Cool. That's the same company that makes the instant miso soup that I occassionally have. In fact I think they are one of the largest, if not the largest, maker of instant miso products for home cooking.

Eating champ delivers top pizza performance in NY
NEW YORK - Chowdown champ Joey Chestnut has done it again ― this time proving he's a pizza powerhouse.
He downed 45 slices in 10 minutes Sunday to win the first Famous Famiglia World Pizza Eating Championship in New York's Times Square.
The 24-year-old from San Jose, Calif., says he fasted for more than a day to prepare. He folded and squeezed the slices to make them easier to swallow.
The 24-year-old rocketed to competitive-eating celebrity when he won Coney Island's July Fourth hot-dog eating contest in 2007. He took the title again this summer by gulping down 59 dogs in 10 minutes.
He won a contest in Tennessee last month by wolfing down 93 Krystal hamburgers in 8 minutes. _________________

She'll only enjoy it if she gives the rest of us grief. _________________

I had to take care of some business down in Orange County today so I met up with a friend & had lunch at the Costa Mesa Mitsuwa Food Court...finally I had a well prepared, delicious omurice! The omelette was fluffy as it should be and the rice pilaf was flavorful and moist...and the sauce wasn't heavy at all. It was much better than the omurice I had at the Curry House at Weller Court....well, this time the chef was Japanese...it does make a difference.
The restaurant counter at the food court is called Maestro. They have about 4 different types of omurice on the menu. I had the Omurice with Mushroom Cream Sauce Oishii!!! Only $6.50 too.

Omg, I just realized how crazy Hawaii people are about SPAM. I just received a menu from a restaurant with SPAM katsu curry. Maybe I'll scan it later and post a pic of it. _________________

Breaded, fried spam cutlet...as if it wasn't fatty enough as is.

I may have to stop going to Torrance. That's what about another half hour/45 minute drive. Looks like it would be worth it. |

Well, you hit the nail on the head, 'mark. They don't have a Maestro @ the Torrance Mitsuwa Food Court or the Santa Monica one either.
I don't go down there very often because of the other Mitsuwas which are much closer to me...but yeah it was pretty good and it's pretty cheap, if you ask me. Guess if you knew you wanted to go to Mitsuwa one weekend you could grab some lunch and do your grocery shopping down there to justify the longer drive.
From the Mitsuwa website:
マエストロ
Maestro
懐かしの洋食をカウンターでお楽しみください。ソースが選べるオムライス、エビフライ、カツカレー、グラタンなどメニューが豊富です。
Japanese continental cuisine. Omu-Rice, Fried shrimp, Katsu Curry and Cheese Gratin are the all-time favorites for kids and adults alike. |
