1. Another bad sport drama [Rating: 6/10]
Attack no. 1 is almost exactly like Ace wo Nerae. The storyline is exactly the same, there are similar plot points, and both dramas share some of the actresses. Itfs like watching Ace wo Nerae all over again except with a different sport. Because of this, I found it really hard to enjoy this drama. It was painful to watch because it was so predictable and completely forgettable.

Ifm beginning to re-evaluate my opinion of Ueto Aya. I mean, I like her and I think shefs adorable, but shefs been coming in a lot of bad dramas lately and I feel she needs to take some sort of responsibility, instead of her fans squealing about how itfs the drama, not her, thatfs making the bad impression. After all, a really good actor/actress can make a really bad drama at least bearable to some degree. She failed to do so here. I found her character really annoying and frustrating to watch. I mean, Ueto has got to be the least athletic-looking actress out there, and yet this is her SECOND sport-related drama that Ifve seen. She was a little more believable as a tennis player, but a volleyball player is totally out of her league. Donft get me wrong. Shefs done great work in Attention Please and has already proven herself as a good actress. She just really needs to pick her roles carefully.

The coach of the Fujimi team also really annoyed me. His character goes through a roller-coaster without any depth or reasoning. He was too random and really ruined the gcoachh persona. Sakai Ayana was good, as was most of the supporting cast (in terms of Volleyball players), but I still found the drama hard to enjoy. It wasnft so much that it was utterly, devastatingly horrible. It was more that there was nothing exciting about it and turned out to be a manufactured plot with no soul. Unless youfre an Aya-fan and just enjoying watching her move about the screen, I donft recommend this drama at all.

2. A not too successful follow up to Ace [Rating: 6/10]
I liked Ace, and when Attack came out, I was excited. I was on both the volleyball and tennis team back in my school days, and I liked the CG on Ace, and how they made everything look so pretty and manga-like.
But then this Attack was something different. I don't mind all the other characters involved, but they did NOT look like high school students. No offense, but they could do so much more with their looks than by simply making their hair look all young with piggy tails and stuff.
Also, the plot is so daytime soap opera; first one person makes the team, then her nemisis makes it, then their friends, then somene dies, then some other person has this vendetta, and so on. I got tired of it by the middle and had to force myself to watch the rest.
One more thing, Ueto Aya looked like she can play tennis, but she doesn't look like she can play volleyball. The height thing was just too obvious, not to mention her team mates, especially that one overweight team mate; she looked like she belongs more on the sumo team.

3. Good Story for Ueto, bad ending... [Rating: 8/10]
This role fit for Ueto Aya, it is like her other sport drama, Ace wo Onerae, but this one fit her a bit better mostly because the story was better played out then Ace was.
It was unpredictable on many occasions, starting from being selected as team captain, to over coming her health difficulties.
The only problem I hd with this drama was the ending. It had not conclusion, it just stops when they play against Brazil, and that's it. The game was supposed to determine the teams future, if they would be able to continue volleyball, or be stripped of their volley history...
Other than this it was a good story, the one thing that teased me though, was the fact that Kozue's lover is 17, but the actor is 28! how can he look like that and be 28!!! This is like Ace, becuse Ueto Aya's character in that one had a lover of 17, but an actor of 25!
Crazy @_@...

4. similar to a 1975 'MOERO! ATTACK' JDorama?? [Rating: 7/10]
When I first read this drama sypnosis, it took me back to my childhood memory of my first ever JDorama that I've ever watched. It was a dorama about a volleyball chick like Aya, who did a cool mid air spiral turn to do a spike shot. That cool shot are still fresh in my mind. It took me a lot of options in the net just to find out what was it called... And I finally found it!! It was 1975 drama called "MOERO! ATTACK"! I remember watching it in voice translation in my country when i was about 7 years old in the year 1992. Talking about a waaaayyy back JDorama! fuuhh! XD.. Does anybody here ever remember watching that old JDorama like me too?? I wonder why JDorama.com doesn't add this really old cool-mid-air-spiral-spike-shot JDorama here?

ok. i had really high expectations for this show at first.... but then after i watched it, i was a little disappointed. because it as not as exciting as i had expected..... nonetheless, it was still a good show. i am pretty in to volleyball so whenever the matches are on, i am practically at the edge of my seat cos its so cool. yep. i have to admit i was almost in tears when kozue was thrown out of the national team. but it was good for her because after tat she became super good! oh well... this show is still not bad but i think it is lacking in the jokes department....

very cliche. only watched it because of Aya. the main leads get 'tortured' and then in the last episodes everything changes... so cliche...
stopped watching after episode 9 coz the ending was sooo obvious, though i have to say episode 9 was really worth watching.
has the same ending as Ace wo Nerae (Sooo obvious), the only difference is the diameter of the ball and instead of indiviuals it's a volley team... great ending song, Yume no Chikara by Aya Ueto

It was a good drama but the charachters did not develope very deeply. So much time was kind of wasted in this drama filming Volleyball whcih obviously is important but more important would be a connection to the players and why they act the way they act. I want to love this drama because Aya Ueto and the rest of the cast are all very cool but there just is not that much there...

Still it is enjoyable enough to watch and a fun but predictable story.

8. Aya a volleyball player [Rating: 10/10]
Aya a volleyball player this time around. This one definately better then her Ace wo Nerare drama. Her character alone makes it better. Yea her character in Ace had that fighting spirit, but she lacked confidence more then half the time. This time round she got confidence, fighting spirit, and the drama showed lots of volleyball playing. If you saw Ace first, you'll notice quite a bit of similarity between the two drama.

9. It's okay, but it grabs you [Rating: ?/10]
You really can't go wrong with a drama about an all-girl high school volleyball team. And Aya Ueto turns on the cuteness to make many scenes much more fun than they'd ordinarily be. Add some sports action and some gorgeous vistas of Mt Fuji, and this turns out to be surprisingly watchable (even if a little emotionally frantic). With judicious use of the fast-forward, this is briskly enjoyable.

I started to like Aya when watching this drama and figured out a lot of her others drama. Her never give up spirit makes me cheerful n I'm hoping there will have Attack no.1 Special drama..I really want to watch till the good ending. Aya makes me realize that her hitz song yume no chikara (ending of the episode) is a never ever bored song! Volleyball also can makes people to cheer...

Well I was excited to see this because of Aya Ueto and she was awesome in this drama but apart from her my interest could not last the whole series. I felt it got a little repetitive and dragged out too long without a lot happening and parts I thought should have been developed more did not develop. It could have been much better.

Decent drama with a compelling volleyball story. Began watching with low expectations, but eventually became very enjoyable and worthwhile. There were a lot of emotional scenes with the characters crying which was really hard to sit through. The story was decently presented as there were predictable moments and some unpredictable moments. Aya Ueto played her role pretty well while portraying emotions. Although many people believe her role as a volleyball player was not accurate, she still put up a good performance. The volleyball scenes were more convincing than the tennis scenes from Ace wo Nerae! which is a big plus for me. The ending, however, was not as fulfilling as I would wanted it to be. There are for sure some faults in this drama, but I would recommend this to Aya fans.

This is the 2nd sport Jdorama I've watched & I must say it's better than Ace wo Nerae. Because of the same actresses in both shows, (Ueto Aya & Sakai Ayana) I couldn't stop comparing the 2 dramas & the plot. Thank godness there weren't too much similarities except for the usual fight-on-even-though-you-are-going-through-hell-in-the-training spirit that's hovering around all characters. But of course, there're bound to be cliches in such dramas & no matter what, you know for sure the team's gonna win & everything will go alright. No surprises so to say.

Apparently this one is a rip-off of ace wo narae, but i actually haven't seen that one so I can't draw comparisons. This drama's ok, although aya ueto's acting is pretty lame at times and then there's that over-used "never give up" cliche that I really got sick of by the end of it. And also the actual volleyball "action" was pretty bad - like aya is 5ft, so how the hell can she possibly get the ball over the net, let alone smash it over. Anyway, I did like how the story progressed, thus allowing a little unpredictability in how the end result would turn out.

I enjoyed this dorama a lot more than I expected. I'd put off buying it for the longest time because I thought, I couldn't really enjoy a sports drama but as soon as I put it on I was hooked. It was a really great series, I really enjoyed Aya's character and how she developed.
There was one twist near the end I didn't see coming and it really quite upset me. It'san emotional series it made me happy, angry and it made me really cry all at the same time. Definitely worth a watch in my opinion ^_^
6. Comments by rikastar [Rating: 5/10]
The whole setting of the story is weird, and although it's supposed to be about volleyball, it doesn't feel like it at all. All I see is the players falling to the ground trying to hit the ball during trainings, there seems to be nothing else. How Kozue improves, whether she is really good or not, whether she really had potential, it is not really shown. The only good thing I can see is that Ayachan really has the spark and charisma to brighten up the show.

This is one of my first doramas, so it's kinda special for me. Maybe it's not the best dorama ever but the story was well written and I watched one episode after another. It also shows how one person fights for her dream and slowly matures, so you can clearly see how the main character changed from ep.1 untill the end. I recommend it if you like Ueto Aya and sports.

I am one of those people that watched this drama because of their inner love for volleyball and therefore had great expectations from it. It was a let down as the characters were pretty tiring sometimes and the story was lacking quite a lot. It was, however still enjoyable so it would be a pity for volleyball lovers such as myself not to watch this.

Ueto Aya's great looks are turned down a lot for this series. The Dorama is a bit boring (okay, its REALLY boring) at the beginning, but gets better with every episode. For me as a fan of the Anime and Manga a must watch, so i can't judge neutrally. Solid rendition of the original Anime, "pepped up" a bit for the year 2005.

Not really that amazing. Could have been done better. They could have added more excitement to the actual volleyball games but I guess its usually done this way since its a drama and not a manga. But since its based on a manga they should have done something about the action.
