WOW, they finally picked the final design? I'm SO behind! I do like the design this time, it's very interesting and would look cool in the skyline Naughty

I'll NEVER forget the next time I went to NYC after 9/11. The skyline looked so weird and naked. It was never the same. It looked like a huge empty spot in the sky. I was so used to knowing where I was and how close to the city I was by seeing the towers. I never got to go in and visit the trade center, but I guess since NYC is only 2 hours or so north of me, I put it off and regret that Shake Head

Wow! that's great they finally picked a design!

I remember that fateful day...it was like time stopped.

I was a freshman in college maybe in my 2nd week when this happened. I remember that day clearly..waking up getting ready to go to class...then hearing about it..and seeing the smoke from the 1st tower frlom the 9th floor lounge after it got hit...a real shock....i started my way back to class and called my mom to tell her i was ok....class was empty so i went back..and saw it..the most horrifying thing i will ever see....a black shadow of smoke over the horizon of the sky-line darting toward the vicinity of the towers...i was wtf? this must be my eyes playing tricks on me.....but it wasn't..the shadow dissappeared into the building....i couldn't take my eyes off of it....

Everything after that is history....wacthing the second plane hit....watching the towers fall one by one was horrifying...i could barely see anything from the safely about 10 miles away..but it felt like i was right there...the smoke..the dust...the same that has alwasy been there skyline was gone...it was like the sun didn't shine that morning....the sky-line was gone..and everyone started crying....ever since that moment i never gave a thought to death...i was never close to anything that big...but it hit me not even a second after..that people died...DIED! I worried for not only my cousin who lived in NY but for everyone who was there...for everyone around me....I could say that at that one point in my stupid short existence i cared for something other then myself...and i held the person next to me that was crying

watching the news all day..i never saw so much news..i saw the replays so many times...it's burned...burned into my memory....

My generation never had any wars..or anything to live through..now we have this....as horrible as this was..this was a wake up call to everyone living comfortably..that nothing is as calm as can be, not forever anyway....

Thanks guys for your input!

I was hoping to get more responses from Americans (or anyone else who has input) about this. So more responses are welcome!

If any American on this board don't give a shit about what happened, then FUCK YOU!!!!!!! Bleah Devil Beat You Boxing Angry
You shouldn't be "allowed" to live in America since you don't give a shit about it anyway. You all can "chill" with Bin Laden in Afganistan and wait for our soldiers to catch you and kick your ass! Perhaps some of you "snuck" into America as illegal immigrants??!!!! HA!

Well, what happened was really bad, no doubt about it. I used to work at Two Financial Plaza for a while and of course a loss of "Twins" was a big blow. I was at Ocean Grove at that time (Jersey coast), and I could literally smell the fuel fumes from that far. City was in lock-down state for at least two days. I couldn't get out. No doubt, Bin Laden should be captured, dead or alive and his co-conspirators. Liberty rules!

I'm not American, but that still doesn't mean I can't post on this thread...... Anyways, glad to see that they finally settled on a design for the new building to replace the WTC. Although, I'm not sure how it will look, I still feel that nothing can replace the skyline of what NYC once was with the two grand twin towers standing side by side. There is no doubt that 9/11 was a terrible thing and ultimately changed the security of the world, hopefully, this new building will look nice.

Yes, I remember where I was when 9/11 occurred. In class and then seeing the event on TV, was quite a profound surprise and shock. Then again, that whole day was one of shock and panic, moreso than any other day that I could remember, or at least not since the early 90s. Good for NYC and America, in reference to the new building.

I wish them the best of luck.

i wonder if they are gonna have some sort of memorial in here in dc. i was smack dab in the middle of dc when that the pentagon was hit, actually, 2 miles away, and this place was a mad house, so i can imagine what NY was like. Good job with the design, i'll prolly visit it on my way up to see my kin whenever it's up.

BTW, kouseiya, didn't realize that you lived in ben franklin country...

Somehow I missed this thread, Aho. Gomen nasai.

That's a really nice design... Simple and understated, but quite elegant: Applaud

No apologies necessary. My anger was directed at some Americans who "forgot" this whole 9-11 thing ever happened and just don't give a shit about it anymore.
I E-mailed this to someone I knew. I then asked for an opinion about it. That ass replied to me like, "I can't beleive that all this hype about the 9-11 thing is still going on. Gosh, it's been almost 3 years since it happened. Oh. It's cool but nothing special."

Angry Angry Angry

As you all know me and how I am, I "kicked his butt" in a reply comment and left him for dead. Then I took his name off of my mail list and severed all means of contact with that jerk.

I like the part with the 2 "holes" in the ground.

In essence, it's like a statement saying that the 2 towers could NEVER be replaced after such an incident but will always be in our memories.

Yep, born, raised, and still living in Philadelphia. On 9/11, I didn't leave my house because I thought we could be next. I think we are the most major city between NYC and DC. I don't know if we have anything they'd want to destroy, but I was like "oh $hit, I'm not going anywhere!". My school was open that morning but I said "f*** that!". We don't have any buildings like WTC, Pentagon, or Sears Tower....so I am not sure if they would mess with us Sweat But we have a lot of historical stuff here which would be horrible to be lost (Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, etc). A lot of people in my school have family in NYC. A girl in my stats class at the time, her uncle was the fire chief who got killed in one of the towers. It's all so scary and f***ed up. Shake Head

I just wanted to say that I have had the honor to have personally worked with the man that took this very famous picture that day

Taken by Thomas E. Franklin of the Bergen Record

I used to work at that newspaper as an Intern and I gave him a call after the fact...he told me he was never as scared for his life...

As for that day...well you see my feelings on my post above...i can definately go on more but it's really too hard cause it hurts to think about it Sad
