Within the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau, a.k.a., "Marusa," there is a section called the Third Co-ordination Division. The mission of the members of this division is to detect both complex and shrewd forms of tax evasion, which the bureau is normally unable to uncover through normal tax inspection procedures.
In this drama, "Marusa" investigates a Yakuza boss who's been making tons of money by running an illegal casino; an economic critic who is a famous tax reform crusader; a writer whose books constantly make the best-selling list; and a bank cashier who has the nickname "the professor of tax evasion techniques," although she doesn't actually commit tax evasion herself.
In order to catch those that commit tax fraud, "Marusa" members have the authority to work "undercover." Through various investigation techniques, such as wearing disguises, wire tapping, and breaking into and searching the premises of suspected felons-all of which would normally be considered illegal-"Marusa" tries to bring the wrongdoings of criminals to light.

i really would give it an 8.5.. because i enjoyed all the stories tremendously.. right from the start, i was amazed at the lengths these tax evasion officers would go to catch someone.. the undercovers are funny, but convincing.. especially the one with miyake ken and nagai masaru as hosts in a nightclub.. that ep was super funny.. the cast, of course was great, what would you expect from esumi makiko? even though the emphasis was on the investigation, there was still enough development on the characters themselves to add a bit of familiarity into the story.. though the storyline is a little predictable, it's a show worth watching if you would like to learn more about tax evasion stuff.. i finally understand the meaning of [money laundering].. =P love the cast..!! tominaga-kun.. | | Reviewed by arashinokoto on 16 June 2004 | | 2. | great cast, great drama [Rating: 10/10]
^_^ the cast put together was superb. couldnt have imagined a more balanced team to fight tax evasion in tokyo. some members of the team contributed brains while others who couldnt were more than willing to serve their physical attributes in undercover investigations *wink*

Rated this at 6/10 because I tink besides hilarious, I personally dun realli like this story plot. Watched and bought this drama coz of Esumi Makiko and Ken Miyake. Hilarious! This is a funny look into the inner workings of the Tokyo Tax office starring the still fines Esumi Makiko. he visual quality is very goo. The pace of the show is very good also. It was really edit very well so you dont get like a gag a minute slap stick routines. Reminds me of Shomuni but Makiko looks even more gorgeous here in corporate wear and her hair bunned up. Quite interesting to watch the different cases of tax evasion and how they go about catching the culprits red-handed. Hmm.. this wasn`t what I expected at all. It had great parts, bad parts but overall a good cast of actors. It`s not a must see, but it is enjoyable to watc when you have time. |
