I hope to influence some people too. I figured out that I'm going to make them a copy of Long Vacation and maybe Dekichatta Kekkon since the first episode alone sucked me in.

I'm handling a new client that was hit by a boat propeller. It's a crazy case. A guy was driving his boat too fast late at night while drunk.. and hit a boat with 5 people on it, injuring 4 and killing one.
Our poor client had her knee cap torn off. I did photography at the defendant's property the other day.. to make sure he doesn't liquidate all his assets.. until someone yelled at me. I felt kinda bad.. but I know why we have to do it - there isn't near enough insurance to cover the potentially huge medical costs alone, let alone any general damages for future losses. It's rough.
It's kinda cool though - I'm in on the ground floor and helping find all the parties and making the contacts. There are like 6 attorneys involved (representing each party) and like 10 different city and county officials handling the investigation and criminal side of things.
There ain't gonna be no winners in this one _________________

I have today off too. We coulda gone to the movies! In reality, I think I'm most likely going to focus on drama copying, studying, and doing laundry. Wow, exciting, ain't it.
@ phlargo: That sounds like a really depressing case. Hopefully that drunk guy gets what he deserves if he was stupid to drink and drive (that sounds odd when referring to a boat). _________________

Man, that's harsh! Although the drunk driver is clearly a moron and got what was coming, I can't help but feel sorry for him. I mean, unless you're a psycho, no one wishes to murder another. He made a terrible terrible mistake that will live with him forever.
And of course, the innocent victims... you're right. There is no winner here.

I get a holiday today because it's Thanksgiving.

At least you get things accomplished! I woke up and cleaned the house. Now I'm taking a break before I start prepping for the Thanksgiving dinner. I really should use this time to finish my lesson plans and marking, which I still haven't done... but as you can see, I'm somewhat distracted. _________________

A Japanese patient came in the office today and noticed that I was listening to a Jpop song. We then got into talking a little about Jdramas (she mentioned watching Seija no Koushin & Hoshi no Kinka on Youtube) and it was pretty fun talking to her with my crappy Japanese. _________________

The rest of us should be so lucky to know crappy Japanese. _________________

I guess my Japanese isn't crappy. I guess it's more like "a little above crappy"?
My boss left early today and told me to watch Japanese videos/dramas on the computer. When I said that I didn't want to (mostly because it would be unprofessional, etc.), he told me that I could do whatever I wanted except for smoking marijuana (which some temp actually did in the past). This gives me ideas... _________________

Oh yeah? What do you have in mind?
And someone actually smoked dope on the job? hmm.
Although I shouldn't be surprised. My neighbor has a few cones every morning before work and apparently more while at work... _________________

It was a long time ago. Before I worked here. I think it was something like my boss went on a business trip and had a temporary secretary work here to answer phones and whatnot. When my boss came back, someone told him that the temp was taking hits and getting high in the office. Amusing stuff. _________________
