You need a trip to the Gyoza Stadium in Ikebukuro. It might be a life changing event for you, man.

Seriously, you should try ni tamago with your ramen if you ever have the opportunity. You'll always crave it!

No doubt. I'm sure after having literally hundreds if not thousands of insanely good ramen shops at your proverbial doorstep you would be hard pressed to find the same exceptional quality here in the States.

I know you have been to way more ramen shops in Japan than me, for obvious reasons, but I can see the handful of shops that I've been to were much better than what we have here. BY FAR.

That's not to say I don't enjoy some of the places here, but they simply don't compare.

Sorry to interrupt again.

Not naturally. MSG is usually added as a "flavor enhancer." There must be some brands that are organic and unadulterated by artificial chemicals such as MSG.

Short answer is no. Some mass producers add it to enhance flavor without aging. I have "Hikari" brand red miso paste, it's imported/produced by JFC Intl. I can't handle much msg, so i do seek out foods that have none or only natural concentrations.

....had wanted to get some miso paste from Kyushu. Because it is bulk purchase, there wasn't any packaging to indicate if MSG is present. How is it usually indicated on normal packaging ( i mean the Japanese packaging) ?

I don't know if I have any miso in my pantry at the moment...I would at least need to see it before I could give you an answer. Perhaps Krim or someone else could step in...

I know Kazdoramma is from Nagoya which is super famous for their miso so when he shows up on this board we should solicit an answer from him.
