LOL, you have a propensity for bad movies, don't you?

tell me about it.

i still have 21 (which seems to be broken), Vantage Point, and an Edward Burns that looks like an indie love movie called Purple Violets

or

maybe i should just stick with tv series.

just saw Vantage Point and White Chicks.

Vantage Point was kinda like Bourne but less action-packed. But how they had different point of views was kinda cool.

White Chicks was... dumb. but it is kinda funny. lol

Yea, but for some reason I can never watch it again. Something about the way the Wayne bros. were made up really doesn't sit well with my stomach. Beaten

They must have been in there too, along with the Wayans brothers Wink

I think I must have reached my limit of stupid movies: I can't watch anything like that any more.

My son watched The Blues Brothers on DVD yesterday. I've never seen him laugh so much Big Grin It's one of my favourites too. Smile

I wouldn't watch this either. I think you could lose brain cells watching it and I can't afford to lose any more! Beaten

On topic: I watched a really disturbing movie called Repulsion about a woman slowly going insane. Definitely recommend it for those who like psychological movies.

Oh, and I also saw Sex and The City earlier this week. Better than I thought, but it felt like a REALLY long episode and something I wouldn't go out of my way to watch or Netflix. I only went because I had a free ticket from a friend.

What higher praise can a movie get? hehe

That depends on your sense of humor. I find it hilarious, but I know a lot of people don't Sweat It's a totally different type of humor to White Chicks and that type of movie...

*barf*, couldn't they find a better pose??

Without anything better to do, dusted off one my old favorites, Local Hero http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0085859/. I don't know if you could make this movie today, a big part of it is Peter Riegert going to the local phone box and calling from Scotland to Houston. Nowadays, he'd just use his cell phone. So much for progress. Shake Head

OK, I recently watched this quirky little independent movie entitled Big Dreams Little Tokyo which was made in 2006. Written and directed by Dave Boyle (who's from Arizona), it's about this dorky young white guy named Boyd (played by Boyle himself) who fashions himself a Japanese businessman, from his dress to his attitude to his behavior to his speech (he's fluent in Japanese). He's written a book designed to teach native Japanese speakers English, and the movie opens with his trying to peddle his book in San Jose's J-town. He has one student who also happens to be his roommate, a Japanese-American named Jerome who is constantly stuffing his face with food in an effort to put on enough weight to become a sumo wrestler. To show his dedication, Jerome also wears a mawashi (sumo wrestler's loincloth) and has his hair in a chonmage (topknot).

The core of the movie is about Boyd's efforts to make a go of his business, aided his roommate and, later on, by a pretty Japanese nurse whom he meets as a result of Jerome's gluttony, as well as by a Mexican-American who's a cook in a Japanese restaurant (those of us who live in California know this is not uncommon).

A good 20 percent of the movie's dialog is in Japanese, and there are scenes in Spanish as well. In fact, at one point in the movie, there is a crossfire of Spanish-to-English-to-Japanese and vice-versa conversation among a group of characters.

Made for under 200,000 dollars, this is a witty, observant, very entertaining movie.
