1. Very Good. [Rating: 8/10]
This drama is very good and in some ways reminds me of Otousan, such as Natsuo having to deal with his younger sibling's issues and being helped along the way by Yuki. Also like Otousan, this drama is both very funny and very heartwarming, though it's also bittersweet. What I really like about this drama is that none of the subplots drag on for any longer than they need to, like Jun wanting to become a teacher and the fight for Chika to keep her baby. The romance between Natsuo and Yuki was sweet, charming, and heartbreaking.

I like all the characters. Natsuo is a solid character, very mature and learns how to be a father to his younger siblings even though he was really a bit too young to really be a father. However, I will say that Natsuo was at times annoying when he acted like a loud chatter box. For Tsuyoshi, this is a better role than he got in Moto Kare but I still like his character better in To Heart. Ryoko's character was cute, sweet, and really unselfish. I'm really starting to like Ryoko more and more after watching her in this drama and in the French movie, Wasabi. I was really impressed with Oguri Shun's acting in this drama as Natsuo's hearing-impaired younger brother, especially after watching him play a much different roll as a ruthless gangster in Smile. He really pulled off two rolls that couldn't be anymore different.

On the downside, I found a couple of the characters to be annoying, especially Chika and Seiji in episode 9. The ending was also a little bit too bittersweet, and I felt that this drama deserved a much better soundtrack. Moto Kare, another drama with Domoto Tsuyoshi and Hirosue Ryoko, had a much better soundtrack despite its bland story. If only Summer Snow had Moto Kare's soundtrack I would have liked this drama much more.

Still, despite some of the flaws I really liked this drama. I give it a solid 8.5/10 and recommend it to any jdrama fan.

2. taboo for action/reality seeker [Rating: 10/10]
i found that most people criticize this drama for being not real. then i think you should ask yourself why you watch dorama at first place. dorama is never being about reality. and yurp, no ass kicking action in this dorama. so, you better leave this dorama alone.

what i can sense in this dorama is about story of love between 2 normal people (still some people accusing it as lack of reality), some good, sometimes dumbass, but kind hearted bicycle shop owner meet with typical sick, dying, gentle banker. what so unreal bout this? something unreal is when one rich handsome guy who spoil his life through night party meet with an angel who also some rich pretty lady who will save his life from misery while during their love story continue, they show off each other with their luxury life like some red ass kicking ferarri, big bugalow at the top of most beautiful hill on earth. that's the definition of unreal.

this dorama is the best in term of emotion. it's bring the best of our emotion, tearing us apart and remind us on how important love is. for me, this movie make me appreciating my family more than before. i realize that life is short and shit happened. anytime in your life, death may came and take your love one away from you. love them, embrace them, appreciate them, kiss them, hug them, spend your time with them before you'll regret it.

eventhough the ending suck, but the world not promising happy ending for you as always you may seen on TV or drama (another reality for FUCKING reality seeker). life is so not perfect. :)

3. Oh, please. -_- [Rating: 5/10]
Tsuyoshi is a surprisingly good actor. For the most part, he's very funny and engaging. Shun Oguri is wonderful as Jun, and Ryoko Hirosue is an enjoyable Yuki, despite crying hysterically and rather irritatingly throughout the entire show. Even Tsubasa Imai did a decent job, which is notable, as he doesn't appear to have much experience in the drama department.

This show was great -- I laughed, I cried, I imagined Jun naked, I had a good time -- UNTIL THE LAST EPISODE, which was completely and utterly god-awful. I was rolling my eyes so hard I thought my head might explode. Seriously. I won't give away the ending, but I will say that the thought crossed my mind early on -- maybe episode 4 or 5 -- and I dismissed it, saying, "Nah, that's way too stupid and cliched. The wouldn't actually use that for the ending." Well, uh... they did. And if you have more than half a brain, I'm sure you'll pick up on exactly what they're going to do WAY before they actually do it... and you'll laugh because the idea is so lame and played out, then you'll think to yourself, "Oh, god. Why did I waste 10 hours of my life watching this drama? I CAN NEVER GET THAT 10 HOURS BACK AGAIN!"

The ending ruins the entire series. If you absolutely MUST see Summer Snow, please don't bother downloading or watching episode 11, as you will regret it for the rest of your mortal life.

Thank you.

4. A Wonderful Masterpiece [Rating: 10/10]
This is only the second dorama that I was been able to get my hands on recently. I'm happy that I got it because my real life seems unfulfilling. When I first watched this, I didn't know what to expect, as I don't really support watching soap operas that often. What I found, as I watched along with this dorama, is that there is more you can learn if you watch deeply.

Summer Snow is very realistic in a way that it doesn't make you think of the predictablilty of life and because the dorama doesn't hint on what happens next, you have to watch and become drawn into its fingers. You watch each of the characters grow and metamorphosis right before your eyes and that's completely beautiful, all because of Natsuo.

Some may say that that is a very boring thing, and I understand that this is not everyone's cup of tea, but there is no reason not to say "don't watch this." If you cut through THIS dorama, you've just wasted the entire series. I seriously recommend this to others to watch, but don't make the mistake of it becoming your first tear jerker. ^_^; My first dorama was Hana Yori Dango with MasaJun. ^^

I hope this helped.. <3

5. Fantabulous [Rating: 9/10]
summer snow kept me up from the beginning to the end. i didn't even want to skip the opening and ending song..lol.
first off, the storyline is awesome. it portrays reality - typical days in Japan, but at the same time the story seems so original. you'll understsand when you watch.
next, this drama features a great cast that made the soap feel so realistic. development of relationship is definitely a plus as well - nothing was rushy..everything flowed smoothly.
then we have the ending, which in my opinion, is vital for adding extra props for summer snow! for me personally, it was unpredictable. if you take the dialogues (at the end) to a deeper level, you'll totally understand just how fulfilling of a meaning the ending creates for natsuo and yuki, and of course the audience.
the music rocks, as always. the ending video matches perfectly with the song. yay for kinki kids! =)

all in all, this drama is one of the best i've ever seen so far. i'm satisfied now that i'm done with it. so give it a try! i hope you'll enjoy it as much as i did. *have a tissue box within your reach!*

Summer Snow is an unexpected gem. I was putting off watching this dorama for a long, long time until I've finished off some others. I saw the first couple of episodes which seemed slow. But when I finally got down to watching the rest of the dorama, it got me completed hooked. I felt involved and engrossed in the situations all the characters were in, and I laughed and teared up with them. Dohmoto Tsuyoshi acted as the caring, comical and big hearted elder brother to perfection. It was his strength and spirit that inspired and guided his siblings and those who got to know him. What a great memorable character. Oguri Shun played the semi-deaf brother very well. The rest of the supporting cast also performed well, and their characters are authentic and relatable. There is not a false note in their performances, that is why Summer Snow is very memorable to me. It is a simple but moving tale about life, values and love. The soundtrack is very fitting and beautiful.

7. a True drama [guaranteed tear jerker] [Rating: 8/10]
The Story::
The first episodes were so fun to watch, full of youth and energy, that, when the story concluded, I was left feeling really annoyed. I dont like watching these types of shows. But, I definitely agree that the way the story was played out made the show the hit that it is today. It did not give the cliched ending, and although I kinda guessed what might happened, I was still on the edge until the very end.
The Actors::
This was Dohmoto and Hirosue's show. They played the characters so well and convincing. Although Dohmoto got annoying sometimes with his preaching, he remained a generously kind and classy young man. Hirosue's charm convinced me to be her fan :)
In Summary::
If your looking for a drama, this is it. Like everyone said, make sure you have the tissue ready, especially for eps 10 & 11.
"Otsukimi" portion of episode 10 are my favorite scenes in all of the jdoramas! That alone made the show worth watching :)

Actually, I was really surprised when I saw that this was ranked second in the drama ranking. I knew this was good, but seriously didn't expect it to win even some of the all-time favourites. Tsuyoshi really portrayed his character really well. You can actually see him getting really angry when the script calls for it. The ending was a little tragic though. Why did Tsuyoshi have to die? Also, I feel that Chizuru tried a little too hard here. Theres a scene at the beginning of the drama when her back was facing the camera and she turned all the way around to look directly in the camera. She was also really loud. She sounded as she was screaming out the script for her parts... to portray as the 'bitchy' (no offence though) character that shw was supposed to be? I don't have enough votes to include this drama though. Sorry :)

9. so sweet [Rating: 10/10]
this is definitely 10 out of 10..

I know the story line is a bit predictable.. esp. in the last episode where natsuo disappears so suddenly..

one thing is also lacking.. why dont yuki just go to america and go back to be with natsuo again? they are just overreacting that time..

anywayss.. i always smile when natsuo and yuki got together, theyre so sweet. not too explicit in their relationship, they have not even kissed ey? the one yuki kissed in the last episode was only her imagination rite?

i hate when yuki comes to the shop finding natsuo has died.. but actually its sad and romantic at the same time.. yuki and natsuo finally dive together, with natsuo inside yuki's body ;p

this drama is the best ive seen so far.. well done ryoko chan xoxoxo

I wasn't expecting this too be so much emotive, but..Um..I guess I can say that from start till end, I've cried my eyes out..
From the very beginning, I felt really touched. I immediately sympatized with the main character's family, because problems that they have would be sufficient for four families. See them struggle through their life, have fights with each other, but in the end overcome every obstacle like a family..that was really inspiring to watch.
Even if the end was kinda predictable (at least for me), still..I was unsure about anything almost till the very end. This was the first "really sadly ending dorama", which I've ever watched and it will always hold special place in my heart..

Ive just discovered Japanese Dramas recently and let me tell you there is NOTHING American I have watched that has been so involving and deep.

Summer Snow was quite a story. The ending totally predictable to me as they seem to foreshadow what will happen but nontheless, quite a good ending. I had only watched Dramas with Kimura Takuya but Im glad I gave this one a try, the male lead in this one is soo funny and after a while he grows on you and you like him as much as Kimura. I was really bawling during the last episode....I totally thought I wouldnt too cause I knew what was going to happen....but you just get to love the characters sooo much...wow...American TV sucks.

12. great [Rating: 10/10]
This is probably one of the best dramas I've seen. I watched it due to all of the great comments I read about it...and it lived up to everything I expected...actually more. It wasn't your typical love story type of sad drama with a typical ending, thus, it was very interesting to watch. If I had a list of memorable drama characters, I think Natsuo would be on it. The actors all portrayed their roles very well...and I found myself crying lots. The only thing I have to critique about this drama is the ending theme. As much as I love the song, sometimes it just didn't match the mood at the end of the episode. But it was still great. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

13. neh [Rating: 5/10]
I thought this drama was really really really slow at the beginning. I also thought most of the characters were annoying. Like I wanted to hit Chika soooo many times and everything out of Seji's mouth was ridiculous. I also didn't like Natsuo or Yuki that much. Not to mention, I thought the ending was so predicable. I mean like two episodes beforehand I already knew what was going to happen.

However, despite all that, Oguri and Tsubasa's acting and storyline was so great. I was really into the drama during that part and I really felt for their characters. They really made the drama worth watching.

The ending was sweet even though it was predicable. So it was ok.

The intro was nice, i love the fact they point out the ''summer snow'' in the beginning. Seeing tsuyoshi first entrance with his bad-morning-hair day, really CUTE! Seeing Imai Tsubasa singing his senpai's (Tsuyoshi's Jpop group, Kinki Kids) hit song kinda bring out the irony there. Very funny! The whole episodes are not complicated though, but somehow gives an impact to what's coming ahead. The ending was what somehow moves me the most! It made me feel so painful and sad just wanting to know what was really going on. I burst into tears just waiting to see the truth! I'm sure you'll agree when you see it for yourself. A must watch for JDoramas lovers!

I'm so pissed off by those who gave really low rating on this dorama on the ground of not liking tsuyoshi or johnny's jr. members. I only knew tsuyoshi tru hajime kindaichi and didin't pay much attention to him personally. Didn't really care who's in johnny jr. (except SMAP of course). Tsuyoshi portray Natsuo to perfection and the chemistry between him and ryoko is fine. Yes he is short, not cute, frumpy(in hobbit kind of way) but he is truly talented (Man..I'm not even his fan). Please GO WATCH IT AGAIN (with a clear, unbiased mind).

I've watch it with no expectation and knowing the outcome of the ending yet I was blown away by it neverthelss.

When I started watching, I was still not convinced because the actresses and actors look like average person and the first few episodes were rather boring.

Quite possibly THE greatest drama I have ever watched..and my word, I can't see any other being done better than this.

The story is fantastic, the dialogue fits well with the character's age/personality, and the acting is on par between great and excellent. The ending is plain terrific; I really didn't see it coming, and actually went back the ep's to see any links between the finale (i.e Natsuo's shirt, the interactions with the character, dialogue etc). It is truly a life altering drama, and I fully admit that it's the only one that has made me cry.

I'd say it's both a love and family drama, very sweet and heartwarming. And sad, very sad. At least for me the ending was unexpected. Good acting, Dohmoto Tsuyoshi is funny and Hirosue Ryoko irresistably cute as usual. Some scenes were way too corny, but it never got boring.

Mainly because the music was not one of those sad ones like in GTO or in Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu.

i don't really know why i bought and watched this dorama right after i watched the controversial and much commented (at least in this website) 'moto kare' starring none other than both the leading actors here.but i guess i was trying to find out more of both actors' previous works, just as a comparison of what i've seen in 'motto kare'.i'm used with hirosue ryoko's works for so long that i'm ready to take risks with any of her doramas.she's adorable and yes, i'm a fan of her especially in 'shotgun marriage'.but my interest here was more of her chemistry with dohmoto tsuyoshi, just as a fun look out. so i figured the best way to do that was watch their previous 3 years collaboration.mm...judging this dorama with my considerably wide experiences in jdorama world, i don't really think that this dorama is any good. same old script, same old typical characters, same old issues and what bother me the most was same old typical good guy dohmoto tsuyoshi. yess, i have problems with him since hundreds years ago.i don't really know why but he's just not my ideal kind of hero.he can be cute sometimes but he's just not the right person to play my type of hero. it's got nothing to do with looks but the main issue here is his lack of certain acting skills.-charming and captivating..yess,that's what i'm talking about.he's funny, there's no doubt about that but he keeps on playing his typical acting, no growth for the past decade.kind of amusing actually how he manages to be credited for his acting while i here can't even see what's so good about his performances.enuff said about him.and hirosue's performance here kind of cracked my nerves for her.she's a talented actress but she too keeps on playing the same old good-girl or kawaii girl characters.it is expected and i find it kind of boring sometimes.maybe she should try to develope her character somehow more interesting rather than gentle, kawaisou dying yuki.just show a little bit more of growth and maturity (she's a working adult after all in this dorama) and inner strength or even some girl power.that way i could really credit her for making this it's-pissing-me-off dorama much more enjoyable.

I know that the rest of the drama world loves this drama, but for reason it fell WAY short to me, most likely because of the abundancy of Johnny's Jr. like characters, most of them have just started their acting careers, so they're still a little rough around the edges. I thought that Hirose Ryoko and Dohmoto Tsuyoshi made a weird on screen couple, mostly because of their character personalities. It didn't seem to me like they were in love at all. Also, Tsuyoshi tried a LITTLE too hard to perfect his chracter, sometimes it seems a little forced, not natural. The one actor that blew me away with his acting skills what the brother who was deaf. Before I realized who he was (the student from GTO who was always getting picked on) I actually thought that he did have hearing problems. All in all, so-so.

A good drama with solid acting all round. It was definitely different seeing Tsuyoshi in this kind character, such a versatile actor. Hirosue Ryoko was very cute in this, playing a soft-spoken gentle girl, it suited her very well. And I must mention Oguri Shun, his portrayal of a hearing-impaired person was very well done. Even to a non-Japanese speaking person like myself I could tell that his speech was slightly off.

The story itself is very well written, the emotions and relationships between the characters feel very real. Sweet and touching, and the ending is sad, although a little predictable. But a little predictablility doesn't spoil the overall effect as you watch how it developes and the consequences of it. The last scene is very beautiful as well, beautifully shot.

Gave it a 10. The series was not exactly predictable, what with the surprising twists and all. The cast gave a very compelling performance, most notably Domoto Tsyuyoshi who was just plain great. I was pleasantly surprised by the other 2 actors as well--Imai Tsubasa and Oguri Shun. They managed a subtle, yet solid portrayal of a delinquent-turned-young-father and a hearing-impaired, sensitive younger brother respectively. Hirosue Ryoko lighted up the screen with her honest smile and frail demeanor and was just too beautiful for words. I sort of thought Tsuyoshi and Ryoko don't make a good on-screen couple, but they did pull it off. The storyline was also good, well-thought of. It didn't drag unecessarily, and every element in the plot was resolved properly.

Very entertaining because of the nice flow in conversations. Spectacular acting by most leading characters. Especially by the two main characters. Also a plus for not using their past, their passed away parents, as an excuse for anything. Not delving into that at all was only positive, since there are too many of those already. Some incidents/characters felt a bit fake or out of place though. I'm particularly thinking of the young policedetective and the police station chief, but fortunately they don't affect the drama much. The good things like the messages and general feelings still gets acrossed, and those aren't fake. That's the most important part. Overall a very entertaining and quite touching with a great ending.

This is an incredibly enjoyable drama to watch. The acting is absolutely amazing from the entire cast, though the one problem I had was with the main female lead, and that was not even with her acting, if was simply with her always happy, always cheerful (unless crying) character who NEVER got angry, or joked, or did anything besides being polite, nice, and crying. But that just me - I thought the best cast members were Ikewaki as Chika and Dohmoto as Natsuo - their brother/sister relationship went through a lot of hurdles, but it was extremely sastifying to watch. Extremely well-acted, well thought out play. 9/10 - I want more anger out of the female lead! (Those who have watched should know why.)

I was certain I knew how this was going to end as soon as I started watching. Man was I ever right, and completely wrong. When I think of the popularity of this, and the popularity of things like 1 liter of tears, or Beautiful Life, it's hard not to presume this would turn out to be simply a Kinki Kids teeny bopper version, but they really turn the theme on its head, while still following the same path. The ending alone was surprising, unique, and good enough to think fairly highly of this drama.

Outside of the ending though, most everything is pretty generic and underwhelming to me. Nothing particularly bad, but I still can't help but feel this is largely over rated with a gimmicky ending.

This is your typical Japanese romantic story with an illness thrown in. I have literally cried at some point in much of the dramas I have watched and maybe it's because I'm simply exhausted with the same similar plot line - but Summer Snow does not do the most effective job of portraying the romance between Natsuo and Yuki. Yuki's performance also got quite irritating at times, but she did play the disabled semi-hopeless female alright. Overall I think this drama is a nice one but not the masterpiece many people tout it to be. Instead I'd recommend the excellent and emotional performances in Beautiful Life and even in Orange Days, both of which have similar plot lines and characters.

Ahh, summer snow. There are so many things to this drama that make it heartwarming, and you feel good after watching each episode. Only bad thing i could think of is the little girl. AAAH did anyone else think she was annoying looking at her cue cards so frequently while talking to the people with no expression whatsoever. her eyes just kept going back and forth from person to a space behind/to the side of the person while speaking one continuous sentence that it felt very unnatural. It doesnt bother me, its just very noticeable. One more thing - To the writer of this drama, the one that came up with that ending = pure genius, make more like this, best drama ending ive seen.

Excellent drama. 'though i aint the cryin' type, it gave me goosebumps 'specially the last few episodes -- d@rn that Summer Snow song! LOL. Ending's kinda' predictable once you get halfway through the last episode. Great acting by the cast.. the male cast that is -- Dohmoto Tsuyoshi was hilarious; he's a natural on the acting department. Oguri Shun -- whatta' looker! Excellent acting as well. Tsubasa Imai -- loved him here! wahaha! seeing Hiroto cower with fear and apologizing like hell to Natsuo cracked me up big time! Hirosue Ryoko -- erhm, all Yuki ever did here was act strong, cling on Natsuo and smile a lot. Bwahaha.

One of the most touching series ever. With Dohmoto Tsuyoshi and Ryoko Hirosue as inspiring leads and a great side cast consisting of Isumi Chizuru, Oguri Shun, and Imai Tsubasa, "Summer Snow" comes out with a few of the most memorable characters ever in a JDorama. I found myself liking all of them so much. The plotline is incredibly heartwarming and moved at a comfortable pace. The theme music "Summer Snow" becomes even haunting at times. It was absolutely beautiful, especially how they filmed the ending. One of those series that I wouldn't mind watching over again (along with my box of tissues handy).

This dorama is too good for words. It is definitely one of my all time favourites. Doumoto Tsuyoshi is funny and a bit querky and hirosue ryoko is also brilliant, playing the role of a girl who has a heart disease but has loving feelings for Doumoto. Oguri shun is also in this dorama, playing the role of Doumoto`s little brother. It has more brilliant casts and it is a very warming family dorama,. I wont say too much because I dont wanna give away the fun of anyone wanting to watch this but it is most recommended and a good quality batch of this dorama can be downloaded from d-addict.com.!!

Straight up the ranks of my list of favourites to join Antique. One of the most charming points of this drama is that the main actors here are all youths!!! ANd you will definitely adore them. No one can possibly rate this drama anything less than 8/10. It transcends preferences and tastes!!! ( I am that sure!) Its super touching right from the start and Dohmoto really charmed the socks off me. Ryoko was absolutely sweet and I loved how this drama celebrates idiosyncracies and simplicity....superb!!!!.... oh..and Oguri Shun can really really melt ur heart.....(sigh)

Good drama, nice heart warming series. The series is a little slow in the beginning but it does pick up. Domoto does show his terrific acting skills with his agitated goofy character and Shun! really does a great job acting as a hearing impaired person struggling in life. Personally I have difficulties understanding Hirosue Ryoko, but towards the end she becomes loveable.
The series deals with a lot of issues that are all realistic. The ways they try to solve their issues is interesting but maybe tsuyoshi's character is too agitated sometimes.

Dohmoto Tsuyoshi has stolen my heart. It's true that this series will have you crying by the end. It's so bitter-sweet. However, I truly enjoyed it. It was also very funny and cute! I just wish I hadn't stumbled upon a spoiler here at J-Dorama regarding the outcome of the series, because when I made it to the final episode I knew almost immedietly exactly what was going to happen. As such, I cried through the entire episode! Even if it's cheesy sometimes, and even if it might make you feel a bit depressed... DEFINETLY check out Summer Snow!

This series is extremely funny and extremely touching at the same time. At some point I realized I was crying at the end of every single episode, and it's the 'awww shucks this is wonderful' kind of crying. Tsuyoshi was awesome at being the funny big brother who puts his siblings welfare above his own. Oguri Shun was also excellent as the younger brother with a hearing problem and an inferiority complex. I hardly see Hirosue as a sweet and frail character and she was actually quite endearing in this series. My favourite Tsuyoshi drama.
19. Comments by Oba-chan [Rating: 7/10]
I found this drama bit boring for me, maybe i'm little shock because i watch this drama after beach boys. I thought Ryoko will play at least "similar" character. Also the pace of this drama. Sometimes Slow sometimes Fast. Hiroto character also makes me really mad, i'm otoko, but his character was very awful even i couldn't watch him. I almost give this drama 6 points, but Natsuo-Oji-chan and Yuki-chan makes me changed my mind. Especially the "Shocking" Ending.
Theme song: Natsuno Osama [Kinki kids]: 6 (Not really good)

This dorama is just great, imo itLs the kind of dorama that everyone will like, it can please almost every j dorama fan.
Natsuo(Dohmoto Tsuyoshi) was really a funny character, he made me laugh a lot of times, Jun(Oguri Shun) and Yuki(Hirosue Ryoko) were two very good dramatic characters; they made me care about the two of them.
And the ending was awesome, great build up and shocking ending, e bet no one predicted something like that during the dorama.
Anyway itLs a must see to everyone.

COMPLETE. brilliant. when it comes to popular drama, or top-rated drama, and I'm one of a late viewer I usually have some sort of resistance towards that drama; (look at HYD, Long Vacation, beautiful life etc which has very LARGE fanbase and which I personally think as overrated), but this one seems to blow up that resistance. I'm completely in love with the drama, the r/ship between tsuyo's character and his siblings are very heartfelt... the minor as well as major scenes are wonderful!.

Summer Snow is by far the best Japanese drama I've ever watched. I was so overwhelmed by Ryoko's character. Her looks and her acting were amazing (in my opinion). The storyline is smoothly weaved and an unexpected ending surprised me. Tsuyoshi was great in this drama, his funny character with his silly actions are greatly looked upon. I must have cried for God knows how many times.. a very VERY touching story, one that all should watch. Overall, I give a full 10 rating for Summer Snow.

This is a wonderful drama, and in my opinion one of the best ever produced. It is wonderfully paced, and the actors are top-notch. Unlike some dramas that have one major plot, Summer Snow covers a variety of areas such as teen pregnancy, taking responsibility for your actions, true love, sacrifice, knowing when to do what's right, choosing to live your life depsite physical limitations and many others. I would suggest this to anyone who wants to watch true romance drama.

This was an interesting love story...lead by two strong leads, it seems to work for the most part, but falls short towards the end. Dohmoto and ryoko were excellent together, as were the cast including shun and the sister. I especially enjoyed the parts where dohmoto would just blabber on about this and that, and I though it added genuity to the storyline, that, let's be honest, is getting pretty tired...overall a good watch without being that exciting
26. Comments by yume [Rating: 8/10]
It has a lot of deep issues such as teen pregnancy, adult responsibility and death...but somehow, I feel that it didn't grab me in enough to care deeply for all the characters...until now. The first 5 episodes did very little to me, but now that I have continued to watch it, Summer Snow really is well done. Dohmoto made me laugh, but Hirosue's character is perpetually doing really stupid crap or whining. The ending might be expected for some people...
27. Comments by yourasthma [Rating: 8/10]
strong cast, esp the male lead and 'chika'. ryoko hirosue also played her role well. the ending would have been less predictable had it not been for all the spoiler comments you find here. the ending theme song is one of the worst though, not because it's a horrible song (i quite liked it) but because the way the song starts really destroys the mood of the show. apart from that, this show is quite sweet and touching. not that much of a tear jerker.

Morreria infeliz c nunca o tivesse assistido ^^. the best of allllll

Hawww. Started off as nothing special, 7 point Dorama, got worse in the middle and then finally better to the end. The topic is pretty standard with a ill girl and a cheerful boy. Would have given 7p if there wasn't the ending. Regarding the ending, it was the most surprising and one of the most beautiful i've ever seen. Just don't read spoilers and let it surprise you. The theme song is the second most unfitting i've ever heard.

Made me wonder how possibly we are able even to love the loving itself. A must-see indeed. Although people tended to not rate so high the same couple in Moto Kare, I'm still fond of them on this last too. Summer Snow is really something go be in love about. Damn, I cried! ^___^~ Hpe you enjoy it too... Hirosue is indeed a great actress. Tsuyoshi, well just like said before, I've started watched Moto Kare first ( still ) and then watched Summer Snow at once. He's such a good actor I could believe they were the same person! Needed to check. E verything works smoothly...

This began as a simple story: a young man raising both his younger brother and sister who falls in love with a woman who works at a bank. As the series progresses, certain familial/relationship/health problems are raised and questioned. What makes this series one of the best is the emotion and sincerity on the actors and actresses' parts. By the end of the series, I found myself so engrossed with the people and their situations. Certainly, this drama produced one of the most memorable and lovable characters ever. Natsuo and Yuki.

omg this drama is so amazing. it's my fave. japanese drama ever. the story is wonderful, and the actors are all so great. at the beginning I had my doubts about Tsubasa's acting skills buut now i'm convinced that he has the talent.

Oguri Shun was outstanding in this, he should've gotten an award. His portrayal of a deaf boy was so realistic that if I hadn't seen him in other shows, I wouldn't actually thought he had a hearing problem.

The ending is soooo totally unexpected and sad. get some tissues ready *sniff*

So real... I had alot of contemplations after wathing this story. It reminds me of how ungrateful I was. Sometimes I forget just how lucky I am to be alive, be able to love and to be loved while there are so many 'unfortunate' people out there struggling so hard just to be alive. For those who has to take the hard path, please don't give up the hope.
Overall, this is a must seen movie... excellent script, great performers, wonderfull soundtracks, and it surely will humanize you... a rarely seen quality nowadays.

ONE OF THE BEST DRAMAS i've ever seen...certain drama moments/parts i will never get sick of...
Tsuyoshi lead the way with his fine acting...Ryoko did an excellent job as the weak, kind-hearted, cutie...add well supporting cast, magical title "natsuo yuki", fairly paced storyline and you have a fantastic dorama...crazy mixture of sweetness and sad bitterness...you'll end up not knowin how to feel...sugee
9. Tu_triky
Very heartfelt dramatic show. Ryoko Hirosue's character "Yuki" is unbelievably sweet. A woman literally to die for. Her character and acting will cause you to emphatize deeply. Supporting cast is great here, too but Ryoko Hirosue is definitely the star of the show. In this show, Yuki is an amazingly beautiful person, both in and out. I loved it!
10. favug
Great story and WOW for the last episode!
My wife's "cry-o-meter" was so off the scale that after this I had to watch 3 funny jdramas (up to now :) ).
Worth watching.
The only "-" I have with it is the soundtrack: the pan-pipe (folk instrument in my country) which produces high emo music, but not the kind needed in this show.

I love this drama. It was the first japanese drama that i have seen. The story was great , i really truely cared about each and very characters in the story. For this reason alone which make this drama one of the best drama of all time. I cried and laugh. I love Hirosue Ryoko. I hope to see more of her acting in other drama.
12. bakafool
Damn wicked!!! This drama almost made me cry, so you know it's gotta be good. Great performances by all the characters. The acting was natural, especially for Ikewaki Chizuru who played Chika. Dohmoto Tsuyoshi was great and what more can I say about Ryoko Hirosue? Great twist at the end too. Go watch it!
13. IchibanB
Summer Snow is one of my all time favorite J-Dramas. I love all the characters, and the love story between Tsuyoshi and Ryoko is really well done. I didn't really like the way it ended, but it didn't take away from the experience. I really loved Ryoko's character in this. She's my ideal woman.
14. michiru3
Both Tsuyoshi and Ryoko was great here. Oguri Shun is great too, so glad he's got a bigger role than he did in GTO. And he's growing up so nicely! Sooo tall and cute too! Imai Tsubasa adds another bishonen to the beautiful cast, great comic moments too. The best bad boy, haha
15. Kitsuchi
Summer Snow is really good and touching. I couldn't stop the tears on a few scenes.. It is actually my first J-dorama I've ever watched. I'm glad that Summer Snow became the first one, because it's really good. I highly recommend this J-dorama to those who haven't seen it yet.

My first drama and the acting by all the actors was simply believeable--especially Tsuyoshi's!~ He was always jittery and trying to keep a brave face; I love that~! I now wish I had a caring older brother like him! I'm so happy I watched this, though I did cry an awful lot!
17. jae-e
first drama and only drama so far I've seen with Hirosue Ryoko but I've become an instant fan ^_^ she is so cute and innocent and not to mention caring. Hirosue Ryoko and Dohmoto Tsuyoshi work well together. Great storyline, very sad, Prepare lots of tissues

Summer Snow was a very cute and touching story.. ^-^ Dohmoto Tsuyoshi did another great job! Ikewaki Chizuru, Kadono Takuzo, Oguri Shun, Hirosue Ryoko, Imai Tsubasa.. Really a great cast - and the soundtrack was also cool! You shouldn't miss it! xD

one of the most dramatic dorama i've seen. i'm not totally into dramas where you get a heavy heart after watching but this one was okay. i just wanted to sleep right after i finished this just to get the load off my chest. lol.
24. Saito.Sama
One of the best dramas I've ever seen. The compelling story of each of the characters kept me yearning for more. The love of Natsuo for others and his will to overcome really made the drama. Tsuyoshi does a great job acting.
25. thomas.k
Summer Snow it's a Hyper dramatic drama, it's almost impossible to not cry in this one, beautiful story, touching.
Special mention to Hirosue who acts a sweet and shy girl with perfection, that I never saw before!

one of the most cheeesiest jdramas i've ever seen. it actually made me tear on the last episode - i never cry to movies. thumbs up though! good acting!! and i loved the characters! .. just too cheesy for my taste.

I just love Natsuo's character! At the end, more than Yuki, it was Natsuo that tugged at my heart. Very touching and funny(thanx to Natsuo); and the ending was somewhat predictable for me but still beautiful.
28. zero_13
Amazing drama.. both funny and romantic in its aspects. Strong character development (mainly natsuo). Interesting events that can be related to real life situation. Thumbs up for both Hirosue and Tsuyoshi

Truly a great drama. Not only does the main story between Natsuo and Yuki draw you in, but all the sub-plots also succeed in doing so. This is a well-rounded drama: 11 episodes of laughs and tears.
