One month later after the release of Episode 1... Nothing on Episode 2.
Here we go again.
If you want more releases of Okusama wa Majo in any good time frame then I need some decent/reliable people to get on board as editors/QCer's. So far I have been waiting over 7 weeks just for people to perform QC and getting no where at all.
Don't moan if you're not willing to help. I'm more than fed up of waiting for people and having to keep delaying releases over and over and over, I don't need other people posting crap like this.

If you're so fed up with those helping you who really aren't helping, then do it yourself.
I already do a lot of editing and at least 5 QC passes for my releases. But obviously you are not going to spot your own real mistakes if you are checking your own work. This is why professional book writers etc employ editors for!
I don't come from the school of thought that because I'm not paid to translate that I can release just any old rubbish as long as it makes sense like the majority of the current subbers do (actually this is why I rarely bother to watch anything subtitled now).
I'm not actually unhappy with the few people I do have at hand but the lead times are getting a bit too long for my liking. They have busy lives to lead and like myself have more important things to do than devoting every waking hour to subtitling stuff.
The main thing is getting people to realise it's not like we aren't doing anything, we just choose to do things properly and since when was 4 weeks supposedly too long a wait for a public release? Who decided this "unbreakable" rule?

I spent a good deal of time trying to find how I could do some QC on this...
there was nothing on the d-addicts thread or easily accessible on the fansubber website about how to volunteer for QC...
Truth be told, this guy has a shitty attitude...no wonder he can't get anyone to work with him...
You must have spent a lot of brain power on this if you couldn't figure out that you can email me or pm me for more details via loads of different message boards like this one.
Problem is less of getting volunteers but more about getting volunteers that are worth having on board. Not freeloaders who just want early access to episodes and people who can barely speak English to any decent level of proficiency.
Anyway who really has the shitty attitude? The person who gives anyway his hard work for free or the people who moan about the stuff they are getting for free? Quite a moral dilemma there eh?

Five QC passes? I think you're being way too anal with the QC, huh?
I mean, it's not a professional release for sale like from Criterion or something... And I've even seen spelling and grammatical errors from Criterion releases, so they're not immune.
You obviously understand the language, so you can get away with watching dramas without subtitles, but the rest of us don't have that luxury and have to take whatever we can get.

Yeah, we are probably too anal with quality and I've also seen many mistakes in professional releases alongside very bad localisations. But we are aiming for something we can be pleased/happy with as professionals even if we are not doing this at a professional level and in our spare time for nothing in return.
I especially would get annoyed if stupid little mistakes are let through even if no one else cares and those sort of things bug the hell out of me. This is really less about making other people happy but making sure we are happy with the releases. In the end we are being associated with our releases even if we no longer credit ourselves inside the fansub and so we want to be associated with a high standard of quality. Speed be damned!

This luxury came at the expense of many years of self study alongside a couple of years part-time college after work. So I'd say it's less a luxury but more of something I earnt.

At about 39 minutes in Daria says a single line that is not in sync with the audio. This is not an encoding glitch on my side. This is actually the same as what happens on the DVD's. It seems one single line was re-recorded afterwards and if you watch her lips very carefully the actress has actually messed up her line.
