|---|
Kuroki was once an ace detective, but after being traumatized from a case, he became unable to work and was transferred to another division, where he idles his time away. One day, a particular case pulls him out of his rut and gives him a chance to return as a detective.

Here's a drama that understands the importance of well developed characters, Gonzo unfolds at a good pace dedicating just enough time to back story to make things a lot more interesting. I think there are alot of things jdrama screenwriters can learn from this show, you don't need to be to flashy to make a drama intense, while Gonzo gets off to a bit of a slow start the pressure builds and doesn't let down, its a slow burner with some very good payoffs in the later episodes.

Excellent police drama. Great writing, you get the feeling that the supporting and guest characters are real people, rather than a just means of progressing the plot or filling time. The initial wackiness was reduced, which improved things no end. The fourth episode was superb and the seventh episode was even better, and is one the the best single j-drama episodes I've seen. Probably 7.5 for me. My main criticism would be the pacing of episode 2-6, too slow (and 2-5 could be skipped altogether without affecting audience's understanding) But episode 7 was great and how the case unfolded in the last few episodes was quite interesting and entertaining. I really like the cameo by Ikewaki Chizuru and Uchino Masaaki was very convincing. Fun watching (the change in) Uchino Masaaki's character. Some really good intense scenes. Good action vibes&production throughout. 5th episode heats up! Enjoyed the scuffle! In my opinion probably the best scripted drama of 2008 overall and certainly the best mystery drama since Unfair. The character development is very well executed, this drama made me like and dislike most protagonists, meaning they came across a human being with weaknesses, ego problems and hidden agendas, just like real people. |
