Jun's summer 2008 drama special thread: http://www.jdorama.com/viewtopic.11429.htm
"Myuu no Anyo Papa ni Ageru" (I will give papa Myuu's legs)
Co-starring Karina (from Bambino!)
... with a 2yr old daughter.. a papa..
Yey One Love!
I also heard they'll be announcing Japan Olympic song by Arashi tomorow at ZOOM-in. Still not confirmed. Does this mean they'll be singing at Beijing?
Seems like Arashi got full support from the government of Japan. "Green" (which was written by the members of Arashi themselves) is highlighted as an Eco song at a website published by the the Prime Minister department. They posted the lyrics for it eventhough the song wasn't released officially. I think they are preparing Sakurai Sho to run for cabinet or something. (don't be aluded by the dirty politicians sho-kun... stay aaway.. not yet..)
Can I say they are the BEST group in Japan right now? Right up there with SMAP. _________________

Matsujun to star in "24 Hour Television" drama
Arashi member Jun Matsumoto will star in a drama special that is being broadcast as part of NTV's charity program "24 Hour Television." Titled "Myu no Anyo, Papa ni Ageru," the drama will air on August 30.
The drama is based on a true story about a young man (played by Matsumoto) who learns he has a rare illness known as CIDP, which affects the nervous system. He begins to lose the functioning of his limbs, but he is determined to fight the illness with the support of his wife (Karina) and his 2-year-old daughter, Myu-chan.
Matsumoto, along with the rest of Arashi and actress Yukie Nakama, has already been announced as a host for "24 Hour Television," scheduled for August 30-31.

LOL maybe not on par with SMAP! They could be when Himitsu no Arashi-chan hits the kind of 18%-20% of rating like SMAPxSMAP, or having million sellers in the case of Sekai ni...(2 million to be exact), Yozora no Mukou or Lion Heart, or having ALL 5 members consistently in the Top10 of favourite men polls.
Mada mada da ne...Their time will come I'm sure, maybe not now. _________________

so that means KAT-TUN is at par with SMAP then? _________________

No way! Besides Akame, I've never seen any of the other's names in polls at the top, and their TV show sucks in rating (only about 4-5% per episode). _________________

well... Japan love those Akakame .. and they are kinda hot... well.. hoter than Kusanagi or Goro... but that's besides the point. Being on An-An top ranks of most wanted men doesn't equate to being the best group imo, its still an individual race to get into that top ten list right? Consistent or otherwise.
I thought Real Face already reached 2million sales or maybe will reach that number soon. i don't keep track of kattun's numbers so i'm not sure myself.4-5% ratings? Why did they get all the cool guest?? i want Hyde to be guest in Shukudai-kun or Himitsu too.. however, Yukan Club got high ratings right?
However ratings wise, Arashi Odoroki special reached 17% i think and the TFP2 appearance reached 19.7% (but that was only guest appearance). My assumption for Arashi being a great group as SMAP was because of their credibilities. All excelled individually and as a group. If figures mattered than it'll be their concerts but even I don't have the exact figures to compare . Kanjani8 too had done impressively with their 47con. The only difference for Arashi are they had done the Asia tour AND not forgetting the coming National Stadium Concert which only them, SMAP & Dreams Come True had the chance to perform there.
As a group I have to say they are highly regarded by the media also the industry members young or respected veterans alike. The praises are overwhelming and I think that's why the government took notice of them. They are just a wholesome well liked group imho. So right now, they are the top but not as legendary as SMAP... yet _________________

Well, for a group who literally have achieved high success in EVERYTHING, it would be hard to surpass SMAP, is all I wanna say. When KAT-TUN got their million-seller in Real Face, everybody thinks that they're gonna be the next SMAP (and I beg to differ!). And now Arashi only have like 20% of what SMAP have achieved in their 10 years since debut, and people think it's Arashi next. Maybe next year the status will move to another group, who knows? Maybe before getting to SMAP level, maybe everybody in JE should try for KinKi Kids' position instead, trying to beat their Guiness World Book of Records, that is. _________________

Actually, the tentative date was 27 August, but they appear to be released one week earlier this time. So 20 Aug is the official date. _________________

Arashi provides another Olympic theme song
Thu, July 10, 2008 (1:45am EDT)
With Sho Sakurai having been appointed as the main caster for NTV's broadcast of the Olympic Games, it comes as no surprise that Arashi has been chosen to provide the theme song for the network's Olympic coverage. This will actually be their second Olympic song, as "Hero" was used by NTV for the 2004 Games in Athens.
Their new tune is titled "Kaze no Mukou e" and will be released on August 20.

at first i really thought that Sho will be having a series.. _________________

hmm.. but i thought Arashi had achieved about now is 70% of SMAP had done prior to their 10th anniversary. i'm too lazy to list them down though :p
btw, Yozora no Mukou was released in 2001 right? That's the single that hit 1million first I think which was released on their 10th anniv. After Sekai (2003) was when SMAP really became a legend. That's 2 years after their 10th anniversary. Technically Arashi might've achieved almost the same amount of glory as SMAP as they are getting closer to their 10th anni. but that's just me being nit-picky
- LOL. no offense but I find it funny that it seems like a sin to ever mention that a group MIGHT surpass SMAP's glory according to you. and I was just opening it as a question rather than a statement. I didn't even suggested that they'll be surpassing SMAP just, PRESENTLY they are as notable as SMAP. Sorry to have misslead you . SMAP will always be legendary that's why there will always be comparisson by the fans. Everyone wants to be as successful as SMAP but not necessarrily be exactly like them. Its a compliment yo~
EDIT: whoaaa.. look what I found at fybabe's: http://fybabe.blog96.fc2.com/blog-entry-631.html. it seems like it is taboo subject. even the fans don't want them to cross the senpai line yet. never knew that before. its not like SMAP / or Takuya be any less of a legend with others gaining on the rankings
aa~aaah~
they are really busy this year _________________

That was just a rumour and a tentative release date, like WD said. Since they were singing the theme song for Ohno's currently airing drama (Truth) and they performed a new song on their tour (Green) everyone assumed those two songs would be in the upcoming single, but as you can see they're not XDD
What I posted is official information, there ain't no Arashi single release on the 27th~ _________________
