Synopsis
Tokyo, 2006. Minami Fuji is riding a train along Tokyo Bay. Weary from a day's work, she falls asleep while on the train. Her nap time is obstructed by the sound of somebody's cell phone ringing. She opens her eyes to see the phone lying unattended on a nearby seat. Reluctantly, she answers the phone. It's a man claiming to have dropped his phone. He wants Minami to deliver it to him before his job interview begins. However, since Minami too has a meeting she must attend, she takes the phone to the lost and found department of a nearby station.

On her way to work, Minami spots an old commercial being shown on a big-screen TV. She immediately takes a picture of it with her camera. That is when she realizes that someone else is also absorbed in the commercial. It's Yuya Ishida, the young man who called to have his cell phone delivered.

Kyotaro Imaoka, creative director of an advertisement agency, is having a meeting at an insurance company with Kunio Sakuragi and Satoshi Hagiwara. Minami soon joins the meeting. They have come to give a presentation for the new TV commercial for their company.

Meanwhile, Yuya has arrived at the place where he will have his interview. He is immediately given a tour of the office as well as a lecture on commercial planning. He has no idea that Minami has returned to the office and is having a meeting with Kyotaro and the others.

Later on, Yuya delivers mail to Minami. At first, she doesn't even look up at him. But when she does, it only takes 15 seconds;the same length as a television commercial;for Minami to realize that she had ran into Yuya while watching the commercial on the big-screen TV, and it was also his cell phone that she picked up on the train.

1. Romance and Work [Rating: 5/10]
Suppli mostly takes place at an advertising agency. While part of it is about the actual work, you also get insight into some of its workers' lives.

The main character, Fuji-san (Ito Misaki) is a woman of 28. It's a difficult time for women and a lot of the drama centers around that fact. She is faced with the decision of what is more important in life; work or romance. Being unmarried and recently single, she puts all her effort into work. She lives alone, and mostly works alone, at her own pace. That is convenient as she doesn't have to deal with others, but also lonely.

Yu-kun is the other main character, who is played by KAT-TUN member Kazuya Kamenashi. He is young and inexperienced, drifting from one job to the other, not really knowing what he wants to do. To him, a beautiful day is wasted in the office. He still has to take the part-time job at Fuji-san's firm and slowly, guided by Fuji-san he realises that advertising is actually something that interests him. Of course, that interest quickly turns towards the teacher as well.
I'm generally not very impressed by Kazuya Kamenashi's acting abilities. I have seen him in several dramas, but somehow he just never seems to become as one with the character as I'd like him to be.

The questions that this drama raises are love or work? Can an older woman see her future in a younger man? Can you give up your way of life for another? Regarding other characters, you also find wondering about other things. Can a selfish man learn to become a good father? How long can a woman wait for a man, or a man for a woman? When should you let go and have the person you love do what they should?

Besides the romances that these people experience you also get a glimpse into the workings of an advertising agency and you will never look at an ad the same way as you did before.

While the story of the drama is very good, there is just one flaw. When the two main characters kiss, it just lacks that special something that all the great kisses in the world have had. The fire; the connection. The other romantic scenes work, but kissing just doesn't. It's a bit disappointing, and you begin to doubt the validity of the romance.

2. Boring... [Rating: 5/10]
Though It had a JE-boy in it and had my favorite type of genre, I had to put my foot down. It didnt bring the feel of Older woman- younger man love. Kame-chan was the annoying clingy any girl would fall for. And Itoh was the girl who actually fell for it. It had them most boring plot I had ever came across.

No offense to those who gave this drama a perfect 10, or a nine, 8 and a passing 7. But it just didnt give me the nice feeling I have when I'm watching a JE drama. :)) But It was uh... Kinda interesting.

I hate that girl... Um... What was her name? Dont care, really. The girl with the short hair that likes Kame-chan. She was a pain in the eyes. I hate her, ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
Well. Alls well that ends well.

I give this a negative 5. Yes, negative.

3. Another drama that leaves no huge impression on yo [Rating: 5/10]
Sorry to give this rating to Kame's drama, but it does not assess his acting skills or his role. Although the plot and cast are very good ones, just chemistry between Yuya and Fujii does not touch your heart and take you away along with the expansion of drama. Itoh's acting looks very fake (strongly saying) and sometimes you get an impression that she doesn't act but says her words with some acting. Don't think that I'am jealous of her because of being together with Kame in drama, but in Anego romance between Kurosawa (played by Akanishi Jin) and Noda-san (played by Shinohara Ryoko) is irresistible and sways away your heart. Also Kame's role is seen so childish whereas Itoh's role is very adult-like - this gives more stress on age difference of cast.
Hope in future there will a good drama with two of them!!!

4. Not bad, but no real substance [Rating: 7/10]
I wasn't too impressed with this drama. There wasn't any depth and I wasn't at all convinced that Fuji was in love with Ishida. Although the drama wasn't painful to watch, and I will admit that it wasn't bad in some instances (like the side story with Miho's character), there was nothing gripping about it. I wasn't hooked and completely indifferent to the end.

Kame did alright. I WAS convinced that he loved Misaki's character. Misaki played her role well, but there wasn't a lot of chemistry between the two. They looked awkward together. And because the story was about their love, it just didn't work.

The drama IS successful in the sense that you get a peak into the advertising world, and for the most part it was relatively accurate. However, this wasn't enough to push this drama forward.

5. surprisingly good [Rating: 9/10]
I've watched quite a few dramas (mostly japanese, but a few chinese), so I've seen amongst the "best", so I had pretty low expectations for this drama. I thought that they would rely too much on their all-star cast. Plus it's not an original idea to pair an older, career-driven woman with a younger and more naive male (for example, "kimi wa petto" and "anego").

I was surprised that I liked it this much. It surprised me since at first I thought that Kamenashi and Itoh Misaki were an odd pair, but I liked the setting (in an advertising company), which really made it interesting to see how ads are really made and the ideas the characters come up with. Plus I'm glad that it was much much better than the previous year's "Anego", which lacked a lot of things (read my review on that).

6. Watchable, but not much else... [Rating: 7/10]
I'll give this drama a 7/10 since it does get a passing grade from me, but not much else. I suspect that the developers of the show thought that the great casting would cover up for a so-so story and warmed over plot-line (older career woman vs. young guy).

If you like the cast, then you'll like the show, but don't look for any tricks in this one. There are no plot twists, no real cliffhangers -- it's a very straightforward drama, but nothing more.

I liked this dorama very much.. The plot, the cast, themesong.. like everything. I'm actually really surprised that so many people here rate this dorama between 6-9? I give it definitely a 10.

I've seen some doramas with Itoh Misaki, and I haven't liked her acting.. I thought that she seemed unnatural. It wasn't quit realistic. So I was doubtful about how she would appear in Sapuri. And I was surprised. She has definitely improved her acting. She's becoming better and I think she has done a great job in Sapuri. So maybe I should change my mind about her..

Kamenashi Kazuya did also a very great job. I liked how he always looked like a sweet cute boy in the beginning. He was always so energetic and when Kamenashi and Itoh became closer, he was all happy-go-lucky, smiling, jumpig around like a kid.. It was really sweet. I think he acted good. And as episodes flew by, he began to actually grow up to a man who works. Well, I liked him as that playful everyday boy more than the man with the suits.. But he acted good. That's what I've expected from him, though.

Also, Sato Koichi and his sweet talented daughter. I liked how he always said "Enjoy! Have fun!". It was funny.
Shiraishi Miho is like always funny too. I really like her acting.

At first, I didn't liked the themesong.. It didn't sounded suitable. But as I watched more of Sapuri, the song finally digged itself into my brain and made me like it anyway. I became used to it and now I think it fits the series.

Anyway, I'm glad that the love between Kamenashi Kazuya and Itoh Misaki finally was accepted and that they could be with each other in the end. Though I was a bit irritated at first when Itoh Misaki never could make up her mind of who to choose, Eita or Kazuya. I'm glad she finally told Kazuya... in the last episode. I felt sorry for him. He was so very happy after they became close and she couldn't decide. She could at least told him to wait a little for her to think her feelings through or something...

However, I highly recommend this dorama because I enjoyed watching it through every episode. So then, watch it you too. Enjoy! Tanoshiinde!

It took me forever to watch this drama till the end. Weak points? No chemistry between the main characters, plain plot, nothing really happens and its very slow... Why did they need to make 11 episodes? 9 would be totally enough. Ok, there are few sweet moments and yes, Kame is so sexy but his charm and his playful personality does not come through here. I wished the main characters would flirt more in the first 7 episodes but itfs rarely happened. Towards the end it gets more interesting. The relationship between those two finally started to progress. I liked how they showed the typical problems of a career woman in Japan. Itofs character is a successful career woman and she canft decide between the younger guy, who she actually love her and the successful rich guy, who has the same status and age like her. The society expects her to marry a rich, successful personality like herself. So she is in this kind of dilemma and has to decide between love and societyfs expectations. I liked this subject in this drama that's the reason why I gave 5 points. I just wished there would be more energy and fire. I think it's the fault of the main actress. Itofs acting is really lacking energy. She looks great and everything but I wished she wouldn't act so out of place the whole time.
There are some good quotes in the dialogues like "A child pushes their love on the girl they love. An adult makes her realize her love for you." NICE ONE!
Well, I think it's an average drama. And Kame's fans like me will probably watch it anyway. :P
3. Comments by donna8157 [Rating: 6/10]
A drama about office love. It starts out with a woman who is taking the train to work. All of a sudden the phone next to her starts ringing. Apparently someone had lost it. She picks it up and a male voice is found on the other end. Itoh Misaki plays a powerful and high position businesswoman who works for a creative ad campaign. The other male lead actor is Kamenashi Kazuya who plays the part-timer who feels very little about his work and would rather be outside enjoying the sunshine. These two opposites somehow meet by fate and are working within the same office.

I thought that this drama was poorly done. It's a pity. It had such a huge cast of great actors and actresses (side characters) that did wonderfully, but the main actors just could not pull it off very well. Itoh Misaki's acting was not very convincing. She looks great in a business suit, but does she have that confidence and power that businesswomen of that position have? No. Another problem that I had with this drama was that she was insecure about relationships and her looks. I just could not take that part seriously.

The pairing for this drama was also terrible. Maybe it was the age difference or whatnot (though I doubt it), but Itoh Misaki and Kamenashi Kazuya do not go well together at all. Their relationship in the drama was more of that like siblings rather than lovers. The kiss scene that they had in the latter episode was awkward to say the least. Overall, I would not recommend this drama for people who are looking for plot or romance.

Ahh...Sapuri started off with alot of promise but sputtered out of steam towards the end. I was solely disappointed with this drama as a whole. A bunch of good-looking people with relationship issues, working for a trendy creative agency...a plot that goes on for 11 episodes but with nothing at the end to show for it? The Kame-Misaki Itoh coupling was very unconvincing. As many had pointed out, she looks like a sister than a lover and I have to agree. For the first ten episodes she never managed to convince me enough that she was really in love with Kame's character Ishida Yuya. She often came across like he was an irritant to her, therefore the declaration of love at the end was like, "whatever, let's tie up all loose ends now"
Perhaps this was the result of Misaki Itoh's lacklustre acting skills, which sadly is really below average. She is pretty though. Kame, on the other hand, is too "genki" (overacting?) sometimes but the boy sure can emote well...he has come a long way from Gokusen days.
5. Comments by Sorata [Rating: 9/10]
This dorama is nothing new but was very well played, Kamenashi Kazuya was cool and this was the best performance i witnessed from Misaki Itoh(watched her in Tiger&Dragon, Densha Otoko, Gokusen and Yama Onna Kabe Onna), most people said that Misaki and Kame didnLt have chemestry(which was true) but for some reason i really enjoyed their relationship.
And the "enjoy" guy was really funny. I really canLt stand Dunbo... i mean Eita, i donLt have anything against the actor, but he allways plays the most boring and idiotic characters in all the doramas i watched him.
Anyway if you like love storys about young guy/old woman - Rich/poor forbidden love you will enjoy this.
6. Comments by norz [Rating: 10/10]
I don't understand why people are giving a low rate on this drama coz it's the BEST! Maybe the theme of young man x older woman is over used but this drama brings a new perspective on the relationship, not based on eachothers physical passon or taboos. Also it looks into other relationships, like office commards, office romance, father-daughter, etc. There maybe relationships you would be rooting for but even the supporting characters you will root for (not everyone is an antagonist! :~) )
And I have to say Kame (beside looking femine) delievers an excellent porformance! I loved the drama from beginning to end , and i hope you all will too ^_^
7. Comments by dekatrain [Rating: 6/10]
This drama's sort of lame...like it's not bad but I just can't see Itoh Misaki and the other guy as a couple. Plus, one minute they were like total strangers and the next minute he was confessing to her - the story just didn't have a logical progression. What I mean is, they sort of jumped from the part of "getting to know eachother" straight to loving eachother, and it was sort of crappy. Anyway, the best bits were the advertising slogans and sequences which were pretty cool, and i think Eita's much better actor than the others goin round...
8. Comments by kaonashi [Rating: 7/10]
A drama set in an advertising company with a pretty lame plotline, some lame acting & weird dialog. The two leads didn't match nor had chemistry. I like Kamenashi but he's not fit to play a lovesick "jester" like this, it seems like they made him act even younger than he already is. Well, after "Sapuri" & "Anego" I think we've seen enough of older women falling for teenage guys for a while. However, I liked the setting & especially the cast. And it's only because of the cast I rate this drama higher then it actually deserves. 7-
9. Comments by Sailorprinzess [Rating: 6/10]
I loved Kame in Nobuta o Produce, and Itoh was good in Densha Otoko. Sadly, though, this drama didn't show what they are capable of. I liked this drama, but there was just something missing from it. There was no chemistry at all between the two main characters, and I found myself skimming over the episodes rather than watching them all the way through, since the plotlines were boring for me. Don't get me wrong, it's not the worst drama ever, but it didn't live up to all of the hype, IMHO. Try it, though to see for yourself.
10. Comments by Susan [Rating: 6/10]
Though I found myself interested in the beginning thanks to the delightful cast, by the end I'd had more than enough. It was a very predictable, absolutely generic coming-of-age romance, with predictable characters and absolutely no plot twists or messiness. It was so tidy from start to finish, to the point where it became boring. Credit to this series for being the first one where I didn't want to strangle Ito Misaki straight away, though. But her flat acting and even flatter character wore on me in the latter half.
11. Comments by jed_ka [Rating: 7/10]
The series is good, but it lacks the tension, more feelings, everything is relative!

You can work with any series provide for the continuation! Superficially, the acting!

It also deals with many issues:
• The love between 2 generations and their conflicts
• The ignorance
• Tolerance
• If Man at the top, then you have to work hard!
• One should what is at the heart, others say their feelings and respect and not lie!
12. Comments by mmyy [Rating: 7/10]
We've seen it all before. The same old themes, the same old twists. But, there were quite a lot of scenes that made me laugh so it wasn't all that boring for me. Kame/Itoh is a failed couple; they just don't have that kinda chemistry to keep it going. But I enjoyed the side characters though. The Enjoy guy was particularly very fun to watch. Also, it gave me an exciting glimpse to the advertising world so in the end, while it wasn't awesome, it still managed to entertain me.
13. Comments by strawberrynkiwi [Rating: 8/10]
I admit Kame's acting is pretty convicing. His expression is very natural. I dunno what Itoh's though, but I guess her character is kinda like that. The side story with Natsuki and Enjoy man was nice. I loved Natsuki, she is adorable. The work theme was boring when I first watched it, but I got used to it and I can relate to it now. So it got a lot better. One complain, LEARN HOW TO KISS. The kissing scenes for me was a real turn off. I didn't believe they were in love.
14. Comments by EstherM [Rating: 6/10]
The source material is quite good, a josei manga about a career woman in the advertising world. What the heck is Kame doing there? Why is his character so prominent, in the manga itLs an older side character? It spoils the original work. And why has poor Eita to be in this? Could have been good but they preferred to ruin a good story for intelligent women because of giving in to the pressure of JE. ItLs okay to watch once maybe.

My roomate enjoyed it (just because she likes Kamenashi Kazuya), I personally wasn`t all that captivated by it (and I don`t like him).

Link? I don`t know! XD

All I know is that some parts of the story were really well though, like the plannings for CMs and all, but the whole love "hexagon?" (not even a triangle anymore.. I don`t know) Was a little bit of a drag.

The supporting cast however were very interesting! ^^
16. Comments by xerith [Rating: 7/10]
The story started quite slow and the relationships and characters are not 100% convincing but it was still enjoyable nonetheless.

I'm sure I'll give at least an 8 if I understood Japanese because the CM slogans didn't make as much sense or probably lost its impact when translated to English.

A happily ever after ending... but like all fairy tales, it leave you wondering... "will it really work out as time goes on?"

This is one good example of a so-so dorama that I just forgot after watching it a few years ago. Again, I don't like Itoh Misaki, but Kamenashi is OK... The story is quite interesting at the beggining and I also like doramas about work, but after a few episodes I didn't really know why they were trying to explain, or if I understood, I just totally forgot, so it was not so important. Maybe I should rewatch it...

This was such a greatly advertised drama that I thought it would definitely be an 8 or a 9 for me. Unfortunately although the story is fairly solid, the characters for me were unconvincing especially Kamenashi Kazuya's character who at times seemed far too childish and/or feminine for his own good. However, as said, the story line was good with Ryo and Sato Koichi giving veteran performances.

Ito did now impress me in this drama, thought she was a bit annoying actually, besides that good acting from the rest of the cast. Could get a little boring sometimes, and some things were just unnecessary to bring up. Although I like the kissing-scene, and also the commissions the editorial staff got! Pretty slow though, didn't have a special energy to make you want to watch more.

The last few episodes made up for the lack of storyline and character development. It's too bad that the ratings weren't so great and it felt a little rushed at the end, but after watching it again and understanding more, Sapuri left me with a good feeling. Wow, this drama was actually pretty good (but don't go into it w/ high expectations). pretty common storyline but believe me this one is x1000 better than anego. Do 20-ish year-old "men" regularly fall for older women? Is this the next permutation of Maza-kon (Mother complex)? On the heels of Akanishi falling for Shinohara in Anego, we now have Kamenashi falling for Ito Misaki. I like Ito, but I gave up after three episodes. Just not interesting enough....

It's boring, useless and nothing happens. Nothing to learn in it, it's even not enjoyable. It looks like anego, but you change the gay with his brown hair with kamenashi. The only reason I managed to finish this is that Ito Misaki is cute. She acts bad but she's cute! tema song is shit as well.

About 7.5. OMG Kame Kaz looks so much like a girl I couldnt stand it! I hate his acting in this and in Nobuta. How dare he steal kisses from Misaki!! Misaki looks the best when they make her look distinguished as always. Boring Romance!!! Itoh Misaki!!! Densha Otoko better! (Spring 07)

Wow!! I love this drama! Kame is one of my favourite actor. The story is very good, interesting, eventful and sometimes touching and funny. I'm interested in commercial world. And it has a great end too! The insert and end songs are my favourites, but the ost song were great too.

Liked this drama. My first time seeing Itoh Misaki as the lead role. Got a little sad at the end. Nice touch on making a modern drama. It goes into the world of balancing work and a love life. It was also good to see some of the work that goes into the commercial business.
