Watching the Curling right now. It has its own appeal. |
I was watching this today as well! I was telling my mother, normally I wouldn't watch Curling. But because it's the Olympics...

Whenever I see pairs skating now I alway go back to that truly exciting night when the English pair broke through all barriers and skated like flying and changed the way for the sport for the future.
TORVILL AND DEAN...

So am I! Is it true that the pair that won Gold is now retiring? What a way to end their career.

Yup, Zhao will be 40 and Shen will be 35 come Sochi 2014. Somehow if they did compete they would still be considered a favourite, they're that good.
Friend gave me a chuckle when he said they are an inspiration to kids and thirtysomethings everywhere

I know, right? Too bad I missed Plushenko's short routine (rats!), but the Japanese skaters (one of them is a descendant of Oda Nobunaga, how kewl is that? ) were electrifying. Fantastic performances from Johnny Weir and Evan Lysaceck, too! Can't wait for the free skate!
Enna wrote: | Congratulations to the Chinese Pair Skaters who won Gold and Silver medals last night!!! Plus the Silver Medalists skated to one of my all time favorite songs in their routine "To Dream the Impossible Dream." So beautiful! |
That routine by Pang/Tong was my favorite! I was on the verge of tears after their performance. It had drama, passion, tenderness, and it told a story. The music from "Man of La Mancha" was beautiful, great arrangement by Joe Hisaishi (!!!).

Well, wouldn't that be a sight to behold...
(I preferred Takahashi Daisuke's routine, though. Such panache! )
