I'm reading the Hellsing manga Yeah . I bought all the volumes like 2 years ago but during that time, the anime version was released, so I watched it first and lost my will to read this Beaten . But most people say that the story in the anime wasn't exactly the same as the one in the manga. So, out of curiousity, I'm gonna read this one hehe

After watching the HYD drama I went to buy the manga just to see the differences.....and so far...the differences aren't that big.....the characters hair style is a bit different in the drama....by picking Matsu Jun to play Domyoji they made the character look better Sweat

Some of the events that took place, the drama made it a little different but the things that happen still the same...and the drama did leave out a tiny bit of stuff, but still good Mr Green

yeahh its supposed to be seven total cuz thats how many years he's in the school of hogwarts... but i dunno, with all of the popularity i wonder if the seventh really will still be... the seventh only...

(i read a trilogy before, in the fantasy genre, and it soon became like... a... i dont even know... i mean i think now its still a trilogy but theres lots of side books... at least more than three extra books... haha so its like doubled at least... just cuz it was really popular... i still think those books were her best so im glad she wrote more Sweat)

as for rowling's writing (hehe back to hp!), i think with each one, it gets more complex and whatever- i remember someone telling me that with each year as harry gets older, the language also gets more complex because its like he's growing up.. dunno if thats actually why or if her writing is simply developing...

and for the sixth book being bad and only to make money, i dunno, it was just an opinion of some friends and i havent yet read it so... i cant really judge. ^^ im only a few chapters in right now Smile

ahhh ive gotta agree w/that... well with jun making domyouji look better than he is in the manga... hehe but then again i would, i guess...

Smile ive only read some of the manga but i think that they left out a LOT... which is kinda good, kinda bad.. i mean it wouldve dragged on and on if they put in everything, like meteor garden... but then its kinda sad how short they cut it and how they did skip right to the end... interesting how they added some facets that meteor garden didnt tho, even tho meteor garden followed the manga uber closely... Crazy

Yea, I feel the same way. If they leave out a lot, we missing out, like seeing how the actors would've acted out certain scene from the manga and stuff. I also feel if they didn't leave stuff out, it would drag on and if they follow the manga too closely, it wouldn't be anything special Sweat

I think the drama should've been at least 12 Eps like how GTO was.

OH well.....going to continue buying the manga, its pretty good. Reading it reminds me a lot of the drama so far since I've only read up to vol.3 Beaten

yeah.. i feel like i dunno, 9 was too short, and do we know that they really do love each other in the end? cuz compared to the manga and MG... its like... they didnt sustain as many trials and whatnot.. but otherwise itwouldve dragged... so oh well Sweat

i agree, 12 wouldve been really realy nice... i guess it was just so last minute that they couldnt... Shameful Cry

anyway, enjoy the manga!! ahh yes i remember, in the first few eps of HYD, they def follow it closely... Bleah i had no idea how they would be able to end in only 9 eps if they followed the beginning like that.. but i guess the foundation was necessary... and hey they did it... hehe i should read more too... Smile the manga IS really good... but harry potter has got me addicted now Bleah

I've been reading Nihongi, but I'm not going to have a whole lot of time to get out of the "age of the gods".

PostPosted: Tue Jan 31, 2006 6:40 am    Post subject: "Cell" Reply with quote Back to top

I normally don't read too much fiction nowadays, but, I just started reading Stephen King's Cell (not to be confused with the Kim Basinger movie Cellular from 2004). A King aficionado I know thinks his works in the last few years haven't been as good as his Salem's Lots or his Cujos or his Carries. Shocked
[POSSIBLE CELL SPOILERS AHEAD, even though I'm only at the very beginning of the book.] Shocked

But, Cell has started off with an interesting premise (again, I'll clarify that this is a novel I'm reading) -- On October 1, an apparent electronic pulse or signal called to cellular phones (worldwide, I think; like I said, I just started the novel); a signal that turns the answerer into a raging berserker, if you will. If you need a visual, think of the zombies in Dawn of the Dead or likeness thereof. Must've been King's intention or homage -- I know it sounds like some B horror movie plot, but, if King's written dedication at the beginning of the book, in part, to a certain zombie horror film director is any indication, the book's a homage, in part.

The rationale suggesting that landline phones are safe in this King of Horror novel's lastest I'm sorta' not buying yet, but, maybe will become more evident to me as I read along.

Gonna be interesting to see if King manages to explain whether the pulse managed to trigger some cellphones' voicemail, picking up and isolating the signal or whatnot.

The read overall is pretty good, so far as most popular novels go. The across-the-board chaos in the city (the protagonist in the book, a graphic artist who just sold two of his own works for a good sum, doesn't have a cell phone on him at the time of the incident; oddly enough, the dustjacket also indicates that King himself does not own a cell' phone, so, I can imagine I'll see more of King's "commentary," subliminal or otherwise, on the device as I go on reading. Also, it seems King didn't only intend Cell as a zombie movie homage, eh?) is shocking, at times funny. You seem to feel the fear of those unaffected by "the pulse." I'm at the part where the main character, Clay, and the few unaffected others are holed up in a hotel, debating whether to venture out of the city (Boston, in this case). Can only get more and more horrific is why I wish to see the end of this -- the other, however few, books I've read written by King didn't seem to have any happy endings.

I remember reading -- and being captivated and enthralled -- with King's Misery; and I read that way before the James Caan movie. Yeah, King can really keep your attention.

Just finished with Everyone Worth Knowing by Lauren Weisberger..

One of those shallow reads. Devil Wears Prada was slightly humorous. This suffers from the sequel syndrome.

I feel like I just read an issue of US/People/In Touch Magazine
