Hopefully 9 and 10 will resolve the mask mystery good.

Finished "I'm Home". The end of episode 9 I thought, "Give me break, you've got to be kidding!"

I don't want to say the ending was disappointing but it did seem like it was rushed. They really could have used one more episode to explain things a little better. I wonder if they cut it short because of Aya's condition. At the beginning of episode 10 you can tell she's definitely pregnant. I did like the way they showed the conflict Kimtaku had in his head between the old Ieji and the new Ieji. Not bad, but still could have used one more episode.

I was checking to see if this had been added to JDorama's database yet (it hasnt't) but was surprised to see it's actually a remake of a drama made about 10 years ago: http://www.jdorama.com/drama.904.htm

Now that I've got a Roku and Smart TV I'm spoiled for choice with the Dramafever channel. They seem to have a lot of the newer dramas though, and I'd like to see a few from the 80's and 90's. Still have Blue Bird and Long Vacation in my queue.

Is Algernon ni Hanataba o (Flowers for Algernon) any good? I've been wanting to watch it, but I'm not sure about the lead actor.

I agree with the extra episode, it did feel a bit rushed and I was like huh? at the end of it all. Aya was quite visibly pregnant from the second half of the drama - actually, ever since they announced she was pregnant during the filming, I'd noticed how her dressing and even her scenes were done to accommodate her condition.

I'd have liked if the mask had started cracking a little with every revelation Ieji realised about his old self, but I guess they were going for the big moment in ep 10. I do think it's a bit of a waste of Sawamura Ikki, he barely got to do anything.

Also finished Kokoro ga Pokitto ne, and it's really crazy. Not quite the good crazy, since it had potential and could have been so much better. Abe Sadao was excellent of course, and Yamaguchi Tomoko really sold her character. Fujiki was adorable. But other than that, not much else.

Two episodes into 64 (Rokuyon). A bit depressing.

Yeah, I have to agree. Have to place the blame mostly on the writer, Yoshikazu Okada. The actors did their best with what they had to work with. Kiko Mizuhara's character who I had mostly hated actually became a little bit sympathetic the last two episodes.

Gomen ne Seishun!

It's been some time since I finished this one. Entertaining and enjoyable, the students' stories are rather forgettable but I like the two leads and the recurring radio station segement. The message with youth and not being afraid to fail and dealing with it, I wish someone had told me when I was in school.

Suteki nan sen Taxi

I enjoyed this one too. The first 4 episodes were quite simple but it picked up in complexity from about episode 5 and I had a good time after that. Really quite funny at times, I like how it explored everyday decisions and mindsets/thoughts when making them. But most of the decisions seemed forced and clear-cut, I wish they spend a bit more time on the unconscious decisions we make every day. Last scenes set up the sequel, I will probably watch that too.

Doctors 3

This was only ok. The scheming/reforming hospital part is not very interesting in this third season, but Moriyama's parts were quite funny to the point where it's a bit silly and comical at times. A bit disappointed that nurse Miyabi was even more of a bystander.

Finished Neko Zamurai season 1. So much awesome and adorable in this drama! Love the kitty and Kitamura Kazuki was fantastic as the samurai who grew to love the cat he was tasked to kill. The theme song is bloody awesome and cast was great all round. Never seen so many cats in one drama! As a cat lover, this is just pure heaven.

Started Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi, which is intriguing. It's good seeing Fukatsu Eri again.

Yup, Nana Eikura's character had a tough time with mothers. Her real mother is batshit crazy and the trophy mom that her Dad got after divorcing her real mom is just there for the money.

OT: We're up to episode 23 of "Hana Moyu" locally. This could be the first taiga where the lead actor (Mao Inoue) has more of a supporting role. The first 15 or 16 episodes the focus was on Yusuke Iseya as Yoshida Shoin. But after the shogun got tired of putting up with him and had his head separated from his body they've shifted to Masahiro Higashide as Genzui Kusaka and his anti-aliens efforts. Mao's main job has been to show up at least once an episode with riceballs and say "Gohan desu yo!" She hasn't had very much else to do. Head Scratch

Watched the first episode of "Dokonjo Gaeru": http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Dokonjo_Gaeru

Hoping Kenichi Matsuyama can channel the goofy otaku like he did in "Sexy Voice and Robo". I thought the first episode was pretty good. I've never seen the anime so I've got nothing to compare it to*. The CG work with the t-shirt is very good and even though it's just her voice Hikari Mitsushima is great as Pyonkichi.

* I notice the ratings dropped like a rock from episode 1 to episode 2. I'm guessing that's from people that saw the anime, watched episode 1 and didn't like how the live action version measures up.

Up thru episode 25 of "Hana Moyu" which covers the Ikedaya Incident. We actually got to see 2 or 3 minutes of swordplay! A record for this taiga! The funny thing is back in 2004 in the taiga "Shinsengumi" in the Ikedaya Incident the Shinsengumi were shown as heroes but in "Hana Moyu" they're shown as a bunch of cruel, bloodthirsty killers. The latter is probably closer to reality than the happy bunch of comrades they portrayed in 2004.

I've always said that if you had ever encountered the real Shinsengumi your opinion of them would have been based solely on which end of the sword you were looking at.

And Kento Kaku is a better version of Soji Okita now than Tatsuya Fujiwara was in the taiga. Fujiwara was too much of a nice guy (well, they all were, not the actors' fault, it was the script). Kaku looks he'd slit his own Mother's throat if he didn't like the ramen.

Started watching Napoleon no Mura! last weekend, not bad, its doesn't have much in the way of plot twists but it was entertaining nevertheless.

Started Watashi no Kirai na Tantei. Pretty silly but I like that it pokes fun at shows of the mystery/detective genre.
