka as "Animal Shinji". I also have to mention Yamaguchi's model friend who is hilarious and great comic relief. |

La la la laaa Looove Sooong~! Probably my most favorite drama I've ever seen. Incredible cast all virtually in the beginning stages of their acting career. The characters are what really hit this drama out the park for me. They have great chemistry with one another, and there's really no "villain". Minami starts off really annoying but so charming that you can't really hate her. The intro is very nice; it reminds me of like a Japanese-version of "Friends" and the theme song is one of the catchiest I've ever heard for a drama. Truly an entertaining classic love story with a little bit of everything. |

Great play by Kimutaku. He is indeed one of the best actors today. Plus, i really love the soundtrack, especially the one that Kimutaku plays at his last performance, it's called "Minami". Also, you get to see young Ryoko in this drama.. :P.. and also.. Takako Matsu plays her role very neatly.. I like the calm and nice character of Ryoko, the one she plays. |

Great acting and the characters they played by Takuya Kimura and Tomoko Yamaguchi. Takuya suits very well with his matured character and Tomoko plays her role as if she's having a blast.
The supporting actress Izumi Inamori is great as well. But I think Yutaka Takenouchi is kind of lanky in his role. |

I can watch Long Vacation so many times. This is such a memorable, beautiful, and needless to say, poetic, drama. The model friend was a tad annoying, but overall, the characters were very tangible and unique in their own ways. Sena's shy and tender character brings warmth to the drama and Minami's sass brings humour and liveliness to the drama's somewhat slow pace. Of course, some of the most memorable moments are when these two are together. The final scene was one of my favorite.
BTW- Long Vacation has a kick-ass OST. |

This is another love story which I highly recommend. I love most of everything about it. The script is marvelous, so is the OST and BGM. I also am totally in love with the central idea of a 'long vacation' i.e. god's way of telling you to take a break when EVERY SINGLE THING is not going your way. From the first scene we see Minami running down the street in her wedding garb, to all the tears and laughter, the philosophy, all the piano pieces! to the very end... *continues gushing* I love all the little moments. Snow that's pure and snow that's been trampled. How a tough person won't cry in front of others but can do so in front of 'furniture'. And what sort of a sweet guy is Sena, to eat paper just so he can spare Minami of more grief! In a way, you know how everything will end, but they keep you hanging enough to keep you guessing. At one point, I'd bet all my money on the photographer, for example. Great acting that made you roll on the floor laughing and made you teary-eyed along with them. In conclusion, a great drama for Kimura's resume and your collection. |

Wow! What a super dorama and a fantastic cast to pull off a series filled with humor, unpredictability, disappointment, misunderstandings and the ultimate reward of loyalty to the heart. Takuya Kimura is one of our favorite actors and his performance was outstanding as always. Another favorite, Takako Matsu, did well in her role as Ryoko and kept us wondering if she and Hidetoshi (Kimura's character) would ever come together. It was also nice to see another favorite of ours - a young Ryoko Hirosue as a gifted piano student. The leading role (Minami), played by Tomoko Yamaguchi, was performed outstandingly! This was the first time we've seen Tomoko and the way she played the oftentimes annoying and pestering Minami won our hearts hands down. The storyline was excellent and highlighted by the emotionally powerful performance of Hidetoshi Senna in the music contest ... but did Minami actually make it to the concert hall to hear it? Watch the dorama for the answer! Finally, enjoyed the dorama's theme "La La La Love Song!" |

The one that made Kimutaku famous.... or so its said. Even though other than him I was not familiar with the cast, I thoroughly enjoyed this nice little drama. The characters are played well and even though there is somewhat of an age gap between the two main characters, the storyline was convincing while not allowing the relationship to develop a sort of old woman goes out with far younger men type feel. The plot is well worked such that even until the last episode, the watcher is left wondering who will end up with whom.
As I play the piano myself, it was nice to see a very well written 'Ryoko-chan' character whose delicate and indecisive emotional state resembled a few of my near-virtuoso-level musician friends. :P |

Great acting and interaction by most characters, and the depiction of the lead female character is an instant classic. The drama has many small shining moments just because of her. Love that so much! I thought it was boring after the first episode and wanted to drop it, but I continued watching because I had nothing else to do and became addicted! The characters are just all unique and loveable, and the plot is greatly written! It won't bore you one second after you started the second episode.

I was always skeptical of early/mid-90s dramas. Most of the ones I tried watching were unfunny, predictable, and poorly written. Long Vacation blew away that stereotype. The writing is natural, smart, and quite funny. The characters are complex and believable. The dynamic between Senna and Minami is so perfect you almost wish they could continue forever as friends without the complexities of romance. So well written and acted you'll even excuse the cheap Ben Folds Five plugs! |

Didn't think that I would like it (not really a fan of romance stories), but it turned out to be very touching. My heart goes jittery as I witness the love tension between the two main characters. Thanks to the thorough character development, you experience a sense of attachment to the characters. The actors brought out amazing chemistry with never over-the-board acting. It keeps you wishing them a good ending from the bottom of your heart. As a simple love story, this one was perfectly executed. |

It's been awhile since I watch an older drama. Despite the fact that this drama is more than decade old now it shows its age very little, except in the fashions, hairstyles, etc. Kimura Takuya has aged very well, for one, and he could play the role of Sena now just as he did then! I enjoyed him the most in this drama for sure. I would have skipped this drama if I had not been watching it with a group of friends. I'm glad I did! I enjoyed the more mature themes and views of love and marriage. It was very refreshing to see adults acting like adults! |

I think the real gems were hidden in the structure: some of the side characters were really fun dramatic explorations more than they were full characters. Momoko was great for this! What a weird device she was - much more a toy for the writer/director than a character in the show, really..
Most of the commentary was pretty surfacey, nothing overly deep here. Yamaguchi Tomoko stood out much more than Kimura Takuya (who was much better in Beautiful Life, in my opinion). Her character was really a pleasure to watch and interact with through the drama.
I think the discussion of Ryoko's innocence was kinda fun too. She was otherwise forgettable. |

OH MY GOSH! I just finished this drama and I loved it! In all honesty, out of all the jdrama's I have watched with KimuTaku in it, he was the least so-called "attractive" in this one. This is because he played an unmotivated pianist who in my primary perception had a lack of social skills! The lead character was bright and quirky and I loved her. When she started changing Sena and vise versa their character's became more and more interesting. I was rooting for them to get together the whole time and I thought this drama was amazing! It taught me some things about life :-) |

i really liked this one. this is my first Kimura Takuya drama, and he doesn't say that much in the drama but i liked him. i was glad the main girl character didn't piss me off, but instead she was fun and strong and vunerable at the same time. i hated the character Ryoko, but... anyway the drama is really good, and the first episode really interested me and made me want to keep watching |

I am of the opinion that this drama is way overrated. Didn't really enjoy it. Couldn't feel the two main leads. Even made me really dislike the main actor and i still do. Or perhaps i really am not into love stories per se.
Watched this in the mid-90s on local TV so my memory of it is quite hazy. The saving grace was of course Shinji's scenes. What a wacky character.
Bought the VCD set but with so many dramas to watch, there's never time to rewatch this to give it another chance perhaps to change my opinion about it. But thinking of the two main lead characters really puts me off. |
