Densha Otoko [電車男]

This drama made me fall in love with Itoh Misaki. :) I loved some of her other dramas such as Gokusen, Tiger and Dragon, You're Under Arrest...but this drama really makes her stand out. Although I thought her character was just too unreal (perfectly beautiful and innocent office lady), I belived this is one of the reasons she has many fans.
Dragon Zakura [ドラゴン桜]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Another teacher drama! No..not Gokusen or GTO...but Dragon..Zakura!! I really enjoyed this drama as well. The difference between this drama and other similar dramas as mentioned b4 is that..there is no "violence". Yes "violence" as demonstrated by the Gangster Teacher (Takeshi) in GTO and the successor of a Yakuza Clan (Nakama Yukie) I almost thought that it was going to follow in the footsteps of these dramas when the 1st ep aired...when Abe Hiroshi's character approached the gangsters (who wanted to beat up Yamapi) Before you guess that he was going to beat the hell out of the gangsters, he was actually seeking directions instead! Haha..this scene really made me laugh..this was sort of done deliberately I suppose. :) So what is this drama abt? Basically it teaches pple how to study and go to the most prestigious university in Japan..Todai!! Ok, so I guess I enjoyed this drama...but you wouldn't understand much unless u are in japan rite??
Engine [エンジン]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Great soundtrack music, good acting and storyline but guess this is not one of KimuTaku's best dramas. Another sports related (after Pride) drama, but I think Michael Schumacher guess starring in it would prob have made me liked it more..:D I would like to see Kimura Takuya play some other sporting person after this.
Gokusen [ごくせん]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Gokusen Season 2 [ごくせん2]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Not as good as the 1st season..the main reason is that Nakama Yukie's character has already developed (or matured)...so we don't see much cuteness (can I say this?), enthusiasm, crazyness (ya I liked her wearing the wig in the 1st season) as her role in season 1. But utlimately she is stilla joy to watch. Waiting for season 3 now!! :)
Good Luck !! [グッドラック!!]

Hana Yori Dango [花より男子]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Good entertaining drama. Considering I had not watched the taiwanese version, this was quite a good watch. I had also chanced upon the "original" movie version, but I deleted it as the quality was too horrible.. :P
Hero

Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
One of the best dramas I watched in this season (along with HYD). Based on a true story, this is a drama with all the right elements. The female lead is outstanding as Aya (Erika) imo...she played the role of a girl who suffers an incurable disease very well.. The emotions and tears..really moved me at times..and made me wonder if she did shed "a litre of tears"! Also, the male lead (Ryo from Johnny's boyband Kanjini 8) did very well as the person who plays an impt role in Aya's life after she is diagnoised with the disease. The scenes he shares with Erika are one of the best scenes in this drama imo. (brings to mind the song Konayuki too :)) An interesting fact of his character is that it was unreal in real life! This was written in at the request of the Aya's mother as one of Aya regrets before she died was not experiencing love. A sweet gesture I must say. Besides the two leads, I really liked the other cast members' roles, esp the family members. I can sort of understand the pain, suffering, indifferences that occur at the start of discovering Aya's illness...the siblings unable to come to terms...the parents who couldn't bear to tell Aya the news at 1st and then doing everything they can for her as her illness deteriotates...it is really touching the way the family bonds together as the drama progresses. I have to say Aya has taught us a lesson in life..I have learnt so many things from this drama. "Being alive is such a good thing"
Kiken na Aneki [危険なアネキ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Ai yai yai...I had high expectations for this drama..but in the end, it was disapointing. Yup, it was entertaining in some areas and funny as well (esp the supporting cast: the doctor and Itoh's frd). But ultimately the male lead (Mirai) outshown Itoh Misaki in this drama. I think she is just not suitable for this character...
Koi no Jikan [恋いの時間]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Slow moving, good acting but just too draggy at times
Love generation [ラブジェネレーション]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Mukodono 2003 [ムコ殿2003]
Mukodono! [ムコ殿/女婿大人]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
My Little Chef
Pride [プライド]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Again, I think this is not of KimuTaku's best dramas...I liked the soundtrack music (lots of Queen songs) and the cast...but the storyline of love and friendship in a competitive sporting background didn't draw me to it that much. Crazy thought, but I would like to see a basketball drama starring Kimura Takuya...that would be different and cool to watch! :)
Taiho shichauzo [逮捕しちゃうぞ]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Tiger & Dragon [タイガー&ドラゴン]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Very unique and interesting drama..using a storytelling sketchshow (a japanese version, or like standup comedy..im not sure wat its called) as background for each ep. In each ep, the characters will tell a story to an audience and at the same time, it is actually happening in real life! (either by flashback or real time ) I heard the scripwriter is an award winning guy..who writes very unique plots..and it is fully demonstrated in this drama. Great cast as well. (includ Itoh Misaki) Thumbs up!!
