Synopsis
The wife is a witch! But she likes humans and she loves her husband.

Arisa (Ryoko Yonekura) is fascinated by humans. So much so that she leaves the magic world. But the broom she uses is faulty and she winds up in Japan. There she meets Joji Matsui (Taizo Harada) who works at an advertising agency. Joji has been assigned by his boss Ichio Suzuki (Naoto Takenaka) the difficult task of winning over Shiori Nomo (Asami Ishikawa) who is in charge of corporate communications at a client. However a little word from Arisa helps Joji win over Shiori and his agency gets the opportunity to pitch. Arisa and Joji fall in love and marry. Arisa swears never to use magic again as she and Joji begin their strange witch/human married life. However, Arisa's mother, Daria (Mari Natsuki) wants to take Arisa back to her world and uses magic to be a nuisance to the new couple.

1. A perfect+ remake, better than the original, :) [Rating: 10/10]
Wow, what a wonderful dorama, a kampeki remake of the Bewitched show, even down to the smallest details. Even more, in my opinion it was more heartwarming, and updates the show very successfully. Ryoko-san as the Majo is perfect, so it the husband, the colleagues, neighbors (the neighborhood wife is a dead-on imitation of the original character from Bewitched, soooo funny. Actually a lot funnier than the original), and clients, not to mention the kawaii Tsubasa chan.

Overall, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, and very very very heart-warming. From the ending, I can bet that there will be a sequal (at least one) coming up, :). Hope it can be just as good.

2. Excellent comedy with a magic touch!!~ [Rating: 10/10]
Brilliant!~ Absolutely hilarious drama that is cute, romantic, heart wrenching all in one... Yonekura Ryoko really shines as Arisa, the witch who finds a special place in her heart for humans and wants to live with them. Naturally, she falls in love and marries one, Joji and the drama focuses very much on their family lives from dealing with the mother-in-law from hell to preventing Arisa's true identity from being revealed. Especially loved the character of the neighbourhood wife who screamed "Annnata!!! Taiii hen da youuuu!!!" whenever she saw something wierd in Arisa's house. Cracked me up everytime!! This drama has a very nice theme song to boot!!!~

This drama really makes you think how vulnerable human emotions really are, especially when they come up against a stronger being...

3. Unlike the Orginal, but Just as Fantastic!!! [Rating: 9/10]
It went by fast, even though it was a dorama, but it was a great remake of US's orginal Bewitched...Yamauchi Nana was SO adorable as ever playing Tsubasa (Tabetha)...and I enjoyed the assistant played by Shioya Shun.....A Hurricane Ranger turned to an office assistant with a will to aid his boss who he cares for so much...lol...
I love the story, but the ending just didn't seem complete, although having Joji(George) be stuck with the mother was the BEST PART!!!!

5. Magic + Ryoko = FUN! [Rating: 8/10]
I’m going to ignore for the moment that this drama is based on the American TV show “Bewitched”. Comparing it to the original series wouldn’t be fair and I’d have to change the tone of this review.

On it’s own, I found this drama highly entertaining. I have yet to see the last episode, but I believe my views would go unchanged. I thought the way the magic element was handled was awesome. Sometimes it was a bit hokey, but that only added to the overall charm of the show. No pun intended. lol

Yonekura Ryoko was fabulous. Although she was annoying at times, she made up for it in the moments that mattered most. She’s a strong actress, gorgeous, and has great style. She also pulled off the role of the witch beautifully. Harada Taizo was the perfect George! He’s so average! And so wonderful. I was instantly attracted to him and I could totally see what Arisa saw in him. Harada was really fun to wish and I thought his pairing with Ryoko-san was gold. My favourite character, of course, was Arisa’s mother, played by Natsuki Mari. Mari-san seemed to have a lot of fun playing the role, and it was a lot of fun to watch her when she was on screen.

The storyline was a bit awkward, since a lot of the plot elements were rushed. There was a common thread through each episode, but the story itself was rather empty and didn’t hole a lot of substance. Personally I didn’t find that this mattered. The purpose of the show was to have fun and enjoy the ride, and I did! Not every drama has to masterfully written in order to be enjoyed!

It's cute, it's colorful and slapstick funny. It's Bewitched...in Tokyo...only less acceptable at times. The original "Bewitched," for me, was enjoyable because it was corny and made in a time when corny wasn't corny. But for it to be done again in 2004 is well...pushing it. Occasionally I think it's cute, at other times, I couldn't care less what happens to Arisa or Jyoji. The one thing that keeps me watching is the fantastic interior of their apartment and Arisa's cute outfits. I hate Arisa's mother more than the original version too. She's just TOO convincing of being annoying.

A Japanese version of the classic, however i find Ryoko san's japanese samantha to be extremely annoying. in the original series, samantha is fun to watch, but in this re-vamped version, Ryoko san was trying to act 'cute' all the time. i don't know if it's a fault of the actress or just the japanese script, but it got on to my nerves after a few episodes.

Very cute adaptation of the classic American TV series "Bewitched". Is a lot more funnier if you are familiar with the original (my husband, who doesn't know any Japanese, but is a great fan of the original show, LOVED this show, even if he only understood the little bit I was translating for him). Yonekura Ryoko was hilarious, Harada Taizo seemed a strange choice but he worked (then again, think of the Darrens--maybe he was a good choice after all.) The best casting was that gal who played Arisa's mom...BRILLIANT!! Well worth watching.

This one was good. I loved how it started out. It was fun and entertaining to watch. The humor seems to have lessened towards the end of the drama and got a little more towards the drama side, but still very good.
