Welcome megmeg. Wave

For Edo and Ryoma, I can only think of Atsuhime, and of course, this year's Taiga drama, Ryoma den. But only 2 episodes has aired so far.

Here are some of my favourites.

Ohsama no resutoran (King's Restaurant)
Hitotsu yane no shita
Odoru Daisousasen
Churasan
Ruri no shima
Medaka

Hopefully these will help you relax. They all have light-hearted moments (except Ruri no shima perhaps, but the scenery is quite relaxing). I can recommend more but let's see how you go with these.

Hi guys-this is my first post-Sorry-you guys all seem to know each other!
Basically I love Doramas---I'm not too fussy-I can watch ones that are just relaxing or whatever-I think too much at work and school as it is so I don't mind if it's silly^_^*
My husband is kind of fussy though-he doesn't really like those younger Johnny boys much-and by not much I mean he says "eeeee......kimochi waruiiiii" when he sees them...so.....
I'm trying to find dramas that we can watch together. So far we enjoyed watching:
Jin
Kekkon Dekinai otoko
at home dad
Home drama
hotaru no hikari
konkatsu
.......
I wanna watch more from edo if possible....We both LOvED Jin...And he loves Ryoma.....
Thank you for any advice....
And nice to meet you!!!
Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu!

Well i have to agree with your husband, for a guy most johnyLs guys are a plague, they have the ocasional good dorama, but they usually suck lol.

Anyway if you want something about past Japan(Taiga) i recomend Musashi, itLs a very good dorama for guys, iLm a guy who likes Jet Li movies and the Crows Zero franchise so you can rest assure on my opinion Yeah .

Musashi is the tale of the most famous samurai, Myamoto Musashi, and his "way of the sword" life style, it has romance and action, very good story based and true facts.
You have Ichikawa Shinnosuke as Musashi, Matsuoka Masahiro as Kojiro and Abe Hiroshi, it cant get much better than this.

Based on your choices i can recomend too:
Rookies: Sports, deliquents, drama, comedy and Sato Ryuta.

My Boss My Hero: 27 year old yakuza(Nagase Tomoya) has to finish highschool to enerit his father yakuza sindicate, super funny, you canLt go wrong with Tomoya playing an Yakuza part.

I think most guys enjoy doramas with sports and romance, so:
H2
Pride
Wonderful Life
1 Pound no Fukuin

And Yonekura Ryoko as Otsu. Smitten

Musashi is one of the better Taigas, though like most, they're long (49 episodes typically)... Maybe too long. Sweat

My recommendations. They're all filmed in the recent years, definitely after 2000. I prefer more recent dramas because I find the odd fashion sense in the earlier years quite disconcerting.

Hello!
I've been having a little break from watching JDoramas because I've been busy with army and other personal reasons. Anyway, now I have plenty of time again, and I would need some recommendations.
I'd love to watch a more serious/dark drama. The last such drama I watched was Unfair and I gotta admit, I loved every bit of it. Could anyone recommend something similiar to Unfair? Victory! Peace!

I haven't watched many police dramas, sorry.
After checking your profile from the dramas I have seen in the "serious/dark genre" I would recommend to you these:

Pandora
Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi
Life
Ashita no Kita Yoshio
Shiroi Kyoto
Jyoou no Kyoushitsu
Triangle
Gonzo

And if you can bear Jonny boys maybe also Maou

Maybe Keizoku? There are plenty of serious, dark dramas... but I haven't seen Unfair.

Some more darker doramas you could try:
Warui Yatsura
Kusenosu
Taju Jinkaku Tantei Psycho
Nemureru Mori
Kou Kou Kyoushi (all versions)
Kono yo no Hate
Watashitachi no Kyokasho

Along with those suggested, maybe Nyokei Kazoku?

Every person in that drama has some agenda and they're all pretty much selfish and despicable.

For 2009, I've watched Liar Game 2 (9/10), Karei Naru Spy (It was fun) and Atasinchi no Danshi (a letdown).

So what 3 2009 dorama would you guys recommend (apart from the 3 above)?

Can't believe Kaz did not recommend Triangle, real solid dark/crime/mystery who-done-it?
