alright.. i have to agree with the rest that the plot really sucks and lame..
but i do hope (please don't kill me for this.. ) for Boss 2.
i mean, i really like the chemistry between the cast. it is a good stress reliever drama after a harsh day at work. _________________ **********************

Great cast but I dropped out after episode 1. Scriptwriter/s shoud be ashamed of themselves.

I'm still watching it, but if they were to have a BOSS 2 they should definitely invest in some different writers.

From some of the reviews, it'd be better to forego any sequel... One Gokusen is enough...

I knew how every "Dirty Harry" movie was going to turn out and I still watched them. They're going to need more than this to carry them through 11 episodes that's for sure but I managed to slog thru Rikon Bengsohi 2 and Topcaster. I already know this is going to be better than those. |
Whew, someone didn't hate it! Watched episode one tonight, sure no awards for it, but entertaining and quite a solid cast, then again, only the 1st episode, hope to keep my optimism.

Just finished Boss. This was an ok dorama, nothing outstanding but nothing really bad at the same time. The acting was average and the same to the plot; some episodes were better than others, specially 9 and 4-5, those 3 were really great. Episodes 4-5 were really intense and Yamada Takayuki really brought his A game for episode 5, the guy just rocks; episode 9 was good too, the plot was a lot like Fight Club but still good. The female main characters, Eriko(Amami Yuki) and Kimoto(Toda Erika), were really annoying, i love both actress´s but i really can´t stand their characters in this, they were never funny and when they tried to be serious they failed big time(specialy Kimoto). I´m a guy but i have to say that i enjoyed the male characters much more, all of them even Hanagata(Mizobata Junpei). Yamamura(Nukumizu Youichi), the gay one(can´t remember his name and Nodate(Takenouchi Yutaka) allways cracked me up, really funny characters, they made Boss much more enjoyable. I rate this a 7 because i was entertained, but episodes 4, 5 and 9 deserve more than 7.

Can't argue with really anything there, really wish Yutaka's role was bigger, not really sure why he would bother with a role like that. Episodes 4 and 5 were the best, Yamada was the best of the cast, he's always been fairly good in most of his roles, episode 8 with him was really good. Erika could sit there with a bag over her head but it'd still be worth watching.

The scenes in the last episode where Takenouchi appeared with Takashi Sorimachi brought back glorious memories of the Beach Boys. I was firmly in Sorimachi's camp in those years, after getting swept off my feet by his suave performance in GTO. But I must say Takenouchi aged better!
Solid acting from the rest of the cast too. My favourite guest star was definitely Manami Konishi. She looked awesome and was awesome.
My only complaint about this drama is the tiresome gag about baldness and hair tonic. It wasn't even funny the first time round and they had to do it every episode.
But on the whole, I enjoyed the show. |
Didn't know Sorimachi was in episode 11, only up to 9, about to watch episode 10, at 95% downloaded. Konishi's episode(8) was quite good, they do draw in some good guests, episode had Namase Katsuhisa, he's prtetty known for those wig jokes from Trick. Agree with you about it being enjoyable, nothing more nor less, worth a watch if you're curious...at 95.2%.

Episodes 10 and 11 are a 2-parter, Sorimachi is in both, episode 10 blew me away, wish the whole series was as good, can't wait for the finale!

Whew, finally finished it, those last 2 episodes were so good, wish they were all like that. Would rate episodes 1-9 a seven, though episodes 4, 8, 9 were quite good, others were only so-so, last 2 episodes I'd rate a ten, overall a 7.5/10, won't give away any spoilers, but there were quite a few twists at the end, perhaps too many, Sorimachi's guest spot was quite good too. I'd recommend it, neither good nor bad but enjoyable.

Style wins over substance again
Yuki Amami returns for "BOSS" sequel
Thu, January 27, 2011
It is now confirmed that Fuji TV will broadcast a sequel to the 2009 drama series "BOSS" this spring. Starring Yuki Amami as the head of a team of detectives, the show averaged 17.0% ratings with a peak of 20.7%, and many fans have been hoping for another season.
The story this time will continue from the final scene of the first series, with Amami's character Eriko receiving a sudden phone call as she is about to leave Japan, leading her to once again take the reins of the special detective unit. The main supporting cast will be returning, including Yutaka Takenouchi, Erika Toda, Junpei Mizobata, Michiko Kichise, Kendo Kobayashi, Yoichi Nukumizu, and Tetsuji Tamayama.
The sequel will air in the same Thursday 10:00pm time slot, starting in April.

What?! Now that was one good drama, really interesting with some likeable flaky characters, glad it's official now. _________________
