"Koi wa Tatakai (Love is a battle/Love & Fight)" is a sort of Japanese version of popular American TV show ; "Sex and the City". One of the star in this Japanese version is Manami Hounjou (27). The story itself is a light-hearted romantic comedy and will revolve around unsuccessful love affairs and the straightforward way Honjou and the other women discuss their feelings. In the Japanese version, Honjou plays the part of a divorced freelance writer named Hanako Takamori. In the first episode, she gets picked up by a guy at a party and they go to a hotel. After taking a shower before her, the guy hands her a S&M kit and tries to persuade her to go to work on him. | | japantoday |

I loved everything about this show.. the characters, the story, the music... luved it, luved it, luved it. I even bought the soundtrack, which I play it often...it really gets me going. I was surprised to learn that in Japan it was played up to be "sort of Japanese version" of Sex and the City..because it's 120% better than that stupid American show. I really enjoyed watching this drama after seeing a pair of drawn-out, over-cooked dramas. If you are tired of the "drama" aspect being done over too long of a time, then this drama is the one for you. Terribly UNDERRATED!!! This was a great drama with good acting, great chemistry all around. Great supporting characters. I loved that every episode had a focus on each character's romance and moved those stories along all the way up until the end. Great drama! As many have said, it's very much like Sex and the City without the R-rating.
I found it to be a very fun drama that reminded me a little of an up-to-date version of Hitonatsu no Proposal. The characters were likeable (with the exception of Hosho Mai, who I have never liked), but at times, I found the indecisiveness and people not being open with each other really annoying, even though that's how it sometimes is in real life. I didn´t think it was like SATC at all. No fashion, no (clearly shown) shagging and no cocktails. Although Love and Fight had a lot of booze too! It did extremly bad at ratings but it was a lot better and funnier than I expected. Portrayed women in a somewhat goofy and realistic way. |
