Actually, Baron took a paycut by signing with the Clips ... $13M/year for 5, relinquishing the $18M/year if he had stayed with W's.
To us laymen ... it's still muchos money ... but in NBA terms, it was more like a donation to the Clippers since he could've tested the market next year.

Is being a Clippers fan analogous to being a 2nd-class citizen in LA?
Like the football Jets playing in Giants Stadium .... it must really suck when your home building is really someone else's. |

I agree, it's a major shame. At least Seattle got to keep its team name, colors, and history ... so there fortunately will be no "Oklahoma Sonics".
It still baffles me that a team in LA and Utah are called the Lakers and Jazz, respectively ... when it should've been reserved to Minnesota and N. Orleans all along. |

Name recognition. |
Of course, it's more marketable with certain existing names. But, it just seems silly and nonsensical to me that it's no longer the Minnesota Lakers or New Orleans Jazz. |

Hmm, how come you never liked Baron? I know Don Nelson had much to do with Davis emerging as a star, but the Warriors would not have been in the playoffs and pulled off that amazing upset over Dallas if it weren't for him.
Baron Davis is perhaps the main reason that GS is even relevant again in the NBA. |

More like 3rd or 4th class. Billy Crystal goes to a lot of Clippers games, but I don't think he's a fan, he's just looking for new material. |

Some NBA news:
Looks like Elton Brand is going to sign with the Philly Sixers (5 yrs for $82M). Basically, Brand would rather be accused as a liar (initially promising Baron Davis & Clippers that he'd return) than go back to LA's "other" NBA team.
Pouring salt on the wound ... Corey Maggette is leaving the Clips to play for the Warriors.
I guess the Clippers have just been relegated back to official status of "clown team" of the NBA. |

One minute you had the Clips as 'relevant' again, and now Baron Davis is back to being the token star on a bad team. That was some serious comedy right there, folks.
It does give Thornton a chance to own the position. Same with Kaman.
Still, that sequence was pretty funny. |

I'll miss Ronny, he always brings energy to the court and showing a lot of enthusiasm.
maybe it's a wise move to let Turiaf go. Turiaf won't play much minutes when Bynum is back and the Lakers could use that money to get Sasha Vujacic back. _________________
