Okay, season's over, and it's back to the drawing board for my---
Oh wait. My Niners don't even have a drawing board any more.
I don't feel sorry for any of the teams that didn't get into the play offs.
And I"m really annoyed that a team as plumb dumb as the Viks backed into the playoffs.
But I do feel bad about the Pats. Clearly they are still a great team, but with all the injuries, I don't think they're gonna get a chance to show it much this year. I just think they're stretched too thin to make it through the playoffs. _________________

I've never gotten over the viks screwing up getting their cards in on time on draft day. Man, they're just too damned dumb to win.
Wierd. I never even considered the Steelers a contender at the beginning of the year. But I really starting to think they're gonna take it all. _________________

Philly vs Pitt?
Hey, fits right into my N.Y. bias. Anyone who can kick Philly's butt, in anything... should. And I think the Steelers would kick some serious Iggle tail feather. _________________

i am also one to agree that the vikes do not belong in the playoffs. all that talent, and they need assistance to get in. what cr*p. i am totally surprised that mike tice is still the head coach.
as for my 'boys, i'm not disappointed. i said before this season even started that i was already looking to 'next year'. hopefully, they'll be able to acquire GOOD free agents this time around....

I feel the same way about the Bills.
Yea can't forget about them too. They were playing so good too. Had they made it I think they would have been a force especially with that defense and McGahee!
For me the AFC is kind of hard to tell. I'm pretty much convinced the AFC will win the superbowl and I like the Pats cause of Brady and Vinateiri and the experience but they do have some injuries. The Steelers got a great team but I still remember when they had Kordell when he was a rookie or unexperienced and lost in the title game and for some reason that scenario seems to play out in my mind. I'd love for Manning to win it all but something about the Colts says choke up, expecially if they play the Pats. The Chargers are as good as anyone so maybe they'll go deep but who knows. As far as the Broncos go, I hate that team and even now I don't feel like the Jets are the real deal. Unless Pennington can somehow start hitting his WR with consistency.

Lots of talent on offense and that's it. They really need help on defense. I like Antoine Winfield and Kevin Williams and the ex-raider Lance Johnstone aren't bad but everyone else needs to pick up the slack.

I find myself pulling for the Steelers this year. I think they deserve it. They keep finding new ways to win. _________________

The Steelers keep finding new ways to win?
I thought the only way they knew how to play was to punch the other guy in the mouth, kick him when he's down, and then rumble into the end zone.
Re: Elton's comment about hating the Broncos...
The Broncos drive me nuts. I really want to root for them.
I've been a huge Jake Plummer fan since his Arizona days. I flat out love watching the Bronco O-Line work. Hell, Barlow could probably run behind that line.
They have a great mix of experience and young talent at the wide out position. And their whole defense is fast and talented.
But there's something missing. And I don't know what it is. They should be better, more consistant than they are.
As for Shanahan... I was really ticked off at the way he left the Niners. He robbed the Niners blind when he left, stole Walsh's playbook and his whole organizational chart, and pretty much set up 9ers east.
It was annoying.
But like they say... if you're gonna steal, steal from the best.
Anyway. I'm over it. He's built a heck of a team, and a good solid organization. But like I said... something's missing.
Who knows. It took years to break Steve Young of all the horrible habits he picked up playing for crappy teams. Maybe Plummer just needs another year of reeducation. _________________

Geezer, my son ... oh, yee of little faith.
The Steelers have the potential to go all the way. Yeah, Rothlisberger is hurt, Bettis and Burris are still banged up, and Staley is just now beginning to mend completely. But then, on the other side, they have Farrior who's being considered for the MVP award, Ward who's considered one of the top receivers in the NFL and a very good blocking receiver, and Paomulu (sp?) who Cower says is one of the best safeties in the NFL. So who am I to doubt them?

Faith!
My friend... I watched 16 49er games this year. That's faith.
As to the Steelers... I didn't need Cowher to tell me Troy Polamalu was gonna turn into one of the best Safeties in the league. I watched him all through his USC career and thought he was awesome.
If Rothlisberger comes back anywhere near healthy... my money's on the Steelers. _________________

Much of my hate about the Broncos pretty much stems from the fact that I'm a Raiders fan so I learn to hate the Broncos
But I agree with you, Plummer's a great QB. I always thought of him as overrated in Arizona since the team didn't go anywhere but now he's proving he can do something with the Broncos.
And yea that O-line is amazing. You have Clinton Portis then get rid of him and then put in Griffin who tears it up and then he starts to fumble so bench him and Droughns becomes a 1000 yard rusher and then bench him cause he fumbles and then Tatum Bell tears it up. Seriously, anyone can run behind those big guys. I'm trying to figure out if KC has the better O-line or Denver
On defense they got the Champ, Lynch, Kennedy, and Kelly Herndon. I think all those guys are superb defensive players but as the commentator was saying during the Colts game, they just don't make big plays.
