1. Expect nothing to happen. [Rating: 4/10]
The lethargic pace almost put me to sleep. Not much happens. I don't mind slow pace dramas, but when there's nothing to advance the drama along, then I get bored. Sure, Bambino learns from his mistakes at the end of each episode, but it just gets to the point where, "Why am I even watching this?"

The storyline is extremely weak. It just focuses on the food. At times I just wanted to fast-forward through each episode. The only reason I stayed with this drama is because of Matsumoto Jun. He was excellent in Gokusen, and endearing and perfect as Domyoji Tsukasa in Hana Yori Dango. I became a fan of his after watching Gokusen.

Matusmoto Jun is very good as Ban Shogo (Bambino), but he cries so much. After the fifth or sixth straight episode where he was feeling depressed and down on himself and started crying, I almost couldn't stand it anymore. I kept on thinking, "Man, get some confidence back, and stop crying!"

Another thing I liked about it was the food. It was so mouth watering. I could practically smell the aroma in the kitchen. Every dish just looked delicious.

I agree with some people on here who said that Yonamine Tsukasa is creepy. It's just something about his smile.

If it wasn't for Jun, I would have rated this 2/10. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I don't want them to suffer through it like I did.

2. mmmm..... Pasta [Rating: 7/10]
This is actually my favorite Matsu Jun drama, so far ...Kudos to Matsu Jun for his performance in this one and yet it lacks a certain human element to it. The main characters all seem preoccupied with the restaurant or cooking to the extent that they go around visiting other restaurants in their spare time to the detriment of everything else and unfortunately the human relationship element is sorely lacking.Yes ...romance is sadly missing, Fukiishi Kazue and Matsu Jun make a really nice couple, more so than with Inoue Mao (looks too young) in HYD or with Koyuki (looks too old ) in Kimi wa Petto, its a shame the writers didn't make more of an effort to expand their short relationship.

It does a good job of showing the industrial like preparation of food of the kitchen and also the view from the waiter's point of view.In terms of all the other food dramas I found this the most convincing drama .I really enjoyed Sato Ryuta's performance. Sasaki Kuranosuke and Uchida Yuki (who just stood around looking absolutely stunning) are both pretty good actors but sadly didn't do much in this drama.

3. how can you say this is bad? [Rating: 9/10]
I never read the manga's, but i felt and have reached 'the quality' on some Bambino! dialog lines. It dig up a major concern of young guns dream: from "i have the challenges" to "Make it's worth".

On 1st episode, it taught me to stop for being megalomaniac person. Sometimes the dream for higher, slump your life sense's of others dream. 'You're nothing!' that's the point.

Second episode, show the necessity of trust values. You have to pained a lot, for knowing who you're.

3rd episode are my fave. There's no secret spell on your life. No needs to get explain. "They are pro.." Shishido chef said. the pasta's he served, proved the mistaken one, "i wonder how many thousands of times i've made that pasta" as he must to said. Clearly there's no more secrets, no more cheat's code to win your life.

The rest episode, still watching. But, so much promises with this drama. I enjoyed a lot (smirk often), especially for the iryu's reunion, Uchida Yuki, Sasaki Kuronasuke, and Kitamura Kazuki. But. Jun Matsumoto, are the shine as young baka.

Let's tastes what the chef serves.

4. lol [Rating: 7/10]
I don't think anyone would have watched through this if they weren't in love with Jun. Uhm yeah, it was actually okay. It's just that at many times it moved painfully slow and boring. I liked the story and all, and in the end there was no romance and it was based solely on cooking.
For me personally, watching Jun in that amazingly sexy hair of his and cooking this delicious spaghetti (YUMMY) caught most of my attention... maybe that's why I got through this drama and even rated it quite high. Don't keel me though, I thought the story was quite good, and guiltily, my ranking went up after Bambi quit smoking.

5. Painful to watch [Rating: 4/10]
Really disappointed with this series.
Pretty solid cast but the plot and dialogue are weak.
Kitamura Ikki gives me the creeps in this.
I liked Jun's acting in HYD and KWP but his over-emoting as "Bambino" is too painful to watch.
I find it hard to care much for the main protagonist (Jun) in this series. Tanaka Koki also plays a pathetic chatacter in Tokkyu Tanaka 3 Go, albeit infinitely more likeable.
Bambino lacks creativity and the characters are bland. Tokkyu, Hanyome to Papa, Proposal Daisakusen and Liar Game outshine Bambino by a fair margin in terms of entertainment.

6. Cute, like how Matsumoto is always [Rating: 8/10]
I liked this drama, although a little typical. Nothing new to really grasp on to. Matsumoto played the role well, it's like his typical role that he always plays. I would suggest for anyone enjoying a light watch.

Don't expect huge things from this drama, as the storyline is basic and has simple ideas of the boy wanting to make it to the top, although it's funny to see the interaction between characters. Hoshan was HILARIOUS! He could hold that glare for so long, I keep laughing at it! Also Mukai is sooo cute, but needs to work on his acting a bit...

7. A Familiar Taste [Rating: 6/10]
Not a bad drama, a little repetitive if anything. Matsumoto does a resonable job with a strong support cast, but what weighs down its respectability is that cliche that if you "believe in yourself, and you can do anything". If those types of dramas put you off, you may want to stay away from this one. But I enjoyed it, if a little weary of the fact that the plot is oh so familiar. Watch it if you're a Matsumoto Jun fan or just love food (like I do).

Its a pretty normal drama. Nothing special about it that makes you go "I loved it beause....". It just flowed along nicely and when you reach the end you go "Oh. It's finished." If you're a Matsumoto Jun fan then by all means, do watch it. If not, well, it won't make a difference if you do or don't watch it.

I gave it a passing grade, 5, because my like for Jun Matsumoto was enough to drive me to finish the drama. There's no romance so it's mainly abt cooking.. I did like how they added the effect of mini titles to introduce different phases of his character's journey.

This drama was very disappointing. The characters were really overdone and not interesting. In fact, the melodrama in this series were 95% comedic. If you've seen "Hell's Kitchen", then this drama would remind you of that reality TV show except 80% more over the top.

Matsumoto Jun plays Ban Shogo, a person with a raw talent for cooking and who is cocky and proud about it in the beginning. However after working for the restaurant, he realizes how much he has to learn in the business and how inexperienced he really is. Every episode has a scene where he starts crying - and not just a few tears, but a waterfall. It's just painful to watch (not because you feel bad for him) but because it's so frustrating especially since you just saw him cry 10 minutes ago about breaking a plate or getting yelled at by a higher up.

It was mainly because of these "trials" that Ban had to go through that made this show very unpleasant to watch. I had no desire to see what would happen to him and the ending was not fulfilling either. I don't know if I'd recommend this drama to fans of Matsumoto Jun either, it was just that disappointing. The only high point of this drama for me was to see a lot of the dishes being made. They looked delicious.
3. Comments by Kitsuchi [Rating: 5/10]
I can say that the acting skills was very great and funny. MatsuJun is surely a skilled actor already, that's what I think. And the other roles in the series was also convincing. Some were funny, like Edo-san and Masashi-san(-kun XD). But even though.. the plot wasn't too exciting. It was actually boring at times, because it was this disturbing thing coming up sometimes and then MatsuJun would come and suddenly say, "Yosh! I'll try hard and not lose!" - something like that and everything would go smoothly again. It got tiring after some episodes.. Well, the first few ones when you just need to get into the plot, was funny and interesting. But then you start thinking "Okay.. I got it... give me next, please, and make it done" :/.. It was sad thinking like that because I really like MatsuJun's acting, he's funny and great.. So the reason who kept me watching this series until its ending was all because of MatsuJun. If it wasn't him acting as Bambino, I would probably stop watching or something.. ^_^;. He was all acting happy-go-lucky-easy in this series.

Although I'm complaining, I'm glad I watched it, because I did learn a few things.. I'm not going to write the things up - you have to discover those for yourself ;P.

I really enjoyed this drama. Great cast and great food too ..LOL. Matsujun can really play a lot of roles and he can really act as if cooking is his life. You can actually see the sparkle in his eyes whenever he talks about his fav thing....cooking........really excellent actor.
I also really love mukai osamu XD! He's so cute and super tall!! I would prefer if he wears glasses though like in nodame and honey and clover.
Oh,and i also like the winking guy. He's pretty old but he still has that charisma. As for Karina,i've never seen her act before this drama but i really love her acting in bambino and i can't believe she's younger than matsujun

Bambino! is really cool in the beginning but gets really bad at the last episodes.... almost painful to watch!
The casting is OK... some actors plays better than the others... But the 2 actors that really caught my attention were Matsujun and Ryuta Sato... They were outstanding is this dorama...

BtW.. im not sure... but isnt Ikeuchi Hiroyuki in the episode 7???? OMG... i was shocked... hes soooo different!!! But hes still an amazing actor!!!!

Nways... i will give this dorama a 6 out of 10... Afterall i really enjoyed those first episodes.... (oh.. i forgot to mention... this dorama has one of the most predictable endings ever!!!)
6. Comments by poopiefish [Rating: 3/10]
Yet another crappy drama. Expect no surprises from this drama... the storyline is so typical that it hurts. It's your typical "proud guy who's full of himself stumbles over his first obstacle, and loses self-confidence. He gradually realizes "what it means to be a chef" and works hard for his goal... and eventually succeeds" story. It tries really hard to pose as a meaningful drama by having these forced and meaningless "touching dialogs". It could've been a more enjoyable ride if it omitted those scenes...
The pseudo-Italian food was not even appetizing...
I enjoyed watched Jun though, haha. (Hence the rating of 3.)

I was afraid of the whole newbie cook plot but it turned out much better than I expected. Watching this makes me crave for some pasta! The characterization is pretty strong, I like most of the people working in the restaurant, like the 'adult' trio, and the regular chefs like Asuka and Oda-san. The thing is, Eri looks so much older than Ban, was that on purpose? o.0 Also, I only realized for the first time that Matsujun's complexion is pretty awful *ducks*

Oh damn!
Extremely boring, I was almost going to stop watching it. The thing is, there are a lot of dramas where a person want to be something and the path is very hard but at the end he/she really does succeed, and I usually like those kind of dramas, but this one was too much! Too much of everything.... probably the only drama so far where matsujun has disappointed me, but I like the rest of the cast and it had a few cute and watchable moments.
10. Comments by Susan [Rating: 9/10]
At first I was annoyed and frustrated with this series. The main character was an idiot and it was so obvious! But as Ban Shogo grew as a person, so did my enjoyment of this series! By the end I was rooting for him. I loved watching the food being made. It was truly a highlight, and I've been inspired in my own cooking. This series is definitely worth sitting through the painful first half to get ot the splendid ending.

I loved Matsumoto Jun work in this dorama. It is amazing to notice his progression through the show, and how he learns to do a better job. It is true that he always does the same movements while in the kitchen so you clearly see he's acting and he's not improving very much; I felt he was always cooking the same. Besides that, I think the show explains some good things about our skills and goals.

A very very good drama! It's about Matsumoto Jun, nicknamed Bambino, who is a Japanese chef who loves to cook Italian food. He's very cocky and thinks his food is great, but when he goes to work a top-knotch restaurant, he gets pwned over and over until he learns humility and learns from his powerful co-workers. This drama made me absolutely love and have respect for Italian food!

chotto interesting, what i hate is matsumoto jun cried too much on first fourth episode. You're man, don't let your tears falling too much like that. Beside that, i like the quote in this drama, such as "A man who can't focus on the work in front of him, Doesn't have the right to talk about dream".

Bambino was ok. I wouldn`t say it was a great drama though.

The cast was interesting with a mix of veterans and new comers, and the topic (food) was also interesting to start with but the way the drama unfolded was cliche and too predictable. It would have been 100x better if we could have at least tasted the food I think.

Not bad, but not my favorite either.

Jun should learn to tone down his intensity. Its a pain watching him over-emoting but sometimes he hit just the right spot and actually made me feel for this annoying character named Ban. The food in the drama looks tasty and I love it when they protrayed Jun's character as a trainee. Doing rotational duty in the kitchen. As for romance well... it's not too focus on that either so if it's just for any Jun's fans, you can catch this one.

It's not bad, but not great either. Nothing really particular. It's not one of those movies that just hit you because it's so good, or so bad. It's just mediocre. I felt that the parts showing Ban's emotions were way too long.
