Synopsis
Why do you hate me? Who are you?

When Mamoru Ando (Goro Inagaki) was young, he encountered a burglar in his house. The fear of that moment became a major theme in his life, leading to him joining a security firm. His heightened sense of danger avoidance saw him promoted early. With his engagement to Yuki (Aya Okamoto), the daughter of company director Shimaya (Masato Ibu), fast approaching, he is at the peak of happiness. However on the train on the way to an important business meeting, he meets a women dressed for mourning and finds himself in all sorts of trouble. The woman's name is Misa Aihara (Kyoko Hasegawa). Mamoru doesn't remember her, but Misa bears a considerable grudge against him. From that moment on, Mamoru's life begins a noisy collapse.

According the producer Hideki Isano, he wanted to show how we can hurt others without realizing and how because of that how some people live only to hate. He wanted to show the sadness of such a life. Both Mamoru and Misa's names begin with M, as does "memory" which is a keyword in this drama. One day suddenly the curtain falls on a tragedy.

1. Well written, well produced [Rating: 9/10]
The theme of this drama is about the human heart, its emotions and emotion driven deeds. Thumbs up to the writers who were able to convey this message, explore the subject of hate, jealousy, revenge, and anger, while at the same time weave all of this into a story that flows beautifully.
This drama also goes into something deeper; it goes into how events are all interconnected, and how one action and lead to a series of chain events that really gives the saying "everything happens for a reason" its run for the money.
Fast paced, yet deep, this drama has all the elements to keep you glued until the very end.

Riveting drama about a man who dedicates his life to the safety of others but can't help bringing calamity on himself. Mystery, intrigue and suspence loom at every corner, and everytime you think the story can't go further, it bounces back with the same energy to reveal yet another twist.

3. Interesting Plot [Rating: 9/10]
I like mystery shows and this show definitely appealed to me although the 1st few episodes were very disturbing as Hasegawa's character is too psychotic for my liking. But overall, the plot was fantastic and the acting was good also.

Goro's acting is getting better and better. Thought he was someone shy but he can act! I din like the starting part until to middle part of the drama I can't stop to watch and find out what happened.

"M no Higeki" is a great drama. Though the plot may not seems very believable, it's still interesting and worth watching. Once again, Kyoko-chan proves that she indeed has good acting skills.

Both Goro and Kyoko's acting amaze me especially Kyoko. Personally I thought she won't be able to carry out the role of Misa well but she proved me wrong. It had some funny parts in episode 1 and the last episode. I was actually laughing like crazy at the last minute of the last episode! The look on Goro's face was priceless! I like the theme song by Sister Q as well as the OST too! Worth watching! This is definitely one of the better dramas in winter 2005. =)

The first few episodes are difficult to watch because you feel so sorry for Goro's character-- who dispite his quirks, is a decent guy. Kyoko is very good. You think her character is so evil, it's amazing how your perception can change as the drama progresses. The story does get a little unbelievable toward the last two episodes--way too many coincidences, but there are a few episodes in the middle that are very good.

One of my all time favorites! Dark, intense, mysterious, gripping. Just when you thought the show was going to end in episode 7, a subplot which had been boiling under arose, one which you may have not thought off, really added to the show. Great performance by the whole cast, supporting cast really made a difference in this succeeding so well, Goro was even good, but Kyoko's role was mesmerizing.

First, J싞q is way better than she was in Wonderful Life. The pace could have been faster and actually most of the plot are built on lack of communication. If _Y had communicated better with the ppl around him, J싞q's revenge wont be as effective. Anyway, there are enough suspense+twists later on, though predictable, and the acting is good enough to keep you watching. 6+1

"oh my f*cking lord!" - was my first response when I finished this drama. Excellent plot with very unexpected twists. There are like secrets within secrets. Truth often hurts. As each secret uncovers, the truth to it are somehow inter-linked. This drama taught me something - be careful of your doings. You might hurt someone without even knowing it & in turn this will change your life...

Ridiculous from the get-go. It was fun to watch for a little while, but eventually the cracks in the script became more glaring. Dropped it in the middle of episode 3. Bad script, bad acting, OTT cartoonish characters. If you're looking for a serious mystery, this isn't the drama to go with (my mistake).

COMPLETE. mystery/thriller. Nice! I love a thriller and quite dark plot like this. I learn so much, honestly. Now, I'm thinking back, maybe a little thing that I did in the past actually bring a bad luck for people, or maybe asking for help can also be a bad thing to do.... the drama made me think.

Actually I'd give it a 7.5. Good pacing, overall message, and execution, but the premise and circumstances surrounding why the two people wanted revenge on Ando (especially the second one) are too far-fetched. And the um..."Sorry, I forgot" excuse is too lame to be used more than once believably.

Excellent series! Watched all 10 eps, great story! I'm not a big fan of mysteries but this was wonderfully put together, goes to show you how long people hold grudges xD Great casting as well! Goro-chan and Kyoko-chan were great!

Good performances by the leads! I enjoyed the twists and turns the drama took. I must admit I enjoyed the first half more than the second. I thoroughly enjoyed the unique dynamic between Mamoru and Misa's relationship.

Enjoy watching this mystery dorama. Hasegawa's acting is superb. Things we did unawarely in the past means nothing to us, but means everything to others - living in hatred all his life.

Not as exciting as I thought but the story is well plotted (though not very believable). Ando-san is quite cute, seeing him face all the tragedies that he is indirectly linked to.

Extremely addictive... The suspense kept me wanting to know more... Thumbs up for Goro & Kyoko's great acting... Should have won the best drama instead of Gokusen 2...

the message behind the story is a good reminder of how forgetful we could be. but the plot is just ok. a bit long and repetitve, and sometimes not very convincing.

Inagaki Goro proves his acting skills in M no Higeki (The Tragedy of M). It also has it moments of humor that make me want to continue on with this series.

Another dark drama. Ending unravels a little oddly and somewhat unrrealistic but nevertheless suspenseful.
