Hi kat.

I just knew it was you!!! :-)

Autumn said you were going to get on here and post. I came to check and saw katwoman and knew it was you.

I am so refreshed to hear all the new compliments for Kimura san and his acting. I know he is gorgeous..you only have to see a photo and better yet..see a drama..but to hear more people rave about his acting does my heart good. I adore this man for so many years.

I think we may be a little disappointed with 'I Come with the Rain' I think Kimura will be playing a cameo even though his role is necessary for the plot. this is apparently a Josh Hartnet project. Can't say I know much about him and he is not really a huge number one star. I guess he is a good actor. I want to see how Kimura does in this whenever we get the chance to see it.
Keep posting batwoman.....

ja ne Peg

w00t! Peggy! An open forum. I'm taking my secret gushings public. Victory! Peace!

Hi t1n9...Yes, my 2nd reaction after pure delight at finding that gif was pure envy. Wouldn't it be nice to have Kimura san hug you and laugh with you?
Dang! Any sign of affection is fine. I'm not terribly greedy.

So which dramas have you watched thus far?

Hi fre3domlin. Thanks for uploading Kimura san's doramas on youtube.

Hi everyone, I'm an Kimura san Addict of one month. I've been gorging myself on his doramas and even went to see Love and Honor in the theaters when it came to town (Yes! Kimura san larger then life!). I'm not looking to sober up. I'm looking for fellow KAs who are happy being KA and want to gush and share the love.

I found this as I was trolling this thread. Does anyone know where I can find more of these BTS or NGs of Pride? I love this dorama and absolutely adore Aki and Haru.

Of course, I then got a bit jealous of Takeuchi san.

That's such a cute animation! They are very cute together in Pride (I'm watching it now - 4 eps in)

And seriously, Yuko is as adorable as they come.

That lovely hugging was the end party for PRIDE. He also gave huge hug to Kenji Sakaguchi. Everyone was in such a good mood. there is a video of this somewhere.

Also there was a video of the ending of GOOD LUCK and he and another actor carried leading lady off and dumped her and then found bags of what looked like popcorn or something and they proceeded to have a feast .... Just like kids out of school.

Love this super 'adult' gushing for Kimura san. Time he was given credit for making us all adore him of all ages. Dancing

Just going thru some old videos. the Western trips to the Four Corners. Been there so often and knew just what Kimura was seeing and feeling.

also I thought that during the 2008 Olympics song 'We are Friends' they could have used an old SMAP song....

Wherever we go

Whatever we do

We live in future

LET'S GET TOGETHER !!!!!!!!

Love that song.

Peg, You've been holding out on me. Please do find the video of the end party for PRIDE and GOOD LUCK.

I would love to see Kimura hug Kenji. Though, I think Haru and Tomo were my second fave couple in PRIDE Wink. It was so cute when Tomo offered to stay the nite w/him.

As for GOOD LUCK, in addition to Shinkai (given, yeh?), I heart Koda, too. I heard that our very strict and stoic Capn Koda is actually really loose and funny in the NGs.

Phlargo, You're watching PRIDE?!? I watched it in one day. I couldn't make myself stop...maybe a few restroom breaks...but who's counting? Do come back to rave or rant. I'm better at raving, but I can sorta listen to ranting too. :-)

As ya'll can tell...I just need to gush w/people about how awesome I find Kimura san. The extent of my wackiness?
#1 I watched PRIDE 4X now...IN JUST A MONTH. I won't go into how often I think about PRIDE. kekeke.
#2 I stopped in the middle of GOOD LUCK twice just to send a PM to Peg and our other KA pal to just gush about how dang handsome Shinkai looked in that specific episode. Especially the episode that he was doing his rehab. Yum.
#3 I am strangely attracted to Ryo in ONE MILLION STARS.
#4 I moped around for days in major disbelief after watching THE GRAND TRIBE.
#5 I find Kuryu's crooked teeth and ugly brown coat so adorable in HERO.

There's more. Sad, huh? Care to join me?

It's not strictly about having the perfect nose and deep eyes etc.

It's an aura of attraction and charisma which makes these people so popular. Sure, Kimura may not be the best straight-forward good looking, but he is handsome, his ability to carry himself and his aura and charisma is the defining point.

People like Nanako Matsushima may not be the hottest woman in the world, but her charisma and aura cannot be denied.

In American views, best looking literally means best looking, aka Brad Pitt, Jessica Alba types, while for Japan, beauty is more of a culmination and have a different view than them.

That's my 2 cents

aznkether,

Agree Agree Agree. matinee idols are two a penny and fade rapidly.

Kimura has been the favourite artist for Japan for twenty years,

that's TWENTY years. It can't all be publicity agents work. People just admire him for so many things.

When I think of English actors from the past, very few of them could be called handsome. they all have flaws which make them compelling and that is what is so true of Kimura san. He has magnetism which comes from within, and his outward appearance radiates his well placed self confidence as a person as well as an artist. He is not the usual 'six pack' brawny leading man. In fact he is slight and not anywhere near six feet. But when you see him in a scene he has the effect of being someone of great substance physically. He is not weak and since he is a very good kendo performer there is no fear. That is why he did such great fencing in Love and Honour. He even practised that with a blindfold and another fencer.
kat. I was watching part of his trip to the Four Corners today and he was with the Chief of the Apaches and went with some of the older men to gather sage for his initiation and spending the night in the 'smoke tent'. That is quite an ordeal any Native American goes through in order to be called a Brave and before he can ever be a warrior. This was some years ago when he was around twenty I think. Very eager to learn about Geronimo and everything of the American West. He was given the name 'Little Man'...having a much greater meaning than it sounds. I have great admiration for Kimura and the respect he showed to all the people who were his guides in the different Indian Nations. I just felt so sure that he gained a great deal that helped him in his following years.

I don't have all of these videos... but I don't know how to send them from my documents to you kat and they are too big for email.

I have often wondered if Kimura ever realises what a profound effect he has on so many people all over the world. Do you think our thoughts and expressed opinions can have any impressions upon him without him knowing it???? It's just one of my opinions that thoughts once in your mind are then immediately transmitted through the ether and must go in the direction of the target. I think that is one of the reasons that prayers work.
Anyway..keep on thinking and gushing about Kimura san. He just gets better and better in every way.

Peg

Yup! Kimura san would not fall into the classically handsome category, though now that I've been watching his doramas and videos, I'm inclined to think that gosh darn it...HE is very handsome.

I really don't think all his pictures does him justice. I've been posting in a forum w/Peg for 2 years now and Peg's avatar and siggie is of Kimura san. I never gave it much of a second thought. But now that I'm a Kimura san Addict, I'm kicking myself in the arse for not giving Peg's avi and siggie and ravings more consideration. I could have been immersed in Kimura san's cult (hehehe) alot sooner.

The word aura and charisma comes up alot when people discuss Kimura san. I wholeheartedly agree. He does have an X factor that really draws you to him. I love his acting. I can't believe how I care about each of the characters and what happens to them. Here's my case, I went to see Love and Honor at the movie theaters even though 1) I could get the DVD cheaper and 2) I don't like Samurai movies. And despite the hideous Samurai "mohawk" and bad makeup job and fake sceneries, I loved Shinnojo and Kayo's love story. Only Kimura san can do that for me.

Peg, He was inducted as a Native American brave? That is so awesome. After my trip to Yellowstone, I'm crazy about the wild west and cowboys and indians. The Big Valley, The Virginian, the Ponderosa, and the song Desperado keeps replaying in my mind.

No worries on the vids Peg. Maybe some kind soul will hear my distress signal and put it out on youtube.

hugs,
Kat

Same here. So glad to find some kindred spirit in this forum who have joined the bandwagon w00t! Applaud

I first discovered TK's amazing talent when my sister persuaded me to watch PRIDE. Then it snowballed from there (LONG VACATION, ENGINE, BEAUTIFUL LIFE, LOVE GENERATION, etc., etc.) and I have been hooked ever since.

Apart from his acting talent, he sings and dances very well, a good comedian. I get a good laugh everytime he tries to impersonate a girl because he's so good at it, I forget he's a guy. He is truly an entertainer together with the other SMAP members. I always look for the SMAP shows because of him.

He cooks well too. I always look forward to watching SMAP Bistro to see what feast he'll prepare for their guests, especially the foreign guests. Maybe that's why Cameron Diaz loves to be a guest in the SMAPxSMAP tv show together with Catherine Zeta Jones, Madonna, Matt Damon, Jude Law, Harrison Ford, etc., etc., etc..

I remember watching that Wild West trip of Kimura-san and it was sort of prophetic because the Indian shaman/priest blessed him in the end, gave him an Indian name with a souvenir feather and wished him all the luck and success in his life/career and told him he was a good person inside and out. What a prediction! Look where he is now, still going strong after 20 years.

I wished he could break into the international Hollywood movie market and people would recognize his amazing talent, not just stereotype Asian supporting roles like what Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Ken Watanabe has done. Maybe do indie films because that's the way to go.

I don't think his latest upcoming movie I COME WITH THE RAIN will do justice to his acting range. It is just a cameo appearance and really is Josh Hartnett's movie. Maybe it'll just be the start for more good things to come for Takuya Kimura. Let's just hope it is.

Hi mac_meister!

Yes, I figure if I posted here I would find kindred spirits.
Please come back and keep me company since I have only started on my Kimura san journey.

I started Change and I am totally in love with his curly hair, argyle vests, and tennis shoes. I don't want him to change.

Abe Hiroshi is looking good as well. I can't wait to dig in to the rest of the dorama.

So his role in ICWTR is only a cameo? But the trailer has him is various scenes. Maybe it got expanded?

Dear mac and kat,

Nice warm feelings to hear there are other true and serious admirers of Kimura san out there. For some time I had been out in the wilderness trying to get people to watch and find a wonderful artist. Now at last more people are coming out into the open. It is easy to rave in the teen style but when an old lady wants to explode with rapture it gets a bit tricky. I have adored Kimura for years and SMAP is just a phenom in the Japan show business world.

I can only d/l SMAP Bistro show from d-addicts and that is on the whim of the person who does it. Very good and complete d/l but hellish long time to get it. Is there anywhere else ?????

I have never been able to understand why Johnny's Office is so stingy with showing SMAP to the world. They don't allow photos of Kimura in many places. I am sure he would have made it big all over the world if the management had been more generous. His face is all over Tokyo in various commercials in magazines and papers and on billboards.

Re ICWTR. I think this is definitely a Josh Hartnet vehicle. Can you imagine Kimura being a supporting actor for this US guy. He is nowhere in the ballpark with Kimura. Anyway I think Kimura is doing these small international type things to enlarge his image and give him some more experience in making film apart from the Japanese system. He only needs to improve his English and he will get going in any country. Victory! Peace!

In the meantime I am content to watch anything that Kimura does and I even fall in love with the Pink Poodle every time that horny dog appears.

I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and Kimura is in my thoughts. (Most of the time it is my own true love)... but I think it's the music that imprints also. They have such a great backlog of songs. Always liked Dynamite and Summergate and Sonomama and...well..all the rest.

I trhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFVuETkR0m8y to catch any of Kimura-san's work anywhere I can, always searching and surfing the net. Since I can't read Japanese, it's a bit difficult looking for them on their web so I rely on youtube, veoh and some other places.

One more thing that I love is his many commercials, so fun to watch. These are my faves...ENJOY!!!

Oh! PM Asakura Keita is in the Toyota commercial. I love it. There seems to be some really busy people posting Kimura and SMAP videos lately, which I am extremely thankful for.

I'm almost at the end of Change and as with his other doramas, I don't want it to end. Why can't Jdoramas be 16 episodes and kdramas be 10 episodes instead of the other way around.

I had such a fun time watching Episode 5. For some reason that episode with it's over the topness really appeals to my sense of the ridiculous.

Then wham-bam...Episode 7 has me sobbing my eyes out.

As for Abe Hiroshi, since I've only seen him in HERO and CHANGE, I'm calling him the "towel around my hips" man. Dang! He likes to show off his body. The only thing that would have made me squeal out loud would be Kimura san w/the towel over hips in the same scene. A girl can dream I guess. Hummmm.

Hi Peg,

His upcoming movie is definitely not his but Josh Hartnett's movie created by renowned Vietnamese-French director Anh Hung Tran (44). gI Come With the Rainh, Tranfs first movie in eight years, it's about Josh Hartnett (29) as former L.A. cop turned private eye, Kline. Hired to find Shitao (Kimura), the son of a Chinese billionaire, he travels to Hong Kong where he teams up with an old friend and local cop (Shawn Yue). His search leads him to the gangster Su Dongpo (Korean star Lee Byung Hun) and his druggie mistress (Tranfs wife, actress Tran Nu Yen Khe). But he is haunted by memories of the serial killer Hasford (Elias Koteas) whose crimes almost drove him insane and made him quit the LAPD.
So you see why I call it a "cameo" for Takuya because his role does not stretch his acting chops that much. And based on the movie trailer, his little English speaking part is deliberately made to appear accdg. to his native accent.

In reality, Kimura-san can understand and speak English very well even with an American twang/slang accent (rapper-style too) if he wants to or when he really needs to. Check his episodes speaking English...very funny....

http://www.crunchyroll.com/media-305268/SMAPxSMAP-Kicho-Men-Skit.html

As for Abe Hiroshi, what eye-candy/great body, he reminds me of Hugh Laurie from HOUSE, a great actor with dry humor and I love Abe in comedies, like Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, Dragon Zakura and My Little Chef. Yeah

dear mac..

Yes you are right. Kimura has been able to understand English very well for a long time. His speech not as sharp although much better right now.
I think since he has been a rock and roll guy he became more Westernised as it were, and learned the lingo.
He and Shizuka wanted their girls to go to a very special school where they taught English. Very ritzy. Anyway, these people vetted all parents to see how well they spoke English and they did not let them enter the girls because they were not fluent. Can you imagine turning down Kimura. They went to another school which is as good apparently but not so snooty about their rules. also it was because they did not want all the publicity with people in show business. I think they goofed as even now they have a lot of privacy with the schooling.

Hi Peg,

I second the motion...love that ZUTTO ZUTTO song too. When I first heard it, it caught my attention because of the catchy tune, then when I realized it was Kimura-san singing, I was even more mesmerized. So I requested a Japanese friend to interpret the lyrics for me, and this is what she sent me.

http://www.imeem.com/kaorunaganociao/music/kG-6roXU/smap/

ZUTTO ZUTTO Forever, forever

Doshaburi no ame no hi mo
kumori nochi hareno hi mo

kanarazu kimi no te wo
hanasazu ni iyou
shiawase na toki di mo
kimii ga nayamu toki mo
boku ga nayamu you na
sonna futaride iyou zutto

"When it's rainy or cloudy but sunny later, I will never let go of your hand When you are happy or troubled We share everything forever

REFRAIN (2x)
whatever we do
wherever we go
we live in the future
let's get together

hanari dasu ude ni
nayami dasu mune ni
warai au koe ni me wo

mayoi dasu toki ni
tomadoi dasu tabi ni
namida suru kimi no

"If we find a slightest distance between us or we start worrying We think of the laughters we have shared When we start to doubt or we don't know what to do I stay by your side while you are tearful

kono ame ga agaru made
kasa no naka ni iyou
kurayami ga akeru made

nami ga takai toki mo
kanarazu kimi no te wo
hanasazu ni iyou
tsuki ga kirei na toki mo
kimi ga kowai yoru mo
futari warau you na
sonna kimi to boku de zutto

We stay under the same umbrella until the rain is gone We keep our eyes shut like two birds until this darkness is gone When winds blow hard or the tide is high I will never let go of your hand In a beautiful moonlight or when you are scared We share everything forever

REFRAIN (1x)
whatever we do
wherever we go
we live in the future
let's get together

sawagi dasu kodou ni

If our hearts feel uneasy and we are worried We talk and share We stay as we are forever So that we can understand each other even if we change

okata nga ga wakaru made

hohoemi kakete iyou

We argue until we understand each other We believe in each others' smiles until the tears are gone

Te wo tsunagi yomitoru kimi no kodou
