As long as the Angels are bottom-feeding, it's all good.
Wasn't for the M's last year they would have been cellar dwellars then too. Actually that division has some really good pitchers but the hitting leaves something to be desired, actually maybe the hitters make the pitchers look better than they are. _________________

Sox move back into a first place tie with the E.E. by upending them in the Bronx 6-4. Another good game for AG plus a HR from Ortiz, he just loves playing there, with that short right field he'd 50+ HRs every year. Another shaky outing though from Papp, luckily they had a 3 run lead going into the 9th but he scares me too much if they have to bring him in only up by one. _________________

Although the draft happend a few days ago, this caught me by surprise. No wonder he's sticking with college, it's the Cubs
Quote:
The Chicago Cubs on Tuesday selected high school first baseman Trevor Gretzky in the seventh round of major-league baseball's June draft out of Oaks Christian High School, in Thousand Oaks, California. Gretzky, 18, is the son of hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.
Trevor Gretzky had signed a letter of intent to attend San Diego St. University and would play for Hall-of-Famer, Tony Gwynn. The 6-4, 188 lb. lefthanded hitter stated in April his goal of becoming a major-league player, but his father seemed to favour him going the college route, especially when linked with a former major-league icon like Gwynn.
Gretzky had upped his draft value dramatically with a dominating nine-RBI high school performance in mid-May. The deadline for players making a decision, either signing a pro contact or passing and deciding to attend school is August 15.

Can't blame him, can you?
The Bronx has been like the second home for the Sox as they run their record to 5-0 there with a 11-6 pasting of the E.E. Another HR for Ortiz and their other 2 lefties Crawford and Drew went deep too, now a one game lead for them with one whale of a duel coming up tomorrow, Beckett vs. Sabathia. _________________

It's nice to see the offense when it works.
It's been a nice rebound season for Ortiz.

Worked again last night and another big game for Ortiz as the Sox improve to 6-0 at Yankee staduim by beating them 7-3 to open up a 2 game lead. After 2 batters Beckett was down 2-0 but only allowed 4 more baserunners in going 7 innings for the win. Couple more RBI's for AG, Ellsbury seems to be the key, he's really having been on fire the last month, getting a ton of hits and not just singles, second in the league in doubles plus leads the league in SBs. _________________

That game got underway very late.
Yeah, Ellsbury's offense has come from nowhere. He took a lot of heat last year, even though he was injured, people thought he was faking the injury.

Yeah, 3 hour rain delay, why do they do that, sure most fans have left or won't stay for the whole game, plus the Sox still have another visit to the Bronx, probably got over at 2:00 am and at $9.50 a beer one would go broke real quick. _________________

Sox offense continues to roll in blasting the Jays in Toronto today...16-4! Lackey got the win, sub par effort again, seems when he pitches the offense knows they need to score runs, Ortiz continues his hot streak with another HR , one more game against the Jays tomorrow, Sox latest streak is now at 8 games. _________________

^ Wow, BoSox are rolling.
Yeah, luckily their hot streaks are longer than their cold ones, won 8 in a row, before that lost 4 in a row. Padres and Pirates coming up soon on their interleague matches so hopefully that'll help the hot streak going, end the month with what could be a WS preview as they visit Philly. _________________
