Synopsis
Misaki Kyosuke, an excellent plastic surgeon, started living a very private life after his wife passed away, confining his main joys in life to cultivating his herb garden and spending time with his only daughter. One day, a woman enters his clinic and asks that her face be completely changed to whatever Kyosuke wishes. Kyosuke is very suspicious and refuses her request, but she begs him to reconsider and explains that she is trying to escape from her violent husband. Kyosuke finally agrees and alters her appearance to that of his late wife. Afterwards, a relationship begins to develop between the two of them, but things start to unravel when two police officers show up on his doorstep looking for the "missing" woman.

1. one of my favorites [Rating: 9/10]
I loved Tokiwa Takako's voice in this, especially in the beginning; Osawa Takao did a superb job as an incurably disturbed and pathalogical cop; and Tamura Masakazu seemed to fit this role perfectly, his appearance matching his persona as an extremely sensitive and somewhat effeminate gentleman. The central issue, though, that of Kyosuke changing Miyuki into the likeness of his wife seemed to stretch believability. There is also the difficulty of imagining Tokiwa and Tamura as compatible. However, the interesting connections tying the many characters together in multiple ways created many interesting subplots which added to the intrigue. A good comment on the human condition. And Jane Birkin's melancholy song at the beginning is excellent!

2. sore ga ... utsukushii [Rating: 7/10]
another drama with a memorable line ... in the final episode when Tamura say ... "sore ga ... utsukushii" deep ... that's deep.
uchiyama rina also stars ... that's always a winner. this wasn't one of tokiwa's better roles though.
osawa takao ... doesn't fly as a villian. not after seeing him play shuichi in the hoshi no kinka saga. just doesn't seem right.
amazingly, i didn't like this theme song. that's probably what made my rating drop so much ... tokiwa and osawa takao's bad acting and the not so great drama theme. masakazu and uchiyama held this rating up greatly ... added in with that memorable quote.

3. At least I sat through it [Rating: 4/10]
This seemed to be a drama made for a little older viewers like myself maybe. But I don't know, it's not that good. The plot is somewhat interesting, but it's too draggy. Tamura Mazakasu's one of the most popular actors in Japan and this was the first time I saw him act. I got quite tired of his head nodding and artificial laughfter. I've now seen him in Oyaji and Otousan where he does more appealing roles.
I give this one a 4 because even though it was boring I still wanted to know how it would end. And that's a good thing at least.

4. Incredible miscast [Rating: 7/10]
Both Tokiwa san and Osawa san give great performances as their characters (of the victim and the cop). But whoever cast Tamura san as the doctor should be shot. An effete 50 something is not what I would think of being a love interest for a beautiful woman half his age. This guy couldn't protect a puppy from a pigeon. His idea of emotion connection with the lady is a stupid eye movement that he must have done a thousand times.

5. Very Good! [Rating: 9/10]
I have waited so long to buy this one but I'm glad that I did! I truely enjoyed this drama. Tokiwa Takako is the spark of this show and she looks so pretty in this show. Acting performances were excellent all around. The only complain I have is that Tamura doesn't look right with Takako as a pair. A little too old. Come think of it, I would have a tough time finding a lead Japanese drama actor for this part. Who?

6. Watch with your gf! [Rating: 9/10]
Wow, once I started watching this I couldn't stop. The story just keeps getting better as the drama progresses. The twists may drive you crazy from time to time. The compatibility between Dr. Misaki and Miyuki may also seem shoddy, but man, if I was an middle aged man like that, I wouldn't hold back either for Miyuki.

7. Could have been better... [Rating: 7/10]
Interesting idea for a plot, but the developement of the storyline lacks more depth & charm, pace is slow but twists took off after Episode 5. Likely adored only by true fans of Tokiwa Takoko & Tamura Masakazu. *Avail for trade-2 DVDs/B/Eng Sub.

8. Not too bad [Rating: 8/10]
I loved Osawa Takao is this dorama, I found his character to be really believable as a wife beater. I felt the story lagged and was unrealtistic in some parts, but overall I think everyone should check this dorama out at least once.

I was going to put a 9 or a 10 until the episode 7. But the suspense goes decreasing during the three last episodes and when the police guy get out of the water pretending he was dead, it was SO RIDICULOUS!!!!! hahaha. The gun was still working and the he was floading!!!! Fuck, it's just not possible man!! Anyway, it's a great dorama which's similar to Aoi Tori in some ways. I like Tokiwa's acting (I'm not a fan basically) and the theme song is in French!! My language! Jane Birkin, c'est un aquoiboniste lalllalllala. This dorama is very good! Suspence, good acting (sometimes big mistakes in the acting but it's so big that you'll forget them). I just thought that someone would die.... for next time!

Picked this one up on the merits of Tamura Masakazu being in it. This was also the first time my wife and I watched Takako Tokiwa star and both were commendable in this one. Takako has become a favorite in our household because she brings an element of charm to every character she portrays (particularly "Aishiteiru to itte kure" and "Beautiful life"). It was interesting watching Takao Osawa play a somewhat villainous role as the cop after watching him as a doctor in the "Heaven's Coins" series ... but he did well. The plot was pretty good but it just didn't hold my interest as much as other doramas. Still I recommend it as the three characters above put on very good performances in this one.

This drama is amazing. I thought it would end up being predictable... but I was certainly wrong.

Tamura is an amazingly charismatic actor and his emotions definitely carried the plot. his lighthearted and softspoken demeanor made sense in context with his "background" as illustrated in the story.

Just a great series.

In the beginning it was very interesting but towards the middle it starts to suck and it gets even worse towards the ending. They try to make this show very mysterious and complex but it did not live up to it's expectation at the end. I would give it an 8 in the beginning but after the ending I'll give an 6.
5. Comments by MilkyWay [Rating: 7/10]
Misaki is so gay, I swear. And his slow movements all the time *_*
I know this isn't supposed to be a funny dorama, but because of him I had to giggle so much XD
The story itself isn't too bad, but lacks in many parts.
And the french chansons killed me in each episode a little bit more >.<
6. Comments by Lady Zhuge [Rating: 5/10]
This drama starts off with a promising first episode, but then drags on and on with boring exchanges between the two leads. It's a shame really, with such an intriguing premise, but I ended up only watching the first half and then fastforwarded through the rest to see how it would end.

A very interesting and exciting drama the whole way. Tokiwa Takako was ravishingly beautiful in this drama and Tamura Masakazu played a good male lead. Osawa Takao really adopted his villain role well. One of the better dramas of our time. Go and watch!
9. Comments by kaonashi [Rating: 2/10]
One of the worst drama I've seen. Way too draggy & Tamura Mazakasu doesn't fit in his role. What saved this from getting a 1 was that I kind of wanted to know how it'd end. And that's a good thing at least, I guess.

Tamura Masakazu is charming as ever, Tokiwa Takako delivered her best performance in this show: excellent. Osawa Takao is a really versatile actor, he shines when doing evil characters.

The age difference between the main characters didn't both me at all. It was generally a good drama, but with a lot of twists and suspense. The ending is bittersweet.

The story was kinda slow and took me alot of effort to follow this dorama on TV... a plastic surgeon and a wife who wants to hide from her violent husband.

Story's interesting. The turning point is very interesting... a bit shocking.
Misaki sensei is really "yasashii sou"... Quite depressing drama

Very cheesy overall. Not even the actors can save the series from being a mediocre romance drama from the 90's.

Thrilling to the end. Tokiwa was great, but the best acting is from Osawa. Shocking ending.

Well worth viewing. Fantastic carry job by Tamura and Tokiwa.

Tamura, considering his background as explicated, played his role to a "T"
