Apparently discussing global hunger is a tough job....check out menu at the G8 Summit being held in Hokkaido, Japan.

Summit that's hard to swallow - world leaders enjoy 18-course banquet as they discuss how to solve global food crisis

Just two days ago, Gordon Brown was urging us all to stop wasting food and combat rising prices and a global shortage of provisions.
But yesterday the Prime Minister and other world leaders sat down to an 18-course gastronomic extravaganza at a G8 summit in Japan, which is focusing on the food crisis.
The dinner, and a six-course lunch, at the summit of leading industrialised nations on the island of Hokkaido, included delicacies such as caviar, milkfed lamb, sea urchin and tuna, with champagne and wines flown in from Europe and the U.S.

But the extravagance of the menus drew disapproval from critics who thought it hypocritical to produce such a lavish meal when world food supplies are under threat.
On Sunday, Mr Brown called for prudence and thrift in our kitchens, after a Government report concluded that 4.1million tonnes of food was being wasted by householders.
He suggested we could save up to 8 pounds a week by making our shopping go further. It was vital to reduce 'unnecessary demand' for food, he said.
Last night's dinner menu was created by Katsuhiro Nakamura, the first Japanese chef to win a Michelin star. It was themed: Hokkaido, blessings of the earth and the sea.

There's no mention of a complimentary stomach pump, though.
i just had pizza (the whole medium size for myself total weight gain), it was Pizza Hut's. and it was actually one one of the weirdest thing ever. It's a new topping called Peking gold-something, probably because of the whole olympics thing.
and the topping was: duck, duck sauce, cucumber, peach, mayonnaise, and mashed potatoes
lol. i was wondering, is it also available where you guys live? craziest pizza. korean bulgogi and prawn tenpura wasn't that strange, and peach&duck was okay but with cucumber, mashed potatoes, and mayo is just _________________

Man, that ain't a pizza.
The weirdest thing i've seen is satay chicken on a pizza. That's just so wrong _________________

They stole that from CPK (California Pizza Kitchen): they were offering the Peking Duck pizza back in the 80's... Before Pizza Hut even knew what Peking Duck was... _________________

I´m going to a Japanese restaurant later tonight and since I had been to one very disappointing one last week I checked out the online reviews! They are very positive so I am really really looking forward.

I never seen it around here, in L.A. I've heard about it and seen it dozens of times in photos and Japanese dramas....it's like Japanese yoshoku were they take foreign dishes and adapt it to the Japanese palette.
I bet it's good...but then again if you really fancy Mexican food, L.A. is not a bad place to be since we have one of the highest concentrations of Mexicans and Mexican-Americans in the country.

Good luck! Hope you have a good meal.
Thanks it was really good and authentic - I had everything I craved: Asahi beer, edamame, tempura, sushi, braised eggplant in miso, udon with fried thin tofu, gyozas, katsu don ...
I feel really full but my cravings are satisfied for a while now.
