1 Pound no Fukuin [1ポンドの福音]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
kinda stupid all around....i know it's a manga adaptation but i cannot stand how silly the whole plot is. chemistry between kame and meisa was also average.
14 sai no Haha [14歳の母]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Dramatically very nice and enjoyable to watch. Great acting by Shida Mirai although it took me awhile to believe that such a naive little girl like Miki can get herself pregnant. I guess that's what you mean by don't judge the book by its cover. I personally disagree with her decision to keep the baby and think that the sequence of events that follow are a bit too hopeful and unrealistic, but I commend the courage that she has. In the last episode, I kind of have this feeling that both Miki and Satoshi are just like kids playing house with the parents as active spectators. Speaking of the parents, I like the contrast between the two mother characters, one supportive another harsh, but both try in hteir own way to protect their children. The narrative by Miki's mother is what often touches me the most.
Anego [アネゴ]

interesting enough story about a woman's struggle, but nothing stands out
Atsu-Hime [篤姫]
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
Miyazaki Aoi is an amazing actress and I cannot think of anyone else more prefect for this role. Her portrayal of the young Katsu and her transformation into the wise Tenshoin is perfect. Her supporting cast also did amazing job bringing out the essence of their characters and they all have great chemistry. At first, I was a little thrown off by Eita's appearance, but he was developed solidly. Matsuda Shota also portrayed his young and gentle Iemochi very well. I do think that Horikita Maki is a little bit of miscast, maybe because she doesn't really pull the taiga look very well. I don't know much about Japanese history but I found the plot was engaging and balanced the politics, history and drama well with a healthy dose of humor thrown in. I started tearing up in the early episode when Katsu said goodbye to her family and then later when she mourned the death of her husband and son.
Attention Please [アテンションン プリース]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
funny at parts, but ueto aya's obnoxious character kinda annoys me. Aibu Saki needs to stop playing a best friend character who has a one-sided crush on Ryo and do something more challenging. I like Ryo but I would prefer him in different kind of roles where he can really show his acting skill.
Bara no nai Hanaya [薔薇のない花屋]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Slow but nicely developed plot and characters. The story about the basic human relationship is very heartwarming and I actually found myself choked up in the last episode in Shizuku and Eiji's scene. The basic premise that blood doesnt define the meaning of family is simple yet we often forgot about it in our busy daily life. Great chemistry between all the cast, a combination of veteran and young actors. The little girl who plays Shizuku steals the show for me and a soulful performance by Takeuchi Yuko like always. Shingo also really fits his role and the appearance of Tamayama Tetsuji is a pleasant surprise.

maybe 8.5. great drama, great cast...a touching story. I personally didn't think Yamapi could pull off a heavy character like Mineji, but he did better than I expected. There are rooms for improvements, though esp with the crying scenes. And Koki also surprised me. I am used to his "stupid" characters and it was a nice change to see he can do a serious role. I thought the drama was good in its own exploration of how destructive war can be while also revisiting the idea of dying for honor. It was subtle and nicely done.
CHANGE
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Before I say anything else, let me say that I am a fan of Takuya but considering all the hype about this drama, it didnt really live up to my expectation. Prime Minister Takuya is the same as Lawyer Takuya, Pilot Takuya, Pianist Takuya and basically everything else. I am not expecting a hardcore political drama but after last year's karei naru ichizoku, i had hoped that this drama would be as deep, but instead it's a flat plotline and if itwasn't for the strong cast, i doubt it would get the high ratings it got. I am not bothered by the unrealistic-ness of a newbie politician who quickly rose to power and bring his idealism in changing the world, after all we have a living proof in Obama..I was more bothered by the drama's lack of effort to develop characters in reasonable manner. Everyone good is good all the way, the bad guy is bad like always and Takuya is above everyone like always. He wants to change the face of politic, fine, but does everything have to go damn successful for him at the end? And that ending song by Madonna serves no artistic purpose at all except to sell the name..that song is not related to whatever the drama is about and the plot itself waste so many great talents in the drama.
Code Blue Season 2 [コード・ブルー 2]

Code Blue: Doctor Heli Kinkyu Kyumei [コード・ブルー]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
yamapi the hero saves the day once again. I generally love medical drama but I wasn't impressed at all by Yamapi's acting. Yamapi probably should stick to comedy bc his serious face is so wooden that I feel very little depth to his character. The drama has quite a range of supporting actor though and that's a plus.
Dragon Zakura [ドラゴン桜]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
a bit unrealistic but fun enough to watch
Engine [エンジン]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
too predictable, but the kids are cute. ah young toda erika is pretty
Erai Tokoro ni Totsuide Shimatta! [エラいところに嫁いでしまった!]
Rating: 5/10 (Watched)
plot is weak, repetitive and predictable, quite unfortunate because the drama has quite a good actors/actresses in the cast. oh,i would also so dump the unreliable husband.
First Kiss [ファースト・キス]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
8.5 for me...the story is quite sweet. At first i thought it's gonna be one of those sickly girl story with all the corniness...but instead this was a spoiled brat who annoyed everyone. Inoue Mao is definitely a great versatile actress. She makes her character believable..an annoying girl with her insecurity. I love how the focus of her story is her relationship with her brother...and added in a lesser extent is her relationship with Yuki. Had it been about her and yuki, i would be bored to death. Hiraoka Yuta is a good actor. It's a pity that he can't seem to get bigger and more interesting role. He has lots of potential. the middle part of the drama gets a little repetitive though with Mio, Kazu, Takagi and Yuki going back and forth. I have to say, the brother is a little too overprotective. But its cute...with the overload of idol dramas and good-looking actors with subpar acting skills recently, this drama is a refreshing change.
Galileo [ガリレオ]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
8.5. I don't like the episodic nature of the drama, but i love mystery and detective story in general. The tricks and stuffs were pretty interesting, but it could easily be tedious after awhile, which means that its really up to the cast to make the drama interesting or boring. That being said, there is no danger of being bored when it's Fukuyama Masaharu and Shibasaki Kou together. Fukuyama is absolutely flawless and just where the hell do you find that hot of a scientist?!?!I probably would pay more attention in my physics class had he been my professor lol. As for Shibasaki Kou, they had great chemistry...even better than shibasaki and kimura takuya imo.
Ganbatte Ikimasshoi [がんばっていきまっしょい]
Rating: 5/10 (Watched)
boring and extremely corny. suzuki ann's character also annoys me. I finished it only bc ryo is in it. and i don't like how they replace uchi just like that in the middle. Either re-film the whole thing, or kill off the character completely. I have nothing against Taguchi but well...Taguchi's Nakata Saburo is..just Taguchi.
Good Luck !! [グッドラック!!]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
actually its more 7.5 for me. I'm partial to takuya but I'm getting tired of his idealistic prince charming character. The story is predictable enough but the supporting cast has good chemistry
Haikei, Chichiue-sama [拝啓、父上様]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
i like the storyline even though it's kinda slow sometimes. nino's expressions are priceless and yoko is funny, great cast overall
Hana Yori Dango [花より男子]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Considering I used to really like the Taiwan version, I was surprised to find that this version is a better made drama. All the supporting characters like Mimasaka and Nishikado and even Yuki and Okami-san are much more developed. Better acting too. The only complaint I have would be the girl who played Shizuka is not pretty and sophisticated enough.
Hana Yori Dango Season 2 [花より男子]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Tsukasa seriously needs an anger management class. I love Toma, I wish he had a bigger role. and more importantly Rui!!!! I don't know if its bc of Oguri Shun or bc Rui is Rui, but I love Rui!!!
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e [花ざかりの君たちへ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
well i guess 7.5 because i love oguri shun even though he seriously doesn't do much in this drama...for some reasons, i feel that Nakatsu gets even more scenes than Sano...not that i'm complaining because i love Toma and i'm glad this drama opens a door for him. Horikita Maki is good, but somehow, she is not very believable as a guy...appearance wise. it must be hard for her to learn the guy's speech and i give her lots of credit for that. The drama itself is quite funny bordering slapstick and annoyingly over the top. At times i feel that the jokes are repetitive...esp the scenes between all the dorm students and their "rivalry". I don't see much of character development for any of the characters which is disappointing. Overall, I enjoyed it enough (who wouldn't? it's literally an ikemen paradise) but it's not the best drama out there
Hero
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Takuya plays an idealistic public prosecutor who pursues justice with his own unique ways. He is dazzling like always (though that brown jacket is hideous) but I really cannot stand how his characters are always so unhumanly perfect. Perfect character does not have a room for development and watching 11 episodes of the same guy trying to solve cases can be quite tedious. The drama is enjoyable enough to watch and the supporting actors are all great, but their characters are so flat that i can watch the first and last episodes and still know what the story is about. There is no chemistry whatsoever between the male and female lead, and more often than not, I got annoyed by Amamiya's self-righteousness. Overall, not the best of takuya's drama.
Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙]
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
i don't think any words can describe how i feel. great cast, great story, great chemistry. i love narumi riko
Ima Ai ni Yukimasu [いま会いにゆきます]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
All the cast did a great job adn that little boy is just an amazing actor for someone that young. Great scenery too, very soft and subtle. I've never seen the movie so I have nothing to compare it with. I would give it higher rating but it was a bit too slow for me and at times cheesy. I didn't like the teenage story and they should pick more suitable actress to play young mio.
Innocent Love [イノセント・ラヴ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
7.5 for the suspense. The ending was a bit blah or otherwise I would rate it as an 8. I am not a big fan on Horikita Maki and her character certainly comes off as stalker-like in the beginning.
Iryu [医龍 Team Medical Dragon]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Iryu Season 2 [医龍 2]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Karei naru Ichizoku [華麗なる一族]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
9.5 for me. The best performance I've seen of Takuya. I was getting tired of his "idol"-like characters, the ideal prince charming that never does anything wrong when I watched this drama. Here he reminded me of the reason why he is Japan's superstar. The drama is nothing like all those cheesy-love story he was in before. It's intense, full of trickery, deceit and all the worst, and best possible emotions. All of the characters are developed very well and the line between antagonist and protagonist is blurred. I find myself hating and sympathizing some characters at the same time, i.e, Manpyo Daisuke who I believe is a victim as much as he is the antagonist. The only reason why I didn't give the drama a 10 is bc Ginpei is a bit too perfect to be real, despite all his human emotions.
Kurosagi [クロサギ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
didn't like maki in this...and i didn't find yamapi's acting impressive either.
Last Christmas [ラストクリスマス]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
i was a little bored toward the end but oda yuji is great like always...and tamaki..boy he was so young then...i didn't like the girl who played his girlfriend though...she was so stiff like a wood. it's a light christmas drama..nice enough
Last Friends [ラスト・フレンズ]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
A sensitive and thoughtful approach to address real life issues that most people are not comfortable talking about such as homosexuality and domestic violence all the while maintaining the hopeful tone of true friendship. The story is heavy and I could not watch more than 1 or 2 episodes at the time bc I got really depressed afterward. (I usually like to do a marathon when watching drama) Ueno Juri once again amazed me with her versatility and she is truly an actress with class on her own....not even Masami could outshine her here. I applaud Ryo for branching out of the typical Johnny's roles. There are times I felt that his acting was a bit awkward but overall he gave a heartfelt performance. All the characters in this drama were well developed and they had great chemistry with each other though I wish they had given more insight to Sousuke's mind...after all he was the catalyst of all the events. I don't know if I would rewatch this drama just because it's so heavy, but I would recommend this to everyone and not just because Ryo was in it.
Liar Game [ライアーゲーム]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
After watching tons of idol drama with tons of cheesy romance, I needed something else. Psychological thriller fits right to the bill and I couldn't stop watching. The premise seems predictable enough, a gullible girl in a cruel world and a hero who saves the day, albeit in an unusual way and that goodness wins. Yes there wasn't much character development but I liked the drama for simple reasons: the world is cruel. As annoyed as I was by how stupid Nao can be, but there is a heartwarming message that maybe, somewhere, no matter how small, there is still hope if you can just believe and be true to yourself. I have always liked Toda Erika's acting and she fits her innocent character. And what can I say about Matsuda Shota. This guy never fail to amaze me with his performance...it's probably the acting gene in him. I never think he was particularly good looking, and judging from his appearance in variety shows, he's not very interesting either, unlike Johnny idols whose presence always entertain. But when it comes to his acting, there is no doubt that he is a natural. He just seems to exude confidence and charisma in his acting and that's hot. Now, the setting of this drama doesn't particularly stand out, but I have to say that I totally love the opening credit. I normally fast forward those kinda parts, but the concept of opposing red and black sofas...and red dress, black suits, damn...it's sexy, for lack of better word. I didn't give it a 10 because i thought the ending with all the recaps was unnecessary and fukunaga's annoying laugh is overplayed
Love Shuffle [ラブシャッフル]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Maou [魔王]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Considering this is the first time I watched Ohno's acting, I was pleasantly surprised that he did quite a good job. I am used to seeing his silly expressions and so his serious face in here totally adds to the suspense and theme of angel in disguise. I found it quite overwhelming the way his character manipulates others to do his dirty job and also his own struggle to pursue his vengeance. The scene with his "sister" was absolutely heartbreaking. I wasn't impressed by Toma here although I think it was bc the way his character was written than his own acting. I felt like he spent most of his time running around and being emotional. The ending was not completely shocking to me, but I think a nice way to wrap things up.

Mukodono! [ムコ殿/女婿大人]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
nagase's character is too much of a busybody for me to like. and takeuchi's role is flat. I wish they had developed more story of the second and third sister though
My Boss, My Hero [マイボスマイヒロ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
typical nagase's role..funny, slapstick and exaggerated. tegoshi's acting is too stiff imo. but the simple plot line is enjoyable.
News no onna [ニュースの女]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
watched this long time ago and can't remember much.
Nobuta wo Produce [野ブタ。をプロデュース]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
very touching...yamapi's akira is funny and annoying at the same time.
Nodame Cantabile [のだめ カンタビ−レ]
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
Possibly the cutest drama i've ever seen. I first saw ueno juri in Engine and I thought she was really good. Here she just amazes me...the way she talks, the way she acts around chiaki, gosh i can't think of anyone perfect for the role. Tamaki Hiroshi is great too and i love how he can pull of being kakkoi and completely silly at the same time. (not to mention he is HOT). The pace of the drama was very good...it was funny without being slapstick and dramatic as well without being cheesy. In normal situation, I would be appalled by how Chiaki physically abuses Nodame (come on those punches?!?!), but the scenes were choreographed so comically that I had to laugh all the times. I can go on and on, but in short, LOVE IT!
Papa to Musume no Nanokakan [パパとムスメの7日間]

Proposal Daisakusen [プロポーズ大作戦]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
at first i didn't like yamapi's acting but he improves throughout the drama. Great chemistry between all the actors and great message too. The plot seems predictable enough but I was interested at the way each characters develop and particularly the friendship between all 5. There was something endearing about how 5 of them are always together. Unlike most ppl, I actually like the ending. A flatout happy ending would be too predictable. Btw, confessing love in the bride's wedding is pretty damn bad idea.
Ryusei no Kizuna [流星の絆]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
8.5 to 8.75. I was expecting something as heavy as Last Friends but it turned out to be more lighthearted esp the first few episodes. The metadrama is particularly clever, however, and the back and forth between the adult and young ariake siblings were very artistic, showing how their childhood became something that imprison them in the present. Great chemistry between nino, ryo and toda erika. I dont know why ppl say Matsujun is the best actor bc clearly Nino is the better actor. He was ariake kouichi all the way through and not Ninomiya. Ryo is really adding to his resume with all these different roles he plays this year and I love this idiotic Tai Ni figure. Toda Erika is great like always. I am not quite sure the function of Mika in here aside from comic relief and I wish that the drama had incorporated her more. The ending wasn't surprising and I found the whole swindling thing was rather far-fetched but as a whole it was a nice drama, a heartwarming relationship between 3 siblings and a reminder to cherish what one has in life
Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu [世界の中心で、愛をさけぶ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Sore wa, Totsuzen, Arashi no you ni... [それは、突然、嵐のように…]
Rating: 5/10 (Watched)
In general, I dislike the older woman-younger man plot which sadly seems very popular among many Johnnys. I've seen Takki, Jin and now Yamapi (heck, even Kimura Takuya did this kinda plot in Long Vacation) This drama is really slow and although I can sort of sympathize with Kozue as the bored wife, I was more often annoyed by the fact that she continually gives in to the whim of an 18 year old who I think is simply carried by the moment. After all, 18 is too young to understand what love really is and the responsibility that comes with love and being married. That being said, I find Kozue rather irresponsible for even getting involved with someone so young, especially with a husband like Ogawa. And honestly, how the hell does a banker turn to become a flower delivery man? The drama does have a a full cast of young starting actors...it's a bit unusual for me to see Ayase Haruka, Yamada Yu and Yamapi as supporting actors cuz I'm so used to their leading roles these days. Strangely for Yamapi, I always find his acting in older dramas to be better than the ones where he is the lead (though the characters he play are also more generic). I think he is more natural when he doesn't have that pressure to maintain good ratings and where he can really just act.
SP [エスピー]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
I would have given this drama a higher rating had the ending wasn't that ambiguous. I understand that it was to maintain curiosity in anticipation for the special, but there were too much loose ends that I thought could be tied up better. I love suspense, but I found the suspense here got a little cliched. The final scene with the prime minister, for example, what the hell were the rest of the cops doing standing around when there was obviously an assassin there? And why the heck didn't they call for more help like normally people would do? It ended up being like a cheap attempt to make Okada's character more heroic..totally failed. Aside from my nit-picky scrutiny, I enjoyed the drama well enough. Not only the fact that Okada looked dazingly hot, but there were some good chemistry between the casts, though at first I thought something might happened between him and the female SP. The background music was amazing btw. I have never really seen any suspense drama using so much classical music but it ended up working quite well. I guess I'm gonna wait for special before I can really judge the plot bc at this point i'm quite unsatisfied. (btw, okada is a little too short for his role imo, but i guess his eyes totally made up for it)
Stand UP!!
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Story is pointless and I only watch it for the hot guys....
Taiyou no uta [タイヨのうた]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
it would be 6.5 for me bc the plot is too slow and predictable. Both Yamada and Sawajiri Erika are good dramatic actress, but their roles here are geting repetitive. I do like Sato Megumi here though.
Tsuki no Koibito [月の恋人]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Ushi ni Negai wo: Love & Farm [牛に願いを - Love & Farm]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Yamada Taro Monogatari [山田太郎ものがたり]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
story was rather random and pointless, but nino and sho are cute...and all the kids, omg, aren't they the cutest things...I don't like the main girl's character that much...i found her fantasy rather annoying, although she did a great job with it. Overall it was enjoyable though. Oh I swear, Sho is in love with Nino, or rather Mimura with Yamada....the way he looks at Yamada...if thats not a crush, i dont know what to call it.
