Synopsis

In 1988 Hokkaido's Hokusei Yoichi High School became the first high school in Japan to accept students who had previously dropped out of high school from nationwide. Hokkaido Broadcasting (HBC) has been covering this school for 15 years and aired a documentary last spring that caused a stir all over the country. Now TBS in cooperation with HBC will create a drama based on the school.

The drama will follow a former gang member, dropout and graduate of the school who returns as a teacher. We will follow him as he helps graduating students out into the world. The teachers and students will, as you would expect, confront all the issues of youth and society today. At this school, there are no compromises, no lies. This drama will move you as both students and teachers face a variety of issues head on.

This is a moving story that is created by people coming together and learning to believe in each other.

1.	A bit of a cheesy dorama [Rating: 7/10] Its worth watching if you like Takenouchi Yutaka like myself and let me tell you that there were some other eye candies out there too like Ichihara Hayato. Woo was he cute although hes that namaiki rebellious child. Man if I had a teacher like Takenouchi Yutaka....Those kids were so annoying why can't they just accept their kakkoii teacher as is and be like normal students?! Esp. that one girl. Was that Sayaka I don't know which one was who but that Britney Spears listining and volume cranking up girl? Boy did I hate her

3.	omaeyaro..! [Rating: 8/10] this is a really good plot.. and a real one too..! although full of new actors such as SAYAKA, ichihara hayato etc.. somehow they managed to come up with a great drama.. people like kato natsuki gave life to the story.. while cast like takenouchi yutaka and aiba masaki were really good at portraying new teachers who have much to learn.. yashiki sensei kawaii ne~ slowly he became to be a character i liked a lot.. as each episode progressed, you get to see the students change slowly.. even the teachers are learning new things everyday.. the theme song fit the drama very well.. congrats to all of the cast for creating such a realistic drama.. lots of new ideas that i've never thought of appeared.. hontou ni benkyo shimashita, atashi wa.. ato, toru kawaii..!! ^^

4.	Entertaining...but not realistic [Rating: 7/10] This drama confuses me a bit because it goes into great detail in the introduction about the problems of students these days, but once I was through with the drama, I couldn't really find the connection between what the drama was attempting to convey and what the drama actually delivered. I sat through the drama thinking it was going to be serious and they were going to address some serious issues. But all I got was a little bit of that; each problem that the students go through were totally watered down and easily resolved in an episdoe (with the exception of the last episode). I think they tried to tackle this subject but it wasn't successful if you took it from a serious perspective. But if you watch it without expecting anything real from it, then it's quite entertaining to see these kids go through these problems. It's a drama with a bunch of idol actors/actresses but with a serious plot that really doesn't get developed enough for it to become convincing

5.	Tsumannai kedo... [Rating: 3/10] Gomen I saw the first ep..I tried to get into it...I even tried convincing myself to watch more because of Aiba Masaki but I just couldn't. I guess you really have to be into that "Dangerous Minds in Japan" type of thing, but I like romance/comedy more so it was definitely not up my alley.

9.	Densetsu no Kyoushi [Rating: 8/10] This drama is based on a true story.So, all the cases that we can see in this drama was really happened and in japan the teacher is really popular.Everyday there are many youngster call him through his radio program and discuss their problem, mostly about bully.Yutaka Takenouchi is really great in portraying the role and he actually won the best actor award for his role in this drama.Watch this series+special if you want to know the real story about him.

You will definitely find yourself wanting to beat these obnoxious kids up though, they were SAIAKU. Seriously! It almost made me not want to watch them, haha!

Comments by masnita [Rating: 10/10] Ahhh...what can I say...as usually yutaka is so kakkoi...now I know why they chose him as the emperor....overall for this drama, it's a thumb up....very nice and there are some touching scenes too...although it cannot beat GTO but I think we have to separate the 2 dramas. GTO is more mangga type while this one is more realistic....really like it.

Comments by Jessicasoon [Rating: 6/10] i watched this for aiba. but he didn't have much a role inside. acting as a nerdy teacher. even his mukodono role is much better. hope he'll get a good role soon. anyway, realised teppei and mochiyama was in this show when i watched it. and one gokusen guy. some girls are familiar and pretty and hayato's handsome. just don't like the female leader though too proud. might not have continued the show if not for hayato and the couple. i think the girl might be the same person as the one in gokusen2. not really sure. she's pretty.

Comments by moonchyld [Rating: 8/10] hmm i wonder why but i liked this teacher-student relationship drama far far more than let's say, gokusen or gachibaka. i guess it was because this drama felt a bit more real to me; the main character (teacher) was not a rare kind of breed that stood out from the rest; he was persistent, caring and supportive because that was how he was taught by his former teachers. and unlike other dramas of the same genre, he was not surrounded by a bunch of good for nothing fellow teachers. i appreciated its realism, how they didn't blame everything on the elders/parents/teachers. most importantly, i appreciated how they showed that only the person in question (students) could effect change, not their surroundings to change for them (eg. their parents suddenly changing after being scolded.) let's just say it was less mushy. :P

But by the end, I was pretty bored. I realized there are tons of up and coming actors/actresses among the cast of students. Fans of them should consider watching this series to see how they were. e.g. Mocomichi is way more kakkoii now, and Teppei became cuter too. Ichihara Hayato looks the same though.

I was shocked when i watched the special and discovered that this was based in a true story(at the end of the special we get a footage from the real teacher while retiring from education). Yoshimori(Takenouchi Yutaka) was awesome, i loved the ways he used to take the place of Iwasaki sensei(Harada Yoshio) as the homeroom teacher. I hated Kanae´s character, i was really pissed off when everyone forgave her after all she did to Nanae, and after that she allways acted as the class leader and that really pissed me off. It was funny to watch japanese young actors in their young days, actors like: Hayami Mokomichi, Ichihara Hayato, Ichikawa Yui, Ishigaki Yuma and Koike Teppei. The special was really awesome, better than the dorama itself imo, it stars Sakurai Shou and Matsuda Shota, a really yankee story.
