Hokkaido, northernmost of the Japanese islands, is still full of wilderness. Goro comes to this wild country with his son Jun and his daughter Hotaru after divorcing his wife in Tokyo. The family settles just outside of Furano, a small town in the center of Hokkaido, to start a new life. The series depicts the everyday life of this family and change which occurs especially in the minds of the children as to what "civilization" really means. |
