Synopsis
The universal theme of friendship, in all its vulnerability, tenderness, and purity, is explored in this drama. The flow of seasons forms a thematic continuity to the action: the severity of youth in summer, the sentimentality of autumn, and the frustration of winter. Together, this group of boys cope with common adversity, face the death of a friend, and prepare to deal with the world of adulthood.

1. A very well-written drama [Rating: 9/10]
This must be the most touching, thought-provoking, inspiring and well-written drama I've ever watched. The plot is very well-thought out and refreshing, with hardly any cliches (which is quite a feat considering the number of dramas that have been made by now...).

The first 6 episodes we're admittedly quite boring, and the storyline was quite slow-paced, without much excitement. However, I feel that this is a necessary evil, as it is during these couple of episodes that we get to see the relationships between the main characters develop properly, before they face the immense obstacles that the 2nd part of the series brings them. I'm very sure that the relationships wouldn't be as convincing if the drama started had out not long before the 7th episode instead.

I won't say too much about the plot in the 2nd part, as it would be far more interesting for you to discover when you watch it yourself. However, I'd like to say that this drama has taught me quite a few good lessons... Not to mention that the relationships between the friends in the show are extremely heart-warming and 'real'.

All in all, this drama is fantastic. It has everything that makes a good drama -- a great cast, refreshing plot, good character and relationship development. This is the type of drama you will feel is worth your time watching, because it not only entertains you (like most of the shallow, crowd-pleasing dramas that are all over the place now), it also sets you thinking.

2. Quite a dark drama [Rating: 4/10]
Something like the Japanese version of Stand By Me. Shingo's performance of a low IQ boy is good. A bit gangster type of drama. What do you expect from Sorimachi? A surprising appearnce by Hamazaki Ayumi. She acts as a teen who gets pregnant. Rare sight!!!

3. Good! [Rating: 9/10]
This drama is good! The front part is rather slow.. but it gets better at the back. A very touching story abt friendship. How they protect each other etc.. & Shingo's acting is fabulous!!

When I first watched a Nojima Shinji drama (koukou kyoshi 2003) i was very impressed by the dramatic plot. However by the time I come to watch Miseninen, it seems that Nojima adds those ridiculous plot development just so that he has a context to deliver his messages on social unjustice and human failiures. It gets a bit tiring after you realize that the drama is just a vehicle for his personal opinions. Ishidas Isssei was very good though. It's a pity that he hasn't acted recently.

Excellent! Although this story is not one of the happiest ones around, I would definately recommend it. For me, it really got me thinking about how society is. May not be a universal society assumption, but at least something I can relate to Japan with.

not bad but it becomes very dark too suddenly without a logic. The tone of the dorama is too different comparing the first and the second part of it.
