^^ Honestly, I believe he gave his best performance in "Nobuta wo Produce"- I haven't seen him do as well since.
Are people actually throwing around "he should get an award!" already? I find his character to be the most irritating of the main cast.
But then again they gave an award to Akanishi Jin for Yukan Club... |

I watched the first episode last night, and I have to say I'm not too high on this drama, but the potential is there. My worry is that we'll just get situations where each of the four have to overcome whatever obstacles are in their way, which could be milked for a few episodes. The underdogs overcoming the odds. I don't mind that too much, but I just hope there's more to come. _________________

Meh... I'm not too convinced. When I see a surgeon washing his hands and then using the brush, which is only to be used for the fingernails, on his arms... then I wonder what idiot taught them that. The nurse who taught me how to wash yourself sterile would scream murder and hang whoever's responsible. A brush will cause micro lesions on the skin (with that the skin is open, congrats, you've created and entry and exit point in your skin, thus the sterilzed area will not stay sterile for longer than 10 seconds), thus every single surgeon, every single surgical nurse I know uses it only for the fingernails (as a fact, you get that drilled into your skull in your second year if you're trying to become a nurse, at least around here; and you'll fail the exam for "surgical care" if you make that mistake).
And the guy who got trapped in those steel rollers. Oh boy... check the pulse at the hand, yeah, right. Everyone with training knows that the distal pulse is not enough (it might actually lead you to wrong conclusions). Arteria carotis, that's where you check... and then check the squeezed arm if it even has a pulse.
Whoever wrote the script is a total noob when it comes to medical things. And frankly, I'm sick and tired of such writers. Mistake after mistake. Worse yet, most of the mistakes written in those scripts would actually kill people (take Around 40, in the scene where they find the mother of the silent boy on the ground, Amami Yuki would have killed that women with her actions; hyperextension of the neck without making sure that the upper airways are clear? Thank you for endangering the patient, exam failed. Please don't come again, you're too dumb to get even the most basic things right.)

Call me nitpicky, but it's the little details that bring the authenticy. And the medical knowledge employed in episode 1 is baywatch niveau (which was... horrible).
Maybe episode 2 will be better. Though I doubt it. Can't wait to see the "Top 10 Misconceptions of CPR" to be presented as "this is how you do it".
On the good side... nice to see a NOTAR. That's the chopper. It's a NOTAR. No Tail Rotor. Usually choppers with one main rotor have a tail rotor to compensate for the yaw. Except CH-47s and Russian ones (they have two main rotors, one rotating clockwise, the other counter-clockwise). The NOTAR has small jets in the tail for that. Though, that makes me wonder, why would a civilian hospital use a NOTAR? NOTARs are useful only for the military, since you can stick the tail into bushes without having to fear any damage to the tail rotor. Makes it easier to hide the bird. I'd say for a civvie hospital a normal chopper with two rotors would be cheaper (and those are expensive enough anyway). _________________

WOW!!! This drama must scream FAIL then with such a young looking cast. You must have a laugh watching any medical related dramas with your many years of experience. Just wondering, what medical dramas would you say was somewhat realistic?
Nice info on the NOTAR. They should've renamed the show to Code Blue Thunder. |

I agree to everything 8thsin said earlier. Flame/attack me all you want, but Yamapi's acting is not that great...and I've watched many of his dramas. Why do I continue to watch dramas' with him? Well it simply because i want to see the story/other members of the cast in the particular drama. I also want to see if he will improve and somewhat deserves all the praise from his fans...but so far he has been disappointing. He was ok in proposal though.
Does commenting on his performance mean I think I can do a better job? OF COURSE NOT! I am not an actor, but I AM a viewer. I think everyone is entitled to their opinion. I am not a fan but I don't hate him or anything and I actually think he's handsome, but that doesn't mean I have to swoon over him and everything he does.
Good ratings does not always equal good story.....and it seems like Code Blue is the case. I really hope the next episode will be better and not just rely on the good looks of the idols. |

The Gokusen (AKA The JE Boys Showcase) series can attest to that. _________________

| hahaha, ya, because they stuff it with idols! I guess good looking idols are extremely powerful. It saddens me to see other dramas with better plot to get a lower ratings...sigh |

Damn. While I certainly can't tell what's authentic or not in terms of medical procedures, you make it sound like the drama's already an epic failure just one episode in. Then again, it looks to be an idol-driven drama, so I would assume the medical stuff is just secondary to help create drama or suspense. _________________

I think so in this case. Let's say Ito Atsushi (Densha Otoko) was casted instead of Yamapi. I don't think the 1st Ep would've broke 20%. |

Considering it's only one episode in, I will say yes, it's the cast that is helping the ratings at this point. When you have someone like Yamapi, along with Aragaki Yui and Erika Toda, I definitely would say there would be a strong interest. It's not exactly a bad thing at this point, just provided the rest of the drama turns out well. As for plot, I sure as hell hope there will be a good plot. I'm not following this drama hoping it'll stink up the joint like Last Friends. A medical drama is interesting to me, so I'd like to see how this one fares, and I certainly hope for the best. _________________
