From Yahoo! News:

UN halts aid to Myanmar after junta seizes supplies

YANGON, Myanmar - Myanmar's junta seized U.N. aid shipments headed for hungry and homeless survivors of last week's devastating cyclone, prompting the world body to suspend further help on Friday.

The U.N. said the aid included 38 tons of high-energy biscuits and arrived in Myanmar on Friday on two flights from Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates.

"All of the food aid and equipment that we managed to get in has been confiscated," U.N. World Food Program spokesman Paul Risley said. "For the time being, we have no choice but to end further efforts to bring critical needed food aid into Myanmar at this time."

I read that....the UN should just go in there, f*ck the gov't and start dropping aid from aircraft...what the f*ck does that gov't have left to rule anyway...the whole country is one big pile of crap now....

It's like somebody saying you are the king of your castle..and then somebody hands you a plate of dog shit and says, "Here's your castle."

Like what's going to happen....the Burmese government is going to retaliate with its steath bombers and tactical nuclear weapons....

Since they are controlling everything, they make sure it feels like the army is giving people food. After the army is well fed of course. The same crap happens in North Korea. =T

The UN should airdrop food and guns. Shoot

That would be ubercool!!! Victory! Peace!
Unfortunately you would be killed immediately but at least you´d die an heroic death.

I think the last Rambo movie was about just that. You better start taking steroids and ask krim to equip you. Bleah

It's really nice to know they are moving forward with democracy with a national referendum on a new constitution on Saturday. Rolling eyes I'll give you food, if you shut up and give me more power.

New Internet connection to Anime Dad's House from Cori's computer

Australia's 5,500-mile Internet connection
April 9, 2008 7:09 AM PDT

Installing an Internet connection can be difficult--especially if the cable is about 9,000 kilometers (5,580 miles) long and very deep underwater.

The Ile de Sein is a massive ship that sports a crew of 60, who work in shifts to lay cable 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The cable that runs between Australian and Hawaii isn't straight; it needs to run around undersea mountains and past crevasses, as well as follow the rugged terrain of the sea floor.

Many months of planning were involved in plotting the best undersea route for the cable. A member of the project commented that the undersea cables can reach depths of 5,000 meters (3 miles) or more.

Telstra expects the cable to be active by the fourth quarter this year. Bandwidth on the cable will be available to both Telstra retail and wholesale customers.
