NFL season opened last night with an absolute snoozer of a game: the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants vs. the Washington Redskins, with the Giants prevailing, 16-7.

Watching the Farve-Pennington grudge-match, aka Jets vs. Dolphins. Pennington just threw a touchdown pass and it's tied at 7 a piece now. That's the CBS game, while FOX is showing Seahawks-Bills here. If those two aren't exciting enough, FOX is showing Cardinals-49ers next _________________

Farve under pressure just throws one up and it's caught for a touchdown. When it works it's great, but if that was a pick, some would be complaining about Farve being the same gunslinger taking too many chances. _________________

With Tom Brady out for the season, I'm very interested to see how Bill Belichick handles the situation, since Brady has been the Patriots starting QB since Week 3, I think, of the '01 season. The previous season, Belichick's first season with the Pats, resulted in a 5-11 record, but thanks to Mo Lewis (kinda, sorta) that was his only losing season at New England.
Besides absolutely ruining my fantasy football season, Brady's injury might ruin the Patriots' chemistry just a little. How will Randy Moss react when Matt Cassel overthrows a pass, or doesn't see Moss wide open? Imagine if Cassel actually pulls a Brady himself and lead the Patriots to a Super Bowl win. Does Brady become a highly expensive backup just like Drew Bledsoe? Teammates might be divided over who to support.
It's way too early to tell of course, but the possibilities have me interested.
Nice to see the 49ers' new offense putting 13 points. That Martz guy is the answer! Could be worse though, like Martz's old team the Rams.
Not really looking forward to Bay Area football the rest of the season. _________________

I think Belichick has only won 1 playoff game without Brady ... so, it'll be interesting to see how much of a "mastermind" coach he is with an average (or worse) QB.
Though the rest of the team is still pretty good.

I'm not sure if he won any in Cleveland, but I do remember the AFC Championship against Pittsburgh where Bledsoe took over an injured Brady.
I agree with you, the rest of the team is pretty good, and if Cassel can play decently the Patriots could be a playoff team.

I wish the Chargers were in the Bay Area. The folks in Southern Cali get to see a better football team, even if they are 0-1 so far. Besides, there's always USC football
