Oh Yeah, I know it's a medical dorama, but I was just saying that no one has even voted for it. However, it's still early in the year, and when someone uploads it, we'll be able to see it. But for the moment... Bang Head

The awards are right. Iryu deserved #1 because all the other ones are just above average, mediocre, or just bad.

I thought Aibu Saki would get best supporting actress instead of Horikita Maki.

there's the full list at d-addicts thread -> http://d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_37596.htm

best drama, in order of ranking
#1 Iryu Team Medical Dragon
#2 Kurosagi
#3 Bengoshi no Kuzu
#4 Busu no Hitomi ni Koishiteru
#5 Machiben

i watched all the top 5 dramas in their entirety and i kinda agree with the awards.. though i think bengoshi no kuzu should be #2, instead of kurosagi
imo, iryu really deserves the top spot and the best music award.. an incredible drama with the best OST ever

I've shared this drama with few of my friends and those who didn't like it only watched the first episode and declare it as boring and serious medical drama with no pretty actors/actresses

try giving it a chance and watch at least 2 episodes before rating it as a boring drama, you may find a gem in this drama

on a sidenote, in the recent separate oricon ranking award, iryu won the most satisfying drama award for the spring 2006 season with a large margin
http://www.tokyograph.com/news/id-35
http://www.oricon.co.jp/news/confidence/27309/

i think 83.2% satisfaction rating for iryu is insanely high(though really well deserved)... the only drama i knew that came close to it was 1 Litre of Tears(83.3% satisfaction rating, which is still the highest rating overall.. by 0.1%)

edit: btw, im part of the iryu english subbing team.. head here if you need english subs -> http://d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_36145.htm
the AVIs can be downloaded off d-addicts tracker

Hi Everyone!!

I am new here and this is my first post. I've just couldnt leave it when people are bashing "Iryu" just because they dont enjoy it.

Iryu or Team Medical Dragon deserved to be the best in Japan do you guys know why?? Do U know know that almost 3/4 Japanese read manga in some point of their life (This is base on statistic). And this drama is actually an adaptation from manga series (Which i enjoy a lot).

Well basically if u ever read this manga previously and happen to watch the drama now, then only you would understand why its receive the award and got the oricon rank is with high margin.

From the storyline and the casting its simply amazing like looking at manga given a life to move. That is how accurate the adaptation.

If anyone doubt about this can check out this link and try to download some chapter to verify.

http://www.tidwah.net/index.php?dir=Team_Medical_Dragon%5Bnexgear%5D/

Of course if you are talking about realistic and accuracy of the action during surgery then might as well go and watch discovery channel or watch some CSI episode.

Anyway enjoy the drama!!

Welcome to the forum! I'd like to establish ground by saying that I love "Iryu", and both Inamori Izumi and Mizukawa Asami were adorable. Whoever said 'Iryu' a serious medical drama with no chick need to pay their opticians a visit.

Having said that I can understand why 'Iryu' did not receive the accolades it deserved in this forum - simply put we 'live' amongst a larger population of fan-girls (and boys), and the only object of their desire in this drama was probably Koike Teppei, who acted like a silly jerk for most part of this drama.

I've never read the manga but it is just as well - I want to judge 'Iryu' as a dorama on its own, and not as an adaptation of a manga. From what I understand the medical procedures were largely correct, just being performed at an unrealistically high speed. But the essense of a drama is the element of fantasy. Without that, as you put so elegantly, we may as well all switch over to the Discovery Channel and watch Chimpanzees mate. hehe

Do come often and post your opinions. As long as you respect the opinions of others we'll all get along fine.

i've watched #1, 2, and most of 4 and i have to agree with Iryu's rank. Iryu is definitely a very satisfying dorama with a strong storyline. the casting was very well done and certainly far better than the likes of kurosagi (which, even without having seen #3 and 5, i don't think deserves to be up there)

few things abt iryu:
I was given a self-burnt dvd of this drama from a friend weeks ago, but never got around watching it until I was bored 3 days ago
and im so glad i watched this, the previous drama i watched was kurosagi which is a disappointing-waste-of-time-with-lousy-ending drama

well, for iryu:
by the end of the first episode, i was hooked
end of 2nd episode, Shameful Cry
by the 6th episode, i really thought the drama had reached its peak exciting point of the storyline..
yah well i was wrong, the 8th episode blows me away with more superb scenes
ep 10-11 was a rollercoaster ride with more twists and drama, before building up to the best final episode in drama history

the magic in this drama is how the drama-writers got it right, every episode was better than the last
just when i thought it couldn't get any better, it surpasses my expectation at the next episode, building up climax right up to the final moments of the drama

at the end of it all:
total time watched: 3 days (14 hours+)
scenes skipped: zero
boring scenes: zero
entertainment factor: 95/100 (way too exciting, -5 cos no hot females in the show)
best final episode ever: YES
satisfactory drama: YES (except that the drama finally ends)
best soundtrack ever: A++
best drama ever: HELL YEAH!!!

and to the people who give negative replies to this drama, watch it first before bashing it

I watched Iryu, Kurosagi and Top Caster for the previous season.

Iryu definately >>>>> Kurosagi

though YamaP was HOT. Maki chan ain't bad either. Just cannot compete with more 'experienced' actors such as Sakaguchi Kenji and Inamori Izumi =x The ost was awesome~

As for Top Caster, the acting was good, just the storyline too predictable. As usual great performance by Amami Yuki Mr Green

Hello! I'm a newbie to this forum. Big Grin I'd like to ask whether Yoshitsune won any awards? I just recently got introduced to Japanese dramas and this is one of the first few dramas that I got the opportunity to watch. If any one can answer my query, I'd appreciate it. Thanx!

Do you have the full results? You have the placings for Best Dorama, what about other categories? This is for The Television, right?

Abe Hiroshi deserved best actor. I consider him one of the best actors in the Japanese industry, behind Watanabe Ken.

I was surprised that Sawajiri Erika didn't win it this time, but she did get a close 2nd. But then it does make sense that Natsukawa Yui got that award.

The best dramas overall are in the right order. Suppli was just terrible. KDO and MBMH being 1st and 2nd respectively was the right choice.

14 sai no haha should be #1 next time, but we'll see how the story goes and other dramas as well.

This is the first time I post, hajimemashite minna-san w00t!

Regarding the award, quite surprised myself Erika's got the supporting actress award for TNU. She's briliant in 1 Litre of Tears IMO. Shud at least got nominated for leading actor for that drama, instead of TNU. Or I'm in the wrong nomination year? Bonk

Anyway, congrats for the winners. Omedetto Gozaimasu!

Hey hitobaka

The years are different. I was just saying that Erika was the main female lead in TNU, so why was she given a supporting nom? Shake Head
