Synopsis
Meiji 44th year. Meiko is the daughter of Daigo, who owns a western restaurant in Tokyo. She loves to eat the omelette prepared by Daigo, and the nukaduke (pickles) prepared by her mother, Iku. Theirs is a warm, close knitted family, and Meiko's love for food grows with age. Even when she attends an all-girls' high school, her mind is filled with thoughts of food. As Meiko changes from someone who loves to eat, to a person who loves to prepare food for others to eat, she starts to display an inner strength as foretold by her mother and her grandmother.

I never liked the actress An, and I usually don't care too much for the morning dramas filmed by the Osaka crew (and always set in Osaka of course.) But this is about the most appropriate and likeable role I've seen for her. I also love all the side characters, especially the young sister-in-law, Noriko. The story is great. I like the time period. I can't really find any complaints, and there are lots of really good things, it's a wonderful specimen of a morning drama. But for some reason when it was finished, I was just like, that was cool. Usually, I can't stop thinking about morning dramas when they are over, even if I didn't like them. I don't know if there was something lacking here, that I can't quite clarify, or if I'm just finally getting burned out on them, but something just didn't do it for me.

I didin't find this very interesting until 4 months had elasped. I really like the anti-war sentiments which I found more prominent than othe asadoras. I can't believe that Maeda AKi was 29 at the time of the showing of this.
