last time i was in japan, i didn't really take a lot of pix, and not any of j-girls upclose, i wasn't sure how to ask for their pix, i couldn't find the courage to ask them up close without embarrassing them.
practice the following phrase:
syashin torasete morate ii desu ka?
(it is okay if i take your picture?)
when i went...i went nuts...i took like 500 pics....digital camera, big memory card...but digital memory is so cheap now, it's like peanuts.

not really looking to date them, although that would be a bonus , just looking to take pix of them and a short conversation would be nice, that would make my trip more memorable.
dude you should be able to swing that, no problem...shinjiro (believe!)
just kick game like you would normally...go to bars, clubs or watevers buy some chick a drink....there are SO MANY places to go...only there for one week, you'll have to pick and choose.

qilver, you will have lots of fun in Japan if you loosen up. Don't worry so much. 250 pics for one week?? Not enough man. You need to load up on the Memory Sticks before you go. And follow everyone's advice above.

thanks for the important phrase, i'll be sure to use it, especially the cute J-girls that i take a pix of, wish me luck. Did the phrase work all the time on the j-girls?
500 pix!, wow!, so far i have two memory sticks totaling about just under 400 pix, i might buy another memory stick, saw one at bestbuy for $80 for a 512mb stick.

bro i didn't ask every girl i met to take a pic...it all depends who the person is and what kind of vibe you got going on....some chix weren't down for a picture but others were....it's as simple as that, yo.
being able to speak a lil' japanese goes along way though...because depending where you are....even if certain ppl speak english many are very reticent to use it because they're embarrassed because their english isn't good....unless the person does speak pretty good english.
dude you're going to tokyo right? tokyo is the sh*t...it makes new york look slow and i lived there for 3 fuggin' years.

wow you guys had some conversations while i was in my daily 12 hour coma
Anyway qiver, cool to hear u're going to Japan as well ^^. I bought my ticket yesterday and I'll be in Japan from Juli 12th till August 15th. When are you going?
THen about taking millions of pics... I guess this should be a common goal of anyone on this forum, but don't you think your family or non-japanese-freaks would think you're a pervert?
Ah anohter thing that came to my mind... I guess japanese girls are so much used to all perverted men there that they'd find taking pictures rather innocent _________________

yeah, i figure it depends on what the situation is in taking a photo of a pretty j-girl/s in public. I didn't gather up the courage my last visit, but i think this time around is going to be different. Yeah, i have the words down, and know a few phrases in Japanese, plan on learning a few more to communicate. What wards/districts do you recommend as a better place to view in Tokyo? Shibuya? Roponggi? Yeap, going to Tokyo first, and part of the trip in Kyoto. How is Osaka?

so you visiting japan as well? how much did you get your airfare? i think that is the peak season when you are going and the hottest. I went there a few years ago late June/early July, very warm/hot and humid. That is over a month, what are you going to be doing there, just sightseeing?
I am going in two weeks, and visiting for about a week in Tokyo/Kyoto.
Yeah thinking of taking lots of pictures, and buying another memory stick. Nah, not a perv, going to just take regular pix, i would'nt want to get a slap in the face by a pretty girl. So, all the pix will be innocent. How many pix do you plan on taking? what places do you plan on visiting in Tokyo?

Hmm I'm still choosing between going to Tokyo or Osaka. Since my 'home' will be in Nagoya, Osaka is much closer therefor easier to visit. Tokyo seems to be so awesome I really want to go there, but other people told me Tokyo is just like Osaka, but way bigger. _________________

You mean what my ticketprice was? Ofcourse that depends from where you live. I live in the netherlands, and I choose a plane from Düsseldorf (Germany) which then flies to Paris. Then it goes to Nagoya airport. Price just below €1000 (retour). On the way back it goes to Narita airpotr before crossing the continents. I could have taken a flight from Amsterdam (Netherlands) but it saves me money if I take a train to Düsseldorf instead and leave from there.
Anyway as I said in my previous post, I don't know if i'm going to Tokyo yet, but I probably will, since some girl I know is going to be there during my visit. When I am in Tokyo I'd visit Harajuku probably and some other districts my friends will advise me on. I don't know much about all the districts actually so I'll get my self informed over the time remaining.
As for pictures, I currently have 2 memorycards of 128 mb, but I'm already worried I'd have filled them up after 1 week. The best thing would be having a computer to upload the pics or email them, then deleting it from the camera. There's also some option to let the pictures be burned on cd in photo-copy shops, but usually its not very cheap. And if you have only small Memory cards, this cd burning is not so price-efficient (unless you pay per photo). Hopefully those memory cards are not that expensive in Japan, so If I'm out of mem. I just buy some new. Too bad I don't have a videocamera though
[EDIT] Do you know the exact dates of your visit already? [/EDIT] _________________

Hey guy you gotta visit both! Shibuya & Roppongi are hella close to one another. They're like only 15/20 minutes apart, requiring only one transfer at Ebisu Station I believe. I think iln Shibuya you'll find many younger women (and men) and Roppongi should sport an older crowd. You have to visit both areas...no trip to Tokyo would be complete. I haven't been to Kyoto...maybe next time...
I have to throw this out...just to be real. I don't know what your presuppositions are re: women there but let's remember that Tokyo is one of the most crowded cities in the world, out of all those ppl there are going to be lots of women that are UNattractive and i think a much smaller number of attractive women....much smaller. Don't get me wrong I'm not hatin' on Japanese women....i think some of them are hot as hell, dayem fine, you name it. But you have to realistic -- that's not going to be the majority...not even close...let's remember all these gorgeous women you see in these dramas would be considered rare gems in any country...japan is NO exception.

haha, thats funny, with the 'home'. My 'home' would be okinawa. but well be in nagoya for a week, then on to osaka/kyoto for 2 weeks, all within may 25 to june 10. _________________
Now you haven't mentioned otherwise, but you might consider getting the Japan Rail Pass, especially if you will be travelling to and from Osaka and Tokyo. And in Tokyo, it'll be useful travelling on the Yamanote (green) line, which circles the city.
