1. Great cast and story [Rating: 7/10]
I loved the cast and the story was interesting. This drama takes place before, during, and after WWII in both Japan and Brazil. The story of a poor family split apart and their struggles and triumphs. (Mostly struggles). I think everyone did a great job on this drama. I watched the whole drama but I just could not get really thrilled about it. Can't find any fault with it just did not do it for me 100% for what ever reason. It probable deserves a little higher than a 7 but when I compare it vs. other drama's that I gave a higher rating then...

This drama was sad sometimes and touching too
I got all teary-eyed in both the first and last episodes. The only thing I didn't like was that I thought it was a bit slow at times...and I never really had that "oh my gosh i neeeeed to see the next episode" kind of feeling. Maybe it would have been better if it was a bit shorter. But overall, it was a good drama and I learned stuff from it...also helped because Tsubasa was in it hehe. And the little girls were adorable!

3. Wonderful casting [Rating: 7/10]
The cast in this historical drama was awesome. It shows the lives of two sisters as they are separated by war and poverty. The story is very moving and touches on topics not spoken of often.

Another war-era drama about expats struggling with the locals. This one sinks in the quicksand of thick melodrama.

A historical drama that is filled with talented actors and actresses. Its premise is very similar to a film made some years ago for an American audience about a Japanese picture-mail-bride. I am brought to tears at every emotional scene--splendidly made. The Portugese spoken by Imai Tsubasa is very shakey, but even he adds a good performance to this touching tale of love, the horror of war, family ties, and perserverance.

Good show...good cast...interesting historical information concerning plight of a segment of some Japanese families in Brazil...Only issue I have with this series is that throughtout the show Haru is much taller then Natsu....until they meet in Japan later in life as elderly women...suddenly Natsu is much taller then Haru...I know it's a minor issue..but it does take away from the show...

A touching family drama of two sisters trying to reconnect after 70+ years of separation. What is harder to bear: To leave behind the ones you love or to be left left behind by the ones you love?

OMG... Although my japanese wasn't very good, and half the time not paying attention cause i'm trying my best to translate for my parents... This was a very good historical drama. It's so heartwarming in parts and yet so touching. The bond between two sisters is so strong. Tsubasa is just adorable...haha
