Attention Please [アテンションン プリース]
This show is full of laughter and fun. Occasionally there are times where Misaki is forced to make difficult decisions, but she always makes it through. This isn't simply a comedic show, it is also one about hardships and the determination to get through them. Simply motivational, inspiring, and full of fun!

Ueto Aya [上戸彩]
Aya Ueto is the first Japanese actress who I really admire and enjoyed watching. The first role I saw her play was in Azumi and I was moved by her beauty and talented acting. From there on, it prompted me to watch her dramas which started with Nagareboshi which did not disappoint me. I then found out that she was also a singer and "Ai no Tame ni" became one of my favorites. Her acting is unparalleled and her voice is charming and sweet. No matter what role she plays, it always seem like she is a perfect fit. From her amazing smile to her emotional cries, she is able touch my heart and leave a lasting impression.

Abarenbo Mama [暴れん坊ママ]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Slow at first, but ends up being a heartwarming story about a kid and a step-mom developing an unforgettable relationship. The characters did not really leave much of a lasting impression. I kinda disliked Aya Ueto's character, even though she was definitely a great actress.
Ace wo Nerae! [エースをねらえ!]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
In short: a underdog story. It was difficult getting into this drama because nothing interesting really happens until Aya Ueto's character actually showed some progress. I really wondered if most of the scenes of the tennis matches were actually played out or cgi's. The ending theme by Aya Ueto (Ai no Tame ni) was also a great song.
Ai wa Mieru [愛はみえる]
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
A very touching and emotional drama which was short and sweet. It was hard not to be emotionally attached to the characters especially with Aya Ueto playing such an amazing role of the blind Juri Tatematsu. Aya did not just portrayed the blindness with great precision, the emotion was so deep and intense that I needed a tissue in hand since I was tearing practically every moment. The hardships that both couples had to overcome was so inspiring and motivating that I believe everyone should watch this. I enjoyed this drama so much even though it was 1 hour and 30 minutes it seemed to pass by instantly. This is definitely a tearjerker which aims to inspire others who are handicapped, but it is also capable of touching the hearts of those who are not.
Attack No.1 [アタック No.1]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Decent drama with a compelling volleyball story. Began watching with low expectations, but eventually became very enjoyable and worthwhile. There were a lot of emotional scenes with the characters crying which was really hard to sit through. The story was decently presented as there were predictable moments and some unpredictable moments. Aya Ueto played her role pretty well while portraying emotions. Although many people believe her role as a volleyball player was not accurate, she still put up a good performance. The volleyball scenes were more convincing than the tennis scenes from Ace wo Nerae! which is a big plus for me. The ending, however, was not as fulfilling as I would wanted it to be. There are for sure some faults in this drama, but I would recommend this to Aya fans.
Attention Please [アテンションン プリース]
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
This drama has became one of my favorites because it was so laid back and enjoyable. Aya Ueto did an amazing job portraying her character; from all the sad and emotional moments to the happy and inspirational. Each episode was great and I never felt like it was dragging on. The other characters were also well portrayed which created a great synergy between the cast, making it even more enjoyable. This is definitely a must watch!
Celeb to Binbo Taro [セレブと貧乏太郎]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
A drama using a cliched concept of rich and poor. Fun story with many touching and emotional moments. The one thing that stood out was the special shaking effects. The story also had many plot twists which made it really interesting, up until episode 8 or 9 where the drama just became totally ridiculous. Aya Ueto played the rich character and looked exceptionally cute. Safarii and Ikimono gakari presented great theme songs. Still a worth while drama to watch.
GTO [麻辣教師]
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
This drama had many interesting themes and life lessons which was taught. Onizuka, an ex-gang member, becomes a teacher and teaches his students life lessons which becomes inspirational and moving. The characters were well portrayed and each episode never felt uninteresting. Definitely a must watch.
Hitonatsu no Papa e [ひと夏のパパへ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
The first couple of episodes were a rough start, I felt like I had to force myself to watch it and hoped it got more interesting. Eventually it picked up and became a lot more enjoyable when the plot was not just centered on the father and daughter developing a bond, but many other characters as well. I though the dancing within the drama was pretty ridiculous and the plot was not very well developed, but there were moments that were very sentimental. The ending was definitely shocking and surprised me which was a definite plus, it made me feel like it was worthwhile. Aya Ueto's role was something I felt very comfortable watching as she fit it perfectly while the father was a little harder to watch. Still a good watch for Aya fans.
Hokaben [ホカベン]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Very interesting interpretation of the moral corruption aspect of lawyers. Domoto Akari, played by Aya Ueto, is new lawyer and works for a famous law firm. Akari believed that lawyers were righteous and should fight for the weak and powerless, but quickly realized that lawyers were direct opposites of that. Although many believed that the drama was poorly done due to the inaccuracy of lawyers, they failed to understand the point of the drama is to show the corruption within the law field. It is unfortunate that this had low ratings since this is definitely an issue that could create a dramatic change in our society. I still want to know what was the results of the last case, but it was never revealed...
hoteriaa [ホテリアー]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
The drama is about a hotel at risk of losing it's ownership. Aya Ueto played a very elegant and beautiful character, and as always, did an amazing performance. The romance was hard to grasp and I did not like how it was portrayed. There were too many twists which gave an uneasy feeling between the character's romantic development which became very disappoint at the end. The general ending, however, was great since it did not leave me hanging and was very cheerful. Aya Ueto's Namida no Niji fit perfectly and made the drama more enjoyable. I have not seen the Korean version of this, but more or less this is the type of drama that would be enjoyed if you're a Aya Ueto fan.
Juunen Saki mo Kimi ni Koishite [10年先も君に恋して]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Interesting use of time travel concept, but story was difficult to grasp. The character development was lacking and the ending was unsatisfying. Aya Ueto looked great and Crystal Kay's songs tied in really well.
Konkatsu! [婚カツ!]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Full of humor and fun moments. Although this drama was centered on marriage and romance, I thought it was more comedic. Slow at first, but eventually picks up and then slows down again. Aya Ueto did not have much of an appearance in the beginning, but eventually had a more important role. I also wished the character development was more refined, but nonetheless an enjoyable drama.
Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003 [高校教師 2003]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
I'm very indecisive on how I should score this drama on a scale of enjoyment vs the plot. On the scale of enjoyment: I would have to give this a 5. I had a tough time enjoying the beginning of the drama probably up until episode 7. Reason is because I felt so much tension and uneasiness while watching the events unfold so it was tough to enjoy. The times where I pretty much had a rough time watching was after the lies and how it kept accumulating. This is the type of drama where the viewers know what is going on and the characters don't makes very frustrating. I also began this drama with a bad impression due to the fact that it is forbidden love between the teacher and the student with the student being Aya Ueto. I have strict morals and didn't believe Aya would play such a scandalous role. Don't get me wrong though, it was definitely interesting which is why I continued to watch, but the fact that it was so serious, dark, and knowing the situation made it really difficult to enjoy. On a scale of plot: I would give this a 10. The plot was really well developed, I felt that everything unfolded well and the plot twists were very subtle and caught me by surprise. The fact that it was so unpredictable won a lot of points. I found the concept of the teacher lying to the student and making her believe she will die when it is the teacher who is dying, very fascinating and interesting. The main focus of the story was between Hina and Koga (who are the student and teacher) which Aya Ueto played an excellent role and the chemistry between characters were very well expressed. The other story with Beniko, Yuji and Fujimura was less of an importance but it tied in with the main focus very well. The ending however was quite impressive as I wasn't feeling pissed as the characters, I was quite calm about how they decided to resolve everything. However, the ending did leave it to be quite ambiguous and up to the viewer's own beliefs. In the end, I will score this a 7 due to the average of the two scales. This might be something that viewers with an interest for dark, unpredictable, and serious plots would enjoy. I on the other hand preferred a less serious drama with a more fun atmosphere, but Aya Ueto made it somewhat worth it.
My Little Chef
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
This was a spectacular drama with a decent story as I enjoyed it very much. The business part of the plot could've been better as it was not surprising to see the result at the end, but the character development for each customer and main cast were great. Most episodes consisted of a customer and their issue and the chef, Seri, asks questions to decide on the perfect menu. Each menu presented had the ability to move one's heart. This show also had a big French influence which made it enjoyable to hear the characters speak french. Aya Ueto looked really cute, Akiko Yada was adorable, and Abe Hiroshi was great. Ayumi Hamasaki's Voyage fit in great for this drama.
Nagareboshi [流れ星]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
This drama had many intense and cliffhanging moments that makes you want to watch more. The use of jellyfishes was creative and tied in pretty well from beginning to end. Aya Ueto played a very interesting character which held a lot of emotions, but all characters ultimately made a lasting impression. A very sad, but heartwarming and touching story.
Namida o fuite [涙をふいて]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Great drama with a touching story and a great cast. Story revolved around Katsuo taking in four kids after their house burned down. Majority of the drama is about Katsuo forming a bond with the kids and facing many issues. Most issues gets solved perfectly like the issue with Momo, played by Aya Ueto, which creates a sort of predictable outcome. The drama is emotional and serious, but still enjoyable and humorous at times.
Shimokita Sundays [下北サンデーズ]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Shimokita Sundays had an interesting story which felt unique and deviated itself from all other dramas. The plot starts off slow with the introduction of Aya Ueto's character, Yuika. Yuika's character is very different from what Aya's other roles are, so it was interesting seeing Aya's ability to portray her. The cover art for the drama is kind of a turn off due to Yuika having a weird haircut, but I'd figured I give Aya a chance and I was glad I did. Most of the show is filled with awkward and funny moments while having a consistent melancholic feel and each episode gets progressively better. Chances are, if you're an Aya fan, you'll give it a shot and you'll either love it or hate it.
Zettai Reido [絶対零度]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
This detective, crime drama was interesting and enjoyable and I was very impressed at how each case was presented. Each episode had a different case full of twists and turns which left you hanging until the very end. Aya Ueto did an amazing job in portraying her character and bringing out emotional moments and after each case. Each character that appears on the show are also well developed. The soundtrack was also incredible.
Zettai Reido Season 2 [絶対零度 2]
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
A direct sequel after the first season ended with an unsolved case. The previous season presented cold cases while this season were on-going cases which created a different feel of investigation. Sakuragi Izumi is forced to learn new techniques of investigation because what she had learned becomes obsolete. The way inspections were carried out; particularly hiding identities, changing of alias, and tracking of suspects were very interesting and impressive. Again, each episode presented a different case which were full of twists and turns while enjoyable and exhilarating. Aya Ueto did an amazing job in portraying Sakuragi Izumi as did the rest of the cast. It is possible that another season of Zettai Reido will be produced due to some unanswered questions. Overall a great, enjoyable, and exhilarating detective and crime drama with a great cast and soundtrack.
