I dunno if it should have been classified as a comedy.
Who did that? Definitely had some great comedic moments but don't think it should be classified as a comedy either.
Of course some of these classifications of dramas are questionable. Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi, which was terrific, is classified as romance, but I think it should be a romantic comedy, as i thought there was as much comedy as there was romance. But everyone has their own interpretations.

Yup, I read the awful reviews here and at D-Addicts... but this is a heck of a cast, and I had to at least give it a try.
Thing is... I'm finding the show to be fascinating. The mysteries, and the solutions of the crimes aren't great but then how many Detective shows are known for their great plotting?
I'm fascinated with this show because Nagasaku is bringing back two iconic characters from Japanese Film and TV.
The first is, of course, Wakayama's "Lone Wolf & Cub" series. The unbeatable former executioner who wanders the land, pushing his kid in a wooden baby stroller, fully tricked out with all manner of secret gadgets and weapons. Slicing and dicing scores of the wicked.
Nagasaku has her ultra modern, bullet proof, climate controlled stroller. And she, her baby and her babysitter always bring the wicked to justice.
The second iconic character is the middle aged Japanese single mom, with her permed hair and horrible fashion sense, who usually roamed the land selling insurance.
And those ladies were iconic. You started seeing them in movies and shows back in the seventies and eighties... usually heavy set middle aged character actresses, and that perm wearing woman could always outsell all the salary men in the office because they had to. They were their family's sole source of income, and they were indefatigable. They outsold the men during the day, and out drank them at night. And always came home in time to make sure their kids were okay and studying hard.
Those two characters were both products of economic hard times and it looks to me, in this case, like Japanese TV is back to doing a bit of social engineering.
Times are tough... so it's back to basics for us. Nose to the grind stone. Don't be beaten. And for goodness sake, as we see in episode 4, go back to having babies !

Finished quite qucikly Ouran High School Host Club, was so zany and over the top but it ended being one of those so bad it's good dramas, was actually an okay watch. Now on to Bunshin, episode 3, wish there were more than 5 and finally after an 8 month wait just started on Zenkai Girl. _________________
I started watching Delicious Gakuin today!
The reason? Well, because of one of my favorite TeniMyu casts, Nagayan!

Okay. All done with Dirty Mama!
Nope. Not a good show. There were some interesting things going on with it. And they did get Karina into a French Maid's Uniform in one episode, so that made me happy. But all in all, it was more about making points (Work hard, have babies, expect/accept no hand outs, don't be weak) than making a good TV show.
I've seen worse... but now it's time to get back to Gegege no Nyobo

Haven't seen too many j-dramas this year, mostly because I moved into a place with no internet access . However, I started SPEC yesterday. So far it's a little strange, but in a good way. _________________

No access sometimes sounds like a nice alternative. SPEC gets better and better as the series goes on, one of the best from the last few years, there's also a TV movie which aired on April 1st which continues the story, really worth a watch.
Currently up to episode 5 of Zenkai Girl, been fine but nothing special. Also some newer series have started on, Kagi no Kakatta Heya and Toshi Densetsu no Onna both had solid debuts, another really good one is Another World, surprised it's getting subbed, that was one good first episode, lots of suspense and action. _________________

I've finished seven episodes so far. I'm liking it quite a bit. Probably one of my top three favorite detective dramas. _________________

I finished SPEC. Unique concepts for a detective drama, and interesting the whole way through. Toda Erika did a good job here. The last episode was a little over dramatic, but not to bad. Overall a pretty good drama, and I look forward to seeing the movie. 8/10. _________________

Making an attempt to watch Aibou.......because the ratings continues to go up even at its first decade....wonder why.....
After a few episodes, i decided to fish out the better cases. Still trying.....
They lay on either end of the spectrum. In the beginning, I thought they were better than counting sheep. The characters just talked and talked and talked me to sleep. Wonderful. I need that every sunday. On the other end of the spectrum, some cases were worth a repeat viewing.
....still trying to get use to that dead-panned face.

To me, the show is very Columbo/Banacek-like: cerebral, heavy on dialog, and very little action... And fascinating for the most part.

Finally started and completed watching Soratobu Taiya.
Had it in my queue for several years but jsut got around to watching it during the weekend.
It was surprisingly good. _________________
After a couple real stinkeroos (BOSS 2 and Gold) looks like Yuki might have gotten herself a pretty good one. The plot isn't going to be anything we haven't seen before in Hula Girls or Waterboys. The old underdogs overcome everything scenario. But in just the first episode they've already covered Akiko Wada's "Anokane wo Narasu no ha Anata" and The Boom's "Kaze ni Naratai". I may stick around just for the music.
But it does have a real good cast. Besides Yuki there's Yuriko Ishida, Nana Katase, and Tetsuji Tamayama. And Yuki started out as a singer/dancer so she's definitely in her element.
