1. Very funny, if a bit corny! [Rating: 7/10]
I heard a lot of mixed reviews regarding Enka no Joou, so I wasnft sure what to expect when I started watching it. I was a bit indifferent after the first episode, but I was definitely hooked by the second.

Amami Yuki is a force to be reckoned with! Not only is she an amazing enka singer, but shefs a fabulously believable actresses. She gripped my attention and kept it within her grasp throughout her entire performance. I also enjoyed the characters of the supporting cast, especially Harada Taizo, who surprised me. Hefs not the stereotypical handsome lead male character, but he was charming and lovable in his own way.

The plot was entertaining and I loved certain aspects of it. I loved how Himawari traveled through life making friendships and healing lives, although within her own soul she was battling loneliness. I was a little disappointed with the ending, or specifically, with the last two episodes. They seemed set apart from the rest of the drama and were a bit too corny. Now, I like corn, but not when itfs so strong and misplaced.

This drama is a successful comedy, and despite the ending I found it enjoyable and would recommend it to anyone who likes enka, fun, and the very talented Amami Yuki-san!

2. Too dumb [Rating: 4/10]
I think that after playing such a strong character in The Queen's Classroom Amami Yuki was looking for a completely different kind of role. Unfortunately she chose this drama/comedy. It was really sad seeing her play such a dim-witted and too often spineless woman. It is really hard to like the main characters in this series; none seem to possess the slightest amount of common sense.

I think some of this is meant to be a comedy but the writers apparently thought that just making the characters idiots would come across as funny. It didn't. Perhaps if this had been done as anime we might have an easier time overlooking the lack of
normal human conduct. Maybe my expectations were too high since Amami Yuki was the
star but I still couldn't find much to like here.

One feature I did like was that most episodes contained a brief moment where the derivation of a kanji character was discussed. This was quite interesting to the beginning Japanese student.

3. Amazing Ending [Rating: 10/10]
I think that this drama is one of the crowning work dramas in japanese drama history.
This drama is constituted from the multi-story by multi-ending.
though it is a situation comedy, if a viewpoint is changed -- a homicide drama, a love story, and spiritual story and horror story.
Ending is also happy ending, and sad ending ,and never ending, and horror ending ,and dead ending , and open ending.
This drama's key items are himawari's bag,and himawawari's cellular phone.
Attention her's bag at the snow-covered mountains scene.

4. An easy to watch and fun show [Rating: 8/10]
I don't understand how some others who have reviewed this drama gave it such poor ratings. A story about a woman who some want to consider over-the-hill struggling to make it in a form of music that lots of people consider over-the-hill has comedic elements alone. Add to that the unusual way it was made and you have a show that keeps you watching.

Clearly not the greatest but entertaining enough that I finished it

Never before have I had the pleasure of seeing Amami Yuki is this kind of role! Her range is astonishing! In this series alone we see her both as the beauty she is, but also has sill;y, bumbling, tough, and kind-hearted. Not to mention her superb enka singing! This series is one of few that hearkens back to a time when dramas were less about the romance and comedy, and more about the morals and the stories of those around the main character. That's Enka no Joou to a point, but there's so much more to it. It's truly one of those hidden gems that you simply can't stop watching once you start. It's sweet, but not enough to put you off after a time. I admit this is not all around the greatest of series, so I gave it an 8, but it's definitely worth watching if only for Amami Yuki fans.

I wanted to watch this series because I am actually one of the weirdos who likes enka. The problem is that I was hoping that it would actually be more about enka, but it really only uses it as an inconsequential gimmick. They could of just as well made her a rap singer or a baseball player and it wouldn't have made any difference. So when you take away the gimmick what are we left with? Just an average comedy. It has its funny moments and entertaining characters and it's definitely watchable but it lacks any substance and will likely be quickly forgotten.

amami was funny
the casting was good also
BUT
it got really repetitive, and instead of me laughing towards the middle of the show i i got tired of seeing her choose the wrong path.....it was really annoying....so, it was just ok for me

A very fun drama with a somewhat satisfactory ending (kinda corny). This drama made me a huge fan of Amami Yuki and I can't wait to watch more stuff with her!

Goods cast..Amami Yuke, Fukuda Mayuko, Narumi Riko..but because the directing and storyline was just so-so....this show was average....

Quite disappointed with the drama, mostly because I enjoyed Top caster so much. It's not the lead's fault, but the plot is such a gag.

Decent drama, but not much more than that. Acting is good, but the story is not that extremely interesting - it's quite funny tho:)

Ok. The first part is nice and humorous. Then it goes dramatic, which isn't that good. It's watchable, but not great.

Part drama, part comedy, part musical, part fantasy. Great performances by Yuki, Taizo Harada and Riko Narumi.
