Loveless,
I'm with you. Fuji's policy about subs ticks me off.
But this particular Fuji Drama has Yokoyama Megumi in it... So I won't start hating fuji for a while. |

Yokoyama was WAY better in The End of the World.
The only factor giving me an incentive to watch is Mimura, the other Megumi, and to some extent Yasuko... |

WARNING!! SPOILER!!
YOU ARE WARNED! If you have not watched Beginner don't read the following paragraph...
| Spoiler (highlight text to read): | Ne~ I've some doubts about the ending! So did Yasuko and Tsutsumi got together?? The only part I catch was Tsutsumi said to Yasuko that she do not need to force herself to marry him. And Yasuko said she will never forget all of them (including Tsutsumi)... then later on in the disscussion, Yasuko said she will probably forget (things that happened 5 years ago regarding the case) and Tsutsumi poke on her that she just said 'I will never forget all of you'...
Thats all?! hontou? So they are not together?? |

think the ending is meant for you to think if they are to be together...but since yasuko is to go to another city for her career, it may well mean that they are not together..
which of the many cases in that show do you like best? |

I liked the one where Okina Megumi's character's father was involved in one of the cases. Really interesting episode! _________________

Episode 1 & 2 comments
http://jdorama.com/viewtopic.php?p=788595#788595
Just finished watching episode 3
This series is getting really good, unexpectedly. Even though they are different types of drama, I think it's better than Medaka (which I thought was great), Furuhata Ninzaburo, and HERO (which bears some resemblance).
I never really understood the appeal of studying law before (apart from financial incentives), but episode 3 really showed me what can be so interesting with legal studies. It seems to me, legal studies is more than just studying the rules which govern society, but also understanding the human mind, behaviour and the working of many different corners of society, which can be quite dynamic.
I am getting used to the pace of this drama. I could follow episode 2 and 3 without a second viewing. It does demand your brain to work quite a lot though.

Just finished watching episode 7
There are parts which are quite sentimental. The complexities of the cases has decreased, focusing instead on the human aspects. These few episodes were all very good still. |

Where did you find this drama?... i've been looking for it for a long time! |
I am watching a Chinese-subbed version. Sorry to disappoint. Almost all the dramas I watch in the past and in future are Chinese-subbed. You can find the raws and probably Korean subs on ClubBox.
http://boxfile.co.kr/
I found the NG and making specials for the DVD boxset.
I can upload those if anyone is interested. They came only with Chinese subs too.

I failed to be moved by episode 8. But perhaps only because I am too much of a cynic.
Episode 9 was a lot of fun. And it seemed to be over in no time, very enjoyable. |

Just finished.
For those who haven't seen it, this series basically involves the 8 main characters sitting around and discussing legal case studies. Those are the best parts IMO. I really enjoyed the intellectual discussions, people from different backgrounds sharing different viewpoints. The camaraderie and rapport, the re-enactments, ... and sometimes I could understand what the people involved in those cases felt, and see the dynamic appeal of legal studies, like in episode 3, these are the highlights for me.
Not much time was spent on the individual stories and backgrounds of the 8 main characters. The relationships between them were not developed very much either (no time), with the exception being Kitihara and Morino. While enjoyable, their friendship did not leave a particularly strong impression on me, and I did not wish for more time/explanation on these parts, other viewers may feel quite differently. Mimura, was quite good I thought. Her inexperience showed, but it suited her character. Matsuyuki Yasuko was probably the most convincing, though the Megumi's and the oldguys didn't have a lot to do.
I would recommend it. But the Chinese subtitles for this series was probably one of the most difficult to understand in my experience, so I guess only those fluent in Japanese can fully understand and appreciate this series.

Now only the DVD specials (with cast interviews) remains. |
